This isn't Stardock's fault. Its the mother %%@% that tried to mug you's fault. This is why I am against any form of gun control. People kill people not guns. If everyone at VA tech had been packing, I doubt Cho Sung We or however the F you spell that twisted guy's name would have masacred so many, but I digress.
Wow, props on the pointless, tangential, ignorant rant, Stanley. Way to give people a good impression of your country.
I've also read that in TA there is an even bigger universe size, which sounds superb, even if the games are even longer.
There is. I don't play huge or immense sizes, I get bored to tears by a game that takes too long, but immense size is ridiculous. :D
Therefore, what benefits would I get from buying either or both of the expansions??
As one who's never had the patience to get past the second mission of the first campaign, I'll tell you why you should buy them both. What does Dark Avatar have that Dread Lords didn't? Better tech tree, asteroids, three new races, super abilities, smarter AI. What does Twilight of the Arnor have that Dark Avatar didn't? Individual race tech trees, much better sh
Yes. It depends on what kind of game you want to play. If you want to play a sandbox game in vanilla GalCivII (meaning - no asteroids, no super abilities, no special condition planets, old-school espionage style) click on the Dread Lords icon. If you want to play a sandbox game in Dark Avatar style (all the stuff I just mentioned vanilla GalCiv doesn't have) click on the Dark Avatar icon. If you want to play a sandbox game in Twilight of the Arnor style (meaning all t

There is no way currently to change the Vista bootskin. End of story. So . . . you're stuck. Logons on Vista can only have the background changed, not the whole setup. So . . . you're stuck. As far as a WindowBlind, perhaps someone will offer to help you make it, but it sounds specific enough that you'll get to play with it all by your lonesome. So here's some tutorials and <a href=http://wiki.wincustomize.com/wiki/Main_Pag
I wonder where this fanciful imaginary land that the 'abstinence-only' people live in where people didn't have sex before the '60s came from. Because it's certainly not historically accurate. But whatevs.
But I like to pretend that I am in control of something, so these games are a blast!
 Isn't it funny how people who have a similar hobby can approach it from such different angles? Personally, I like to retaliate against the fact that life is chaotic and without control by reveling in a pretend existence where there is even less control and more chaos. In other words, by blowing crap up. But that's the beautiful thing about games -
Just to give readers an idea of who this Julie Christmas girl is, here's a picture of her in concert with Made Out of Babies: She's creepy and the most unique female vocalist I can think of.
I am going to need to check out Battle of Mice, I see.
Battle of Mice is GREAT as well. I think, deep down, I prefer MOoB, but Battle of Mice is brilliantly post-metal. The great thing about Battle of Mice is the conflict that is rife throughout the record. Julie was at one point dating the guitarist/songwriter, Josh Graham, and during the recording process, they had a nasty breakup. And that emotional tension transfers into both of their performances, making
Another bonus with (good) digital distribution systems is that you don't ever lose your disc, and if you need to reinstall, it's just a download away. Last weekend I participated in the 'Great Computer Meltdown of 2008' and had to restore my laptop to factory settings from my dedicated partition. Now, I'm an exchange student in another hemisphere from home right now, so guess what? All my games that were disc-installed are out of my reach until I get back home. (That means no UT unti
Sorry, I read Modernist and Postmodernist fiction in Spanish for fun. The only 'Science Fiction' book I've even read in the last five years or so was to reread Stranger in a Strange Land, because it's probably the most important sci-fi book ever written, IMO. So I can't really help on the Space Operas front. Although, if you want to listen to some kick-ass Space Operas . . . Listen to the discography from the band Ayreon from beginning to end. It's one
I tend to like games where I can slow down and think.
I think, deep down, I'm really just a 'casual' gamer with ADHD. Because I have trouble playing a game for too long. I just get bored easily. The beautiful thing about Deathmatch games is that I can start one up, play for 15 minutes, exit out, and get back on with my life. That's my biggest problem with SD's strategy titles - damn things suck me in for hours at a time, and that's against my usual gaming code
I liked Lucky Number S7even
Never did see the 'Lucky Number SLevin'. If you liked it, I'll have to check it out. One time I saw 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers'.
You know you're in my prayers, too, whip, and good luck with the quitting smoking - both you and the Hubby.
Se7en was a cool movie.
I'VE GOT IT I'VE GOT IT I'VE GOT IT I'm just going to start calling Deathmatch-style games 'Tycoon' games. I'll refer to UT as 'Bodycount Tycoon' and Quake III as 'Giblet Tycoon'. I mean, isn't the goal of a Tycoon-style game to amass wealth and control something? In a Deathmatch game, I amass corpses and lay down bitchslaps! Then I, too, can be a Tycoon gamer! ;) (I'm vaguely sorry that I haven't been at all contributing to the greater discussion. But this though
A "focused, driven aural assault" is just what I like!
:CONGRAT: It's scary and it's juicy. Maybe it's an acquired taste, though. If you do check it out, come on back and let us know what you think!
I wonder how much of that was me . . . ;) Congrats, Javier! :CONGRAT:
Ock: I guess she does want to kill the doctors after all.
When a game's mechanics work so well, there is only so much you can improve upon.
I'm not saying change the mechanics, I'm saying be a little creative and come up with a fresh setting, a new mythos, some new characters. I understand that they've got the gameplay down just the way millions of people like it. And I don't think they should change it if that's the case. I just think it's about time they made a NEW game. Sure, make it play like Diabl
