When you click on you first run Gal Civ and the mini menu opens up, there is an option that says "Switch Chapter". This switches between Dread lords and DA, you will have to be in the appropriate game to run the campaign that you want.

Out of curiosity, are you playing Dread Lords or Dark Avater? Becuase in DA the races all have super abilities, which give them a lot of flavor. For example, the Drath (who I used to ignore) are now one of my first targets/allies since they can quickly get most of the galaxy to gang up on you if they feel threatend (I had a total of 9 races, both major and minor, declare war in a matter of a few turns one time).
Actually he needs to turn it down. The game "always turns into a war" because he's not keeping up in production, research, or anything else. The AI sees him as weak, then, and decides to take him out. He seems to be upset that they're always choosing to eliminate him militarily, because he doesn't understand that influence and diplomacy are reserved for civilizations you can't just roll over. Your right, I was thinking that my two suggestions would be ta
From what you have described, it seems that you need to do a couple things to reacht eh game state that you want: 1) Get more experiance with the game. Once you learn the game mechanics then you can easily play a game focused on diplomacy or influence. A big thing to remember with those play styles is that it becomes less about playig the game, and more about playing your opponents. Also, while you may be a "research race", you have to think big picture about it. You may be
Raising taxes while cutting speanding leads to a budget surplus? Who'da thunk it... Note, this is actually a way (albeit not a good one) to increase your approval. If you crank up your taxes to the point that your approval is in the red (single digits are best) then your citizens will leave your empire in droves. Once that happens, you can reduce your taxes, and have a higher aproval due to the reduced population. Side effects may include: revolts, economic collapse, and vil
I would try to ally, then try to culture flip them.
I just got an idea: the Strongbadian flag as a race logo! Well, they already have Strongbads head as one of the race logos.
Never read it since i'm located in the Northern countries but if most gamers think they're the best, why are they shutting down and not the one of the other PCgame magazines? Any number of reasons, including, but not limited to: *Increase of internet review sites that offer material for free, and that material much faster due to not being limited by paper publishing and shipping. *Casual gamers not wanting an in depth review magazine, b
I started my subsription back during it's "Stratagy Plus" days, teh cost was extremly low fr the amount of content that it had. I personally think the magazine started to go down hill once they changed formats (around 2002 or so). Still, it will be missed. Shine on you crazy diamond!
never being treated as a full human being, not being able to move 5 inches without being flooded by advertising, everything in this coutry boiling down to the dollar, our/their peers (at 25, i guess i'm a boarder case), the constant atrocity of our government, the misuse of my tax money towards ends that only benefit the wealthy and power-laden, McDonalds and MicroSoft... why wouldn't you be angry at this world and this country? I guess I just have a com
Being from CA, I'll tag onto the opposite end of that stick. You shouldn't really drive 80 on the freeway when you are in the same lane that traffic is trying to merge into....Around here you sometimes only get one or two dashed lines. You simply can't get up to 80 in that kind of window. I agree, that is what the inside lanes are for. What I am talking about are those who try to merge going around 40 miles an hour (I was doing the posted 65).
I have a new rant, stemming form a receant trip I made to Utah. Why do some drivers not understand that when merging onto the freeway, that you should do so while traveling at or near freeway speeds?!? That is why they made the acceleration ramps! When you merge going 20-30 miles an hour below the flow of traffic, you are inviting an accident to happen!
I thought the two games have the same requirements? They do. Just becuase two games have the same basic requirments to run doesn't mean that they have the same requirements to run optimally. Since DA has better graphics and AI, as well as more potential items on screen, people might experiance more slow down. It's a bummer, but the price of innovation.
This is CRAZY! They would rather be exterminated then give me a non-military tech???? I hope this gets fixed - this was one of the things that I hated about CIV4. I remember pre-patch DA that an AI would give you just about ANYTHING to survive - which was a lot more realistic. Maybe they don't trust you, and figure taht you will wipe them out anyway, so theymight as well spite you. If I were in thier place, I would turn you down as well.
Plus, judging by your medals, you seem to have an awful lot of free time on your hands for someone who is going to school and I would assume, working to pay for your tuition? Well, if you look at my games list, you will notice a large gap from April '06 until Jan '07. During this time I was either working, or so loaded with classes that I had other things to worry about then playing GalCiv (although I did play from time to time). This semester is light
I may be younger then you Evil. But, as a college student at a private university, whose parents are not paying for my education, while also not taking any Federal loans (yet), and with Law School still ahead, I think I understand about not having a lot of money laying about. if all you work for is to pay bills then what do you have left in your life? That would be a horrible way to live, I agree. But making "personal" purchases to validate th
On the more-than-just-me front, it isn't only the rich keeping "us" down. It's many of "us" being unquestioning lovers of spending money. Advertising works in at least the general sense of spreading a sense of "needing something" whether it's from the grocery store, the mall, a telecom company, a car dealership, or an airline. IT's been said by someone wiser then me, concerning the problem of debt in the US (and the self imposed economic slavery that it
I've said it before, and I shall say it again: It is time for the Snathi to become a major race!
Good Luck, If you want an idea of the issue`s with this activation system wander over to my thread "[email protected] a joke" My, what a change of heart from this comment you once made: I followed your instructions and with a little tweaking of my own I am now playing DA on my non internet PC. I know it has been said on these forums many times before, Stardock`s customer support is outstanding. Thank you aga
I haven't seen it in DA, but I saw it several times in DL. It seems once a minor race goes on a killing spree tat they take half the galaxy. I actually was conquered by a minor race once, it was kind of embaressing (I was already losing a war with the Drenjin, and in came the minors).
So if I'm the attacker, I get the Super-Warrior attack. Then I get the attack round. Then my opponent gets their first attack? Galen Kind of. Combat is normally handled where BOTH the attacker and defender fire, tehn damage is applied, and any ships that need to blow up are blown up. It continues that way until combat ends. With super warrior, if you attack a ship then you get one free round of shooting. So you shoot at them, damage
It is my personal favrite of the abilities. Since I'm not the best at streamlinig my economy, I usually can't support a large number of ships, so I use just a few very high end expensive ones. Sicne I don't want them getting blow up all over the place I use this ability to maximize my ships survivability.
Since everything depends on economy in the long run, is it possible to play without inital bonus in economy? Or is it only possible with special combinations of bonuses and/or super abilities? What experience do you have? Actually, I have found that everything isn't dependant on economy. I played one game where my whole goal was to get a civil war withen my empire, so I basially ran my approval around 0%, which quickly crashed my economy. After turn
Well, despite claims to neutrality, the Swiss did recently invade Liechtenstein. WWW Link The moral being, never trust another nations military, especially when they are stronger then you. maybe the Peacekeepers just changed thier mind. Jokeing aside, I have heard this before. But, I've never had the even happen to me, so I don't know how all it works.
Hey guys! I have a question for everyone. What size galaxy would you recommend for a brand new player and how many races? Abundant planets or no? If anyone could please answer this and anything else I have overlooked I would appreciate it very much! Thanks! I would suggest either tiny or small, with only one or two other races. That way you can get your feet wet, but not be totally overwelmed. The game takes some getting used to, and that was the setup
