That's nasty elvee...if it's an ongoing problem, disconnect the power button and hook the wire to a toggle switch somewhere else (hopefully where only you will know where it's at). I've done it to several 'problem' systems and the switch was nowhere near the 'puter. They can't hack what they can't start.

OK...it's been way too long seen I've dealt with DOS, but I think I understand what you want (and why you find it so irritating). This use to work, but have no idea if it will work in XP...go back to Folder Options, hit 'new' and type in .bat. When the prompt comes up to associate with new app, click yes and re-associate it with 'Batch File' (which is the same it should be now). It should change your DOS icons back to default. I'm not sure of the results since, for whatever reason, you don't hav
