Let me *try* to be the first to say "Thanks Stardock" and heap on some praises. Let us employ bards to document this epic date. Everything about this newly released game is WOW! Awesome. Thank you for your hard work, long hours, dedication, and passion for making the game. Absolutely the best! PS. Looks like even the pre-loading is a smash hit! I now call on the diplomats, veterans, and citizens of this forum to back

I don't know about 4x being the future, cause its a niche market. There's always going to be FPS and RTS and RPG/MMORPGS. The future does look bright. I suspect many strategy gamers will take a look at GC2. There will always be the dedicated and hardcore faithful strategy gamers but a game like this that looks good and plays good is going to draw new people to the genre.

Glad to help out Therjw. Mine was doing the same before I did those steps. @One-eye have you tried getting serials from Stardock (second link Brad posted) ?? I'll post this quote from another thread discussing same problem - this should help. 1. I d/l the Stardock central version from the link given by Frogboy and installed. 2. I got an email from support with my codes 3. I verified I still had the right codes in "registration info" (I had) 4. For G

Answering Post #2, had similar issue for a brief sec. Try following Brad's link and download the latest version of SDC. Restart the comp. Have stardock send you your serials, the other link. Put in serials under register product. Voila. worked for me.

As a PAYING customer of civ4 I use a work around just to skip the infernal CD check... makes me feel like a criminal. Heck I'd buy 5 copies of civ4 just on account it's that 'Hall of Fame' of a game, if not for the cd check stuff. As is now I'm just going to use tax returns to buy whatever else star dock makes just to say thanks for skipping protection. object deskt

Yeah you don't want to overextend yourself and push your economy into negative BCs if you can help it. It takes a bit of time to get new colonys working (not draining your funds). However, I would still rush to the juicy PQ planets. Overcolonizing is bad tactic, and it is similar to Civ4 that way. Only if your playing on low difficulty can you recover in time. The AI colonizes well but doesn't overdo. Also rush on resources is a must, if you don't you may find a starbase of another race.

Well at least you guys and gals @ Stardock know whats expected of ye on the magic day. *grins* I'm optimistic due to already being a Stardock fan. Regards to comments about being both a developer and a gamer, I can see that.. but I can also imagine its coming from experience with earlier games too. Despite all its success, I am sure there are those that flamed GC on its release and those who flame SDC. Even though it may be hugely popular, sell lots of copies and be regarded as

Close enough. So basically you're right even if the numbers were off a teeny bit. You can spend a few points in one area or a lot. Economics is one of my favs too!

Yes its really not cumbersome. Can set some colonies to be building a constructor and have them send to a rally point thats a starbase. When that base is all built up, can go onto another. The rally points are so cool, even if the ships are in mid-flight, you can order them all to a different rally point instead. Once I started including starbases into my games I found whatever win strategy I use, the bases are very helpful not to mention, owning the resources are key too.
