I'll share what I've been using. It's called Notepad++ and can be found here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/notepad-plus OR http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm I've had no problems with it viewing all the files in the data directory, and when it comes to actually wanting to mod an xml file its pretty nifty there. It's GNU General Public License, so free to download.

While I must agree with what has been said against Tactical. I don't want Tactical pretty much due to someone with lame strategy can make up for with superior tactical battles/wins. don't want to put salt in the wound, but what is it that doesn't work for you ? I have an nvidia card.. I had problems, movies, black screens, terrain going black the whole shmeer. I can't tell you how many settings I turned up, down (all around ). Downloaded the latest drivers (again) plus some bootleg where people thought they wrote their own better... 2 patches later it works like a champ. I mean none of that stuff has happend since v 1.52 patc
