Done, I've updated my account. Sort of. I have a Gal Civ 2 character named Ace Windu. Using same login name for Republic forums as here. Right now, I have a pretty good scaled down pic of Mace to use but it won't upload right or something. It says upload successful but stil same old elven girl pic. Btw 50*50 is too tiny to see any detail. Grr. Oh well Stardocks got bigger things on their minds right now lol. I'm so excited.
Supreme Shogun
*Beats dead horsey* WHY?? You're dead, why can't you stop ?? *Beats dead horse even more* Please go away.
Yes one thing GC2 has going for it is very competent AI. Personally, I don't think this is something I'd want. If you really want the tech from your neighbor go spy on him/her. Or you can trade for it.
I may have to rethink my naming. I used same login as my Civfanatics account. *evil grin* There is no Tokugawa in space soo..
Well I don't think you can add a major race but you could replace one, in that sense you can. You can add in minor races. . . i hope someone makes a Star Trek mod, replacing all the GC races with trekkie ones that would be swee It's pretty much a given that you can have your favorite
Heh. Well I am not convinced enough to buy it, however was an interesting advertisement. Made me stifle a giggle once.
There are different 'styles' of ships. About the parts, I'm thinking we all share the same Lego bin. and always modding.. You can make and add new parts or download someone elses modifications.
Break Even ? I want to hear about record profits next time!! Seriously, wish you and Stardock success. And just maybe you will tell us how you're doing sales wise later on.
True there. But I usually build attack fleets and invasion fleets. It's not a big issue to me since can always create another invasion fleet. Logistics matters more to me on attack fleets as in, "how much attack can I stack?"
Another question that I didn't see an answer for in the manual is, does damage affect the performance of ships at all? Or are ships at 100% effectiveness until they hit 0 hitpoints at which point they're destroyed? Yes. 100% effective until destroyed.
Practical vs. Theoretical - *disclaimer: only trying to help put it in perspective* At the beginning of the game when you first get weapons, its more than likely you can only fit one or two onto a ship. Same goes for defences. There just isnt enough room to have a 1/1/1 defence ship. Also worth mentioning at this point you may not have enough room for a weapon if you put in defense first. Engines? Stick with the base ones, you still ge
Is modding going to be as simple as I think it is? Well that depends. What's your level of modding ability? A first timer may be daunted if you say a lot of the data files are in XML. But if you have some experience say modding CIV4, then yeah its that easy. Sorry for another CIV reference but
cheers on the mods !!
omgroflmaobbq!!! nice original post. I'm with you man.
Count me in also. I've been looking for a Star Wars type empire, and decided to join the first I came across. I really regret not doing much metaverse with the first GC. I am very happy to have a chance at joining this one.
Yes but what type of attack and what type of defence? Having Chaff (missile defense) against a laser attack (beam weapon) isn't very effective. If you had beam defense on the ship vs a laser attack, different story. That's a lot of what the thread linked was discussing.. if you had the wrong defence you got something for it (better than nada) but you'll be lucky to survive/limp away.
You can purchase the game outright for a set price or use a certain # of tokens both from stardock.com. Apparently the number crunching shows that its $5 less to go the token route.
Its much more toned down, morale wise. In beta I found it hard to control large populations or keep them happy. Not so anymore. Researching 'morale' techs will keep your peeps under control and so will stock markets. Well not primarily, but they give a small bonus. Plus you may get lucky and have an approval bonus tile. Morale resources, like any resources really, jump on them and claim them for your use.
Yes any bonus to soldiering increases their effectiveness. This can come from several means like events and researching techs. Events like raising the dead or eating the eggs of birds on endangered species off the top of my head. The techs are in red (weapons techs) and eventually lead to an advanced troop module which is smaller and lets you pack more troops on transports.
Also you can try and get support from IRC (irc.stardock.com) channels #stardock or #galciv, would be a place to look. SDC has a chat feature which is IRC. Happy hunting. I remember long ago I had same issue and was able to update email addresses on a webpage at stardock.com but the exact url slips my mind. Sorry not much help there. Well good luck.
I can say I was born in an axis-of-evil country. I'll let you guess where. N. Korea ? Ohio, USA here for me.
Depends on how many "people modules" you put on your ships. While it may take many with the default, you can build more capacity ships later on due to larger hulls, advances in miniturization, etc. With 4 regular troop modules you can double that (2000m ). 5 of those would move 1 billion.
A poll? Like which horse has been beaten the most? LoL j/k There is fleet battles, the computer controls the ships and my own opinion is it's one of the coolest additons to the game. So you get to watch some eye-candy battles. It's not instant but you can speed up the movie camera.
I'd venture to say to expect various Star Trek and Star Wars mods in the future
