That's what I mean - if they're under your control or blown to smithereens they can't defect and so you won't get any more messages. There's just no other way, except maybe passing the mining loyalty law, and even then when planets are culture flipped or invaded you'll get it.

Not as such, no. You can aggressively tale control of asteroid mines using influence starbases, or blow them to smithereens if you're at war. Barring those options you'll just have to suffer. :(
You forgot the part about not slouching. While it won't directly cause eye strain, it does mean your eye level isn't near the top of the monitor as it should be.
Actually with the Arceans I have been rolling with Industrialist because they become awesome at cranking out ships, and not too shabby at building up planets. Of course their innate bonuses don't hurt in this regard.
You must have at least Battlestations on there or some of the defence modules won't show up.
If you want to customise your very own hero but you just want the gear and stats from one of the stock heroes, do a Ctrl-F (Find) in CoreUnits.xml, highlight from to and copy, then paste into Notepad. Design the look of the hero as a sovereign in-game, exit the game, open that file and copy just the parts which relate to appearance, paste over the appearance section in your new hero file and save as before with an XML extension. It wouldn&#
I can't say I blame you. I was turned off RTS a while ago and even competitive TBS isn't very palatable. I'd rather have a gaming experience which lasts a while and that I'm happy with, than one which lasts scant minutes and that I'm angry about. Trouble is, it's hard to get some people excited about games which naturally take a bit longer and have protracted periods without much 'action' when actually, to the player playing the game, the st
Hmm, well it might actually make sense for the Yor to have their own unique PD improvement. Of course, to give them that you have to snip the default Planetary Defence tech from their tree, but that's a small price to pay.
It looks like you have the 'Use Mods' box checked and it's using the 'Default' mod. Uncheck that and restart the game, it should be fine after that.
If it's +1 attack per unit and you have seven units in a company, isn't that +7 to Attack? Or is it just +1 regardless of size?
The exception code indicates an attempt to divide by zero. Might indicate a problem with the installation. Just copy and paste your debug.err (open it with Notepad) into a post.
Well as far as Planetary Defence goes it's possible to limit it to X per planet, doesn't have to be 1. :)
I suppose that it is possible to whip together some sort of basic hero creator utility but honestly, you don't need an instruction manual to go poking in some XML files. For the visual customisation part you can even use the in-game sovereign creator and then (with some minor editing in the XML file) switch them over to Champion when you're done. Once you've done this a few times and got it to work, it isn't very hard. Would I like to be able to do it in-ga
Um, you can totally design your own hero units. Copy this, paste into Notepad, save with file extension XML in your mods folder and boom, you have a rockin' Mord-Sith on your side. Unless you're playing as Empire, then you've just given the enemy a rockin' Mord-Sith. Champion <br /
I've actually developed a fondness for Immense galaxies with Tight clusters. I'm actually playing from a 'tiny corner cluster' start and doing okay. :)
Another idea to add to the pile. Rather than distributing the XP across the whole army for every battle, give it to the unit (be it troops or a hero) which needs it most (in order to gain a level). If need be, add a button in the victory screen to allow manual distribution. That way, instead of every unit levelling slowly, by default one of them is quickly brought up to the same grade as the rest of the army.
Yeah I don't know what Stardock was thinking, giving Arceans a speed penalty. A penalty to Defence hurts them in the second and subsequent rounds and indeed, that's what I've gone with, along with a speed boost to actually facilitate the use of their Super Warrior ability.
Okay well here's a thought. The fame requirement to gain heroes should scale according to the pace you have set for production in the options. Meaning that you shouldn't be swimming in heroes when you haven't yet got enough troops for them to all lead an army.
If you take the research value of labs any lower than it is, you may as well build factories and focus research rather than building labs. The real restriction now is on the number of labs which can be built per planet, which effectively constrains most races to 48 base research on most planets and slows things down quite a bit. Of course it is possible to do an all-factories approach by using focus and get around that. Lowering Creative ability is possible, but there ar
Hopefully they'll be adding an early version of their cybernetic neural interface which will do away with input devices. ;)
Basically, it's a lot of tech tree to go over and even with inflated tech costs, the Creative ability still makes it possible to leap forward dramatically. I've posted a patch file for lower research output in my mod post, in case you want to check it out.
I've added a patch file up top for lower-output labs and research bonuses. Initial colonies will have a base research output of 0 and capitals will have an output of 16 instead of 24 if you use it. Make sure to make a backup of PlanetImprovements.xml in case you find it a bit too extreme.
It is certainly possible to reduce the amount of tp that labs provide, but keep in mind that beyond a certain point you will actually be making the game easier.
Twelve major race tech trees and one minor race tech tree, and one person to test how they perform against one another. It's always going to be a work in progress without testers to feedback and say 'no no no these guys are way too overpowered now!' ;) That said I have been playing against and as some of the neglected races and I have preliminary fixes for the Krynn and some more improvements for the Arceans. As far as difficulty goes, well the AI
I would prefer that heroes get performance-related XP, for using tactical debuffs and healing troops as well as doing straight-up damage. A hero that just sits on the back line doing nothing should get zero XP.
