As Meglobob says, all the AI's have inherant weaknesses. The DL can't research, can't adapt, can't fleet, and don't escort their transports. How are they so invulnerable? Sheesh, an Altarian could take them on. Bloody planet stealers.

Driver Date: 11/2/2004 10:19:48 Any chance of you getting that updated? Considering the game looks like it's growing slightly less tolerant with each new gameplay patch, you might run into problems come 1.2

delete the customracex.config files in the my games folder. It was a bug that got fixed in beta 3. So, it'll be permanently solved by next week, the hopeful date of the full 1.1

No. Built in are built in, and you aren't allowed to edit the .xml files in the metaverse. You can clear all but the base abilities, and spend 10 points on what you like if it helps.

Yup, xeno ethics stops the choices. If you choose evil, allows you to extort money from trade, free evil tourism, free planetary invasions, secret police projects, and VERY powerful weapons only evil may get (but not as good as doom ray, which rocks). Neutral gives a +1 advantage in invasions, neutrality learning centers (the most powerful research center), more trade routes (money) more tourism from neutrals, free terraforming, happier people. While y

I have seen a couple of fanboys but no whiners in this thread yet. That's because no-one, save the orignal poster, has posted anything negative. And you discredit people who really like, and will defend, stardock for making a great game? Pfft. Why should we listen to you, when you can read things from

Are you a multi-million dollar game and software developing company? No? Didn't think so. You can leave. Now. Turnaround is fair play as they say ... just, in the future, please don't use this line angainst someone else ... it's just rude. I used that merely because he was saying he "Knows

Ah yes, the starbase fun factor I love playing the underdog with tactics, and thoroughly enjoyed the AI thinking it could take me on, despite my network of starbases. A very expensive network, but well worth it. All the modules, all with at least one other SB overlapping at some point, planets covered by at least 3. Didn't need big fleets as my

Remember that borders are only as far as planets. If it was outside the border, it would annoy the AI. So, it's not weak AI, just totally hypocritical

As many techs as I traded my allies, they refused to trade any of the DL techs to me. DL techs are worth A LOT of money. Huge huge huge amounts. On DL parade (sandbox versus DL) I captured Adamantium 3 and got about 30k out of it from all the civs.

It's attack rating. Small ships give you more bang for your buck, and are a quick way to up rating. Build the spin control center on a planet, and have the most productive planet churn out dreadnaughts (very big expensive ones) and put them in orbit. In ten turns I added 100 odd to my military might by chucking out a bunch of 50 att ships and putting them on spin control. Thing is, if they all -- you, BE VERY NICE. No matter how good your ships are, th

When it wants to win a cultural victory. Just accept it, and counter it with your own SB. Better yet, rush up to cultural conquest, the natural boost to influence alone netted me 8 Arcean planets.

I agree with pathfinder. You have no idea what makes a good game, if you do shove off and make one. Are you a multi million game and software developing company? No? didn't think so. It's "Dread Lords" actually, and if it literally takes you 47 hours to learn the mechanics, just leave. Now. They're meant to be overpowered. Duh, that's the whole point. Go play sandbox until you know how to play the game. It doesn't need to pick a

Won't be. You can tweak the .xml to remove starting class zero's but, lets face it, most planets are class zero. And the dev's agreed not to go for too much realism, due to things like it taking half an hour to scroll from jupiter to the oort cloud, which is still in our own solar system.
