Basically as the title says. If I scroll the main map so that the fortress tile of the city is straddling the bottom of the screen, I see the corner of a black square. Scroll the main map back, it turns into a fortress again. Nothing serious really, but I don't remember this happening in 1.2 at all.

I think that you need to remember that because a supernova is a normal-space phenomenon, it wouldn't take very long for the planets in the same system to feel the effects, but it would take years for planets in other sectors to be affected.
I've started a game of 1.3 and so far it's looking good.
There are reasons why farms and charging stalks are cut back to a single common improvement. If the AI builds multiple farms on a planet, or acquires a planet with multiple farms, it reacts to the unhappiness created by overpopulation by cutting taxes across the board, rather than de-populating the planet and then demolishing the extra farm (or alternatively just building more morale improvements) like the human player would. If Stardock were still updating the game then we mi
I've tried out the Advanced Colony thing myself but alas, I ran into the same problem. What you can do, although it may not be an entirely balanced thing to do, is approach it in the same way as Weather Control Centre or Biosphere Modulator (which give you tiles to use) thereby offsetting the fact that you have to use a tile in order to build the 'upgrade' on a planet. You get a similar effect, with a possibility of also increasing the planet quality about the thresh
That being said, we can sort of change the way the AI does things by shuffling things around or spacing things out in the tech tree. For example, one of the things the AI inevitably does is fill up tiles on planets, sometimes to the detriment of the economy. It puts down too many factories and not enough trade centres. So in my mod I limited their access to maintenance-sucking factories until after some kind of economic building has been researched.
I'm fairly sure that there is a backup of the data files. Look inside GalCiv2\Twilight\MetaverseData\English, these are vanilla data files which the game uses when playing Metaverse.
In the same place as the debug.err file, the files with a .raceconfigxml extension are the ones you need to clear out. For example, Terran Alliance.raceconfigxml is such a file.
Probably because Gamestop applies a force similar to a black hole. Personally, although I have GalCiv 2 installed already, I have no idea if I would be able to re-download it from them if it became necessary. :P
Now you can have a Universe Out of Memory error. ;)
Put it this way, those of us who pay for the game get to look forward to games that have a tight development budget because of all the people who didn't pay. If you're pirating games, you're basically poisoning the well so nobody will see a game produced on a decent budget.
When someone with the right talent is hired on by Stardock, then multiplayer will get a look. It's no good throwing the job at just anyone, unless you want the cries of OMG Multi to be swiftly replaced with Out of Sync Frakked My Life or similar.
Well see reply 23, you could literally yell 'OMG Take My Money' and it wouldn't make any difference unless the talent is in place.
Thanks for the advice. I'll look into it, I suspect it's because I have races in the game that haven't been looked over as thoroughly as I would like, so multiple upgrade targets is a possibility. I'll have to start a new test game to check that out. Having looked the improvements over, there isn't anything that stands out at first glance, except for the Entertainment Network upgrading to both Multimedia Centre and Drathian Temple. I've remove
Well that sucks. Unending turn bug, twice tonight. :P Unfortunately I don't know if it's my mod that's at fault or the game just refusing to deal with an Immense galaxy end turn on turn 500 or so. Unless someone knows why this is happening, there's nothing more I can do.
I've been playing my Arcean test game tonight. Been watching the Terrans lording their single alliance and massive fleet over the other races. Haven't got dragged into a war with them yet but it's looking inevitable. I'm playing Neutral Arceans and I've got the Neutrality Learning Centres built up, with sector starbases in orbit boosting the research output. I'm managing to stay competitive on technology despite having only twenty-odd colonies
Fantastic. There's an incentive to keep cities better protected now. Thanks for the hard work. :)
Pathfinding sounds like it should be easy, but isn't. I have noticed that there is a weird bias towards attacking north-west.
I actually find that the missions created for the new Romulan faction are quite good. It certainly doesn't hurt having Denise Crosby in to voice for Sela. ;)
I agree with the original poster, that mission is seriously messed up. It's also not as good as some of the other content in the game. Hopefully it'll get looked at some time in the future.
It strikes me that all MS had to do was build on what the Start Menu already does. So for example, let's say that you have a particular session (saved tabs) you want to restore in your browser, how cool would it be if all your browser sessions were on the Start menu (or pinned to the Quick-Launch, that works too)? Or maybe you have a few applications that you want to open together with their last files to resume working on what you were doing when you were last at the comp
I'm not working on the mod at the moment, but I have done a few minor things with it this year. Basically things are a bit crazy in real life right now. I'm hunting around for a job with enough hours to let me stay where I am instead of moving into a non-existent smaller place. It's stressful and not very productive, because government cuts have made it difficult for any employer to offer a decent wage, or even a crappy wage to be honest.
Well look on the bright side, Brad. You don't have Mutons accidentally teleporting to an invalid location and dying horribly. :D Any idea how the AI should tackle player units parking on Durin's Bridge and refusing to budge? Perhaps giant eagles should swoop down and scatter them about the landscape? ;)
Something to also bear in mind is that if you take a very similar approach to research each game, you can check the 'Save ship designs to hard drive' box in the game options and then when the right technologies are researched and necessary miniaturisation ability is reached, the ship design will be available.
Nothing wrong with having a few spare colony ships kicking around, you can use them to move population to developing colonies. Or upgrade them later on to transports. It's colonising that will kill your economy with maintenance, colony ships (unless they have weapons on board) won't cost you any credits in maintenance per turn. Winning at the colony rush is good, but once your economy is rolling you don't need to keep colonising like mad. Spreading out wi
