Perhaps 2 seconds to is just too long of an effect. If it lasted maybe .5-1 sec and had a startup time of .5-1 sec, it would require more thought. Also, I agree that it's way too cheap. Should be more like 2500 for the scroll or the damage reflected back should be severly reduced (10%-20%). Anyway, if you had to time the impact perfectly, I wouldn't see it as being such a raw deal. Not to mention you can always dodge the reflection (or at least, that's how it sho

Well, there should be a scroll that also affects non-magical skills as well. That way, at least you have to have to pick one or the other (IE, no blanket reflect). In either case, I don't think it should reflect the full damage of the spell/skill anyway. I think 50%-80% works out better. If you think about the base mechanic (invincibility for 2 sec + enemy damage) returning the full damage of a spell/skill seems a bit OP. Also, there's the proble

Hmmm, my most recent would be Sacred II. I mean, hack and slash rpg; it's mindless fun, how can you go wrong?? But yeah, somehow they screwed it up. It started out fun, but leveling up just got boring and skill improvements were uninspired (OOOOo, 5% more damage, woohoo :(). Titan Quest is soo much better (and I got it for $4).

Great ideas, but I have to reject the idea of player controlled angels. Aircraft tend to be the most difficult units to balance in RTS games (at least ones that use real aircraft, and not floaters). I don't think they add enough strategy -- on top of the strategy you've already added -- to really make them worth the work. Just go back to the great ASF debate in supcom; the corsair vs the T2 aircraft of the other factions (sorry, only played cybran so I trouble with the other

Maybe: if you increase the gamespeed, you make the game more "fast paced" without having to build all speed items.

Where the minions spawn is irrelevant. It's how usefull they are. Seriously think about it. If the game played exactly like it does now, but instead of idols, you had barracks, would anything really change? No, you'd just spawn them at your barracks, then send them to your general and play exactly as you do now. The minion-general relationship needs to be changed.

I think Gnats has some good ideas, but I'd like to present some alternate ideas and some possible problems with the idea. Sorry, but this may end up like a disjoined stream of thought. Is there really any need for barracks? Idols basically serve that function, they just need some major adjustments to the mana cost and cool down. Personally, I liked your idea where minions spawned at certain intervals; this way, you buy your idol, and the units just sta

In reality, DG's RTS* elements aren't that much different than other RTSes* such as DoW2 or WC3. The problem with DG is force projection. You only get ONE focal point, your demigod, as opposed to the other games; and your minions don't work well alone since they can't cap flags and just aren't very strong in general. Maybe if a general player got more than 1 general-type demigod, or maybe if each general had a sACU type unit.... *Honestly, DG, DoW2 and

You can't fight your battles without your General right there in the front line, so they're not going to be different from Assassins. I think the main problem is this dependency. If it were to be that a General did not have to be on the front line to function as normal, then it would be better.[/quote] Takin

I tend to agree with you. Since games are only to last on averge 30 min, and you already have to spend gold to upgrade your citadel, it's very unlikely that you'll see items over about 5k, if even that. IMO, top tier items should be around 7k, so they're still very rare, but at least there's the possibility of them showing up. Barring that, I'd like to at least see some items costing around 2k; as it is you're either spending ~1k or nearly 4k gold on items.&
