Can I ask what the specs are for leader portraits? I imagine I could change a custom races portrait by changing the reference in the xml file but how big are the portraits ? What about the other graphic ? The one that represents your race ? Also how hard is it to modify a map or make a custom one ? Regarding star names theres two text files in the data directory, one called stars.txt and one stars.lst. Does the game use them both? If we want to toss in some of our ow

Yes you can cheat in a way, or make it harder or take a balanced approach, like give all the start planets a bump up from 10 to 15 PQ. It would also be a start of modding, since having correct system names is a must. Fooling around with the custom races you can make an uber race or something if thats not your cup of tea, then you don't have to mess with it. Also in the example above that was modding one of the races. You can always let the computer play it for a challenge. <img src="smil

Just a quick foll0wup. Regards to how many buildings on planets is determined by its quality. You get to determine what buildings are built where. Yes you can make an analogy between a colony management screen on GC2 and a city screen in Civ.

Well I really hate XP for the reason of Dos Box but I don't have the blue screens of death I had with Win ME. My favorite place to check out old games - http://www.the-underdogs.org/ I liked Alien Legacy a lot. Replayability ain't much, but I did want to play it again for old time's sake. Dune.. any dune fans of the RTS game (either dune 2 or dune 2000 ) ? How about some Starflight I or II ?

Yes... and no.. I think its possible by modifying certain xml files but the NO part is the game itself doesnt allow for that. But who's to say you can't do some custom art and and stuff yourself. Yes customplanets.xml is the one...

And there's another random event for the Fundamentalists. Man that sucks when it happens on small maps. Should be disabled there, I played a small map and max races. The fast and furious was able to get a planet not on their starting system. Most others just had their starter worlds. So this event happens in my game. The Drengin homeworld became the Fundamentalists HQ and they were left with Kona .. to summarize "Game Over" fo

Well it's a beta so test it out.. some of the event choices are kinda irrelevant sometimes (like minus population ) thats a bonus IMO since large pop = unruly. I don't think it was intended that way since production was tied to pop in GC1. I would assume you're referring to the one where you determine your course of action for the advanced ship.. I normally proceed to remain consistent to whichever philosophy I ascribe to, or plan to. That is 'do the good thing' if you're good, and evil i

My answer is no way. I'll be playing GC2 single player, loving every minute of it. As you can see in the other thread, both sides of the debate.. I have to agree with a game of GC2 takes way too long to MP.. especially since I dont play on tiny maps. hehe. I thought once that having MP would be good for GC2 but I've soon come to realize Brad's conclusions are true. Even if I didn't agree with them at first. However, you will be playing th

I went back and tried out the mouse wheel thingy, it works good. A whole lot better than click. click click, are we done yet? click, click click. Are we done yet papa smurf ?? click click click.. I know you get the point, so anyone who hasn't tried the mousewheel thing. Do so now, its better. And if your mousey doesn't have a wheel, well... I'd advocate getting one with a wheel.

Yes thats true. GC1 even had one. Sorry haven't messed around with it in GC2, but at least can verify that it will have one.
