Keep us posted, interesting game stories!
Here is a intresting story I had with my current play. Im playing as the humans, and so far Im pretty much dominating(im playing on normal). I have a massive military, and have about half the galaxys population. I found a few planets controled by the drengin(the klingon like folk) and decided to spare some of my ships, I would pay the drengin to go to war with the Drath in exchange for money, and a few weapon techs I had that I could already counter. They happily agreed and off to war
Thank you guys for the great support! What are the negotiation tweaks?
What is the difference between tech brokering and trading?
Isn't a bit strange that you only get 'credit' for taking the last planet of a civ? Shouldn't you also get a penalty for starting any war and taking any planet from a different civ?
This was addressed some time ago.
But how? Anyone?
Thanks guys for all the quick replies, very helpful. I already noticed that lowering my AA really improved the fps performance, even though GC2 would be likely to be bottlenecked more by the CPU.
If I may ask, what is the underlying purpose for asking this? Is this information somehow being used as a buy determination for DA?
Well I am, just like you Mumblefratz, one of the few players who already bought DA but is still playing DL, since I still feel I have to master that game first and I don't think I like the new combat system in DA. That said, I sometimes experience that in late game my frame rate performance drops to lower that 30 fps when I have man
If you have one that properly supports the enhanced rendering option, it should run faster.
What's the enhanced rendering option? Is this new in DA compared to DL?
The thing is that this might be unknowable to the extent that it is probably very dependent on your specific video card.
I have a GeForce 8800 GTS 320 MB video card. That should be rather common I guess.
Does anyone know this, someone from Stardock perhaps?
Can anyone give me an indication how much better the performance (frame rate) of Dark Avatar is compared to Dread Lords? With the same (graphic) settings, how much faster does DA go? Also, how much difference does it make when you have AA at 4x compared to 2x in terms of frame rate performance? Thanks in advance!
THAT engine will be what serves as the basis of a future Galactic Civilizations III. That means GalCiv III will have features like tactical battles (as an option), multiplayer, more sophisticated planetary development, and much more.
Brad, please do not put 2 much micromanagement in Galciv3 as galciv2 tends to go into that direction (especially on bigger maps). In addition please make sure that without using tactical battles players don't have a disadvantage.
Thanks for the tips!
Also, what patch are you running?
Does it matter for the framerate performance?
Keep reducing your graphics settings
That is precisely what I asked, which graphic settings should I reduce to get better performance but without the huge reduction in graphic quality? Any suggestions? What do you guys do?
I have a pretty decent computer(intel duo, 3,2gb ram, 360 mb video card), but still I get drops of framerates when too many ships are battling each other. How do I get the optimal graphics/performance settings. Are there some tricks to lower some settings that really improve performance but which you don't really see in the graphics quality? Currently I have maxed everything to the highest and have AA at 2x. Is there a big difference (in performance/graphics quality) with AA non-mas
Where can you find your current driver version of Nvidia? I like to check which version I have now before I try to update it.
Is there already a fix (in some patch) for this problem? While I have bought DA, I still play DL since I like the ship/fleet combat system better. Does the upcoming patch 2.0 fix this issue?
Nice post. I will keep reading it and try to make intellegent suggestions.
Fun story! I hope that you keep writing these in the near future. How often did you bribe races to go to war with eachother or to sign peace?
P.S. GalCiv2 games made me very happy. This is because, I've got an A+ in my Advance Maths! I've got 98% in my exam - Maths rules, GalCiv2 rocks!
How does being good in math help you with Galciv2? Any tips/strategies?
Nice read, keep the stories coming!
Difficult situation. Perhaps the offense is the best defense in this situation. First of all get the Torians in war with other races and buy or grap some planets and resources that come available. But make sure you have some friends left if everything goes wrong. In addition keep growing your economy and get some ships fitted against the worst possible enemy. Good Luck! Keep us informed.
