O yeah! Keep the updates coming!

Thank you guys for all the great info, really helpfull. I will visit the Monterey aquarium and not Sea World I guess. By Midway you mean the aircraft carrier right? I defintely will go to some fine restaurants in SF. I plan to visit the Grand Canyon another time, as it deserves more time than one or two days. I also plan to drive along the whole coast from San Diego to the north (Redwoods). What's the coolest movie park in LA, Universal studios? What's the best strategic locati
This summer I'm going to California (USA) for a month. I will visit most of the highlights of the state (San Diego, San Francisco, Los Angeles and all the major national/state parks). I will also make a short trip to Las Vegas and Death Valley. Do you have any advice on what to see/do and what not to see/do in these cities/parks? Thank you very much in advance!
You could try Hegemonia Legions of Iron or Conquest Frontier Wars, both rather old but good games.
I agree!
I would vote for: 1) More small scale events instead of mega events, such as temporary moral problems within a civilization or problems with one particular planet or corruption which will cost a particular civilization xx bc per turn for xx turns. 2) The option to disrupt/break alliances between computer players via diplomacy 3) Extra names for planets and star systems 4) Option to lay mine fields with a constructor and to clean them up with another constructo
Brad I would buy the 10 dollar module updates if they offer good value for money (I especially like the idea to upgrade diplomacy!). I think most Galciv buyers do not expect you guys to put in your valuable leisure time to keep expanding this great game. After all If you would keep on upgrading the game for free, Stardock will eventually go bust, unless you earn your money with other products of course.
I would like to see the diplomacy side improved before I buy TA. I like all the new features though. Isn't hard to balance the AI's with the unique technology trees?
On ship and fleet combat Bzitok is the expert. You should check out his posts/replies on this forum. Further, the galciv wiki is also a good source on this subject.
Interesting lessons
Nice read! Try intelligent next time.
Interesting discussion. I hope more people will join this debate.
Indeed no competition for Galciv2. I tried the demo and liked it, but the research and ship design options are to much micromanagement for me. I like the planetery development aspect of the game.
Good to see that the dev aren't influenced by these dramatic posts. I seems that SOASE is a very good game and will only get better. Nonetheless, I hope that the time dev now put into the patches of SOASE doens't influence the improvement of the new Galciv2 expansion.
My suggestion is on (fleet/ship) combat. In DA the best way to go are large hull defensive ships. Combination of mixed type of ships are inferior. I would like to see this changed to a more realistic model in which the best way to go are mixed type of fleets with some capital ships (large/hull) and some escorts (small/medium type hull). This would be more realistic and fun in my opinion. More on DA combat model see https://forums.galciv2.com/post.aspx?postid=303279&p=1 Would b

Thanks Iztok, shame that the game was designed this way. I hope they fix in the next expansion. It would be nice if mixed fleets were the best way to go.
Hi guys, Seems an interesting tournament you have here. A quick comment on the previous post:
Sell military tech to a weak AI that is being bashed by other AI's. It's profitable and it will weaken the stronger AI's. When an AI has almost been wiped out (unless that's your doing) it's time to sell whatever they can still afford.
Is this really smart as an other enemy that conquers a weak AI can get this tech by conquering him?
Btw, where did you come across this equation?
Probably on the wiki or some kind of post on this forum. I am wondering whether you guys create big fleets with some big ships (capital ships) and some escorts (frigates/destroyers) or just same type of ship fleets? I think it would be more 'realistic' to have the former.
That is correct, the formula is total attack / (total defense + hit points) . The higher the result of the formula, the higher the priority for enemies to attack such a ship. But as you can see, the higher the attack rating (compared to defense), the higher the priority, so it's difficult to create a fleet in which you have some uber defense ship that takes all the hits and a couple of attack ships that do the damage.
Looks/plays quite nice actually. Huge maps and not so much micromanagement. I'll give it a try.
Unfortunately the link is broken. Is there some other way to reach this guide?
Also, I'm not sure if defenses deplete for each weapon type attack, like I described. From DA (Beta) Combat System it's not exactly clear, but it seems logically.
Could someone from Stardock comment on this quote? Thanks again for your excellent analysis Iztok. I am wondering Iztok whether you are happy now with the DA combat model or whether you actually prefer the DL model?
Will this be an AAR with screenshots?
