100 skins per page is alot of skins to look at on one page It is also a little too slow, 30 seconds to load page with 100 skins and that is on a 5meg DSL.
You should do a speed test to find out if your getting any where near what your paying for or get your isp to do a line check,i'm on what's supposed to be a 2mbps connection, the actual speed is 1.5mbps @ a download rate of 150kbps of dat

Does'nt need to inform a beta is being installed as you already know ;)
Sometimes the quickest solution is the longest do a reformat, ensure firewall is enabled before connecting to the net (what are you doing disabling it,it's your primary protection from infection from the net not your antivirus) go directly to microsoft update & don't leave until the OS has all the available updates by using the windows update not auto update,i could go into reasons why i suggest to reformat the only thing i'll say is if you have broadband you would've been back up & running in a
What happens when dble clicking on the logon skin itself will it automatically bring up the logon studio then show the new skin in it's preview window,if not i'd just delete logon, use ccleaner to clear the registry,go into program files delete the left over logon folder & reinstall ps: you don't have a spyware app blocking it do you
Kitty my advice is change your pc guy, firstly it's a computer anything can happen at anytime so dual boot or not data loss or boot corruption can occur,2ndly any data that's important should be regularly backed up to another media or an ext hdd anyway,3rdly he gave poor advice since there is such a thing as drive imaging but it would seem he's never heard of it tho it's been around for years (drive imaging:an exact clone of your working hdd to be used as a backup in case of emergency, usually is
Been using mwsnap for 4 years & it skins
Microsofts tweakui would be good for menu show delay, icon resizing & a bunch of other stuff, for any other registry tweaking & if your not familiar with the registry you'd be better off with a registry manager as an example: registry mechanic etc (i in know way endorse this product if you want to know what would be best see reviews @ cnet or pcworld etc). A word of warning when using registry managers make sure you reset to xp default before deleting a registry manager as it can cause OS
^lol ^ Rob i think i know why the differing specs,go back & recheck the OS's that are listed, OD has 32 bit only listed of xp & vista where as logon includes 64bit vista, vista i would've thought needed 512 minimum regardless of bit rate, however xp requires 512 dedicated ram to run at optimum while vista needs 1GB yet it's obvious they will still work but just run like a dog, since my comp came with only 256 with intergrated it was necessary to upgrade to 1GB & a much faster hdd,as xp did
One app every noob computer user should have installed & that includes you GURU *runs* :p ,is SECUNIA pc software inspector,it scans the computer for all installed software & lets you know what needs updating, what's no longer in service etc,it's free, that's "free" as in don't have to pay a cent. One thing i'd avoid is having a security suite, basicly security ware all by the same company, the reason being if it gets a virus or whatever there's a good chance it could disable the lot includ
I never had a prob with microsoft antispyware app slowing me down that goes for symantec antivirus too..lol..that don't mean it won't for others,i can't remember whether it was zonealarm firewall or the avast antivirus but one of em made a noticable difference in my surfing speed by slowing it down,it was like the phishing filter had been turned on..lol.. nowadays it's windows firewall & avg free,i quite often surf without antivirus & antispyware turned on,tho i can afford to i spose since i hav
Ahhh yes the north pole the one place you'd think it'd be great place to be a kid if it was'nt xmas 365 days of the year & 10-12 yo's get to reply to letters to santa sent from kids the world over :( ,i saw a doco on it last week the adults there oughta be ashamed
i guess happycamper is'nt such a happycamper..lmfao..
What a bunch of bloody whingers, your going on about price for how many apps are you getting in a single package there's around 27 apps divide that by revised price for ultimate it works out at around $2.60 for each app, then there's the member gallery which contains thousands of skins & are free, some of which are so dam good we all should pay for the skinners time,so give it a rest already & be thankful the price is still in US dollars & not Euro's :( , *loads scoped shotgun* ;p
God forbid that should ever happen just ask any phone help desk when customers ring up asking why is'nt their computer working, well sir have you plugged it in..lol.. so can you imagine those people using linux or OSX ,i don't even want to think about it,people just want something they can take home and works with only a small learning curve, linux & OSX are not for general joe public,if you think they are perhaps you should meet my dad..lmao..
java I'm not sure if it will help, the tools-folder options window has "restore defaults" buttons, also microsofts tweakui has a rebuild icon cache button tho i don't know if it will fix the missing overlay.
^^^^*mutley laugh* @ frogboy's post ^^^^^ yeah anyway xhanubis ma man,i can understand why you would'nt want to install stardock central to download & install it,i was quite miffed when i first bought ObjectDesktop ,only to find i had to use a manager to get it all, as i'm use'd to just using the .exe file, plus i get to make a hardcopy on cd or dvd ,well 2 years down the track i'm well over it, as it's quite a handy way to see what updates are available inc beta releases, more importantly SDC do
I visit afterdawn.com on a regular basis it's an ad sponsored site & i think is done quite well, there's no popup nags which are a real pain, just the odd static ad,highlighted words in posts & articles etc,i tend not to notice them for the most part,so yeah it will depend on how the ads are implemented in this site EDIT: There are ads in the WC & SD site go click on any link that directs you to any one of the galleries, there are links to the software for purchase on those pages if that a
Make sure nView is disabled, there's parts of it that don't get along with other customization software
(Citizen)dragonmage January 31, 2007 14:49:56 Reply #19 I was just wondering what happened to Sound Packager or was that dropped, or did you decide to make that a vista app?
When was the last time you opened SDC ;)
Beta 3 runs fine for me not that'd i'd know what to look for when testing for bugs anyway,so far however it seems to run pretty much the same as ff2,as for memory leakage i can't report any real major changes i've been gradualy getting worse year after year, don't laugh your not far behind ;p
Can't remember exactly but i'm pretty sure xp logon does'nt play well with multiple accounts i ended up having to turn off guest account & deleting some other account that xp made, you might have to wait for someone with a bit more knowledge
That's not the only crap one has to put up with, not so long ago i was in the motor industry as a automotive mechanic one of the classics is because you fixed their ignition system you must be at fault coz they seized their motor as it had no oil a week or so later..lol.. ok that's a bit xtreme but you get the idea, true story did a tune up on a customers car as the engine had a miss, vehicle itself was old & quite run down, however not really taking any notice of wires below steering wheel being ou
Be sure to uninstall trial before installing the bought version however you'd be better off getting objectdesktop suite,i can't be bothered explaining why you should buy the suite, lets just say wb by itself still leaves something missing,to backup what i say i bought the suite back in 06 & have now recently subbed till 2009 or is it 2010,no matter you get the picture & now my desktops kickass edit: i'll shoot myself before i EVER go back to orignal xp os themes even working on a mates c
Been using gran paradiso for a while glad i saw this thread i was unaware it's been upgraded coz the update button sure did'nt tell me
The one thing i find staggering is the software that gets bundled with the macs compared to pc's when i compare a imac all in one G3 from 2000 with OSX 10.2 to my pc S5020AN 2003/2004 with xp,dam! it makes me think what the hell ms doing..lol.. (i was given a imac G3 near the beginning of the year i liked it so much i bought another in case of failure since they're not worth repairing due to the cost, makes me wish i had become a service technician)
