The faster we drive this government into bankruptcy the better. Yeah! Who needs fire departments, paved roads, defense from foreign militaries, and civil order! Let's not forget how we can get rid of hydroelectric dams, prisons to hold serial killers, the ability to mail a letter from anyhwere withen our borders to anywhere witehn our borders for less then fifty cents regardles of how cost ineffective it is, power grids, sewage, and safety standards!<b

I've never actually played it, but I've heard nothing but awfulness (except for a few people who said a user mod fixes some of the problems and makes the game better).
My whine and rant: I ran out of food last night, so I got to go shopping today. Due to a receant storm, I had 8 inches of snow on my hood and windshield, with a nice underlayer of ice. That was no fun to scrape off, especially since I forgot my gloves, and was too lazy to go back to my apartment to get them. I need a garage.
Go with neither game, MOO3 FTW!
w00t! I was starting to wonder about this, it had been a while since any thing had been said officially.
Over teh last few weeks, I've found it interesting how strikingly differant the release of DA has been from the release of DL. Once Dread Lords was on the scene, everything was a flurry of activity, bug stomping, journal entries, and such by the devs. However, with DA things have been as quite as I think I have ever seen them on this website. The last dev journal was more then three weeks ago, and any patch development has been kept pretty hushed. I understand that after the many mo
Spec wise, I know it requires a 600mhz/128mb ram/64mb ram v-card. Is there ANYWAY I can get around the 64mb V-card? Mine has 32megs. It's a 1.2ghz athlon, and it seems like the specs are fairly normal for an older game, but the video card is kinda high compared to everything else. My computer is recently formatted with tons of space and has little or no issues with lag on anything whatsoever. The game actually has quite a bit of 3d rendering in it. I'm
Well that sucks. I may decide not to buy Dark Avatar then since my strategy is to develop an extremely robust economic empire with very good manufacturing capabilities. The same system existed in Dread Lords, it isn't new to DA. You may not have noticed it in DL before, but it is there. If your economy model worked in DL, it will do just fine in DA. So... what kind of fighters do you build that cost 10,000 bc each? Most of my capitol
Has anyone else seen this or is this a design of the game please help. That is there by design actually. I'm not sure why exactly it's there, but it's been discussed before. Since I rarely have that much money, it doesn't make that much of a differance to me, so I never took the time to read the reasons that were given.
Since allies don't ever seem to turn on you they make research and influence victories much easier. I thought so too, until my last game. I had two alliances, one with the Arceans, and one with the Altarins. I was playing a neutral custom race, and I decided to go to war with a nearby empire. This empire wasa custom race i built (my first try), and is a religous empire called the "Holy Rollers", ruled by Ned Flanders, from the planet Leftorium. As s
If it's just money, I would say stock exchanges would be better. Due to the diminishing returns (due to teh amount needed to keep them happy), I would say maybe one farm, but then go with exchanges. This will allow an easier time when you go for Federation, which brings a hefty bonus with it. If you poke around, ther eused to be a few threads about maximizing your money making. However, these applied to DL, and may not work as effectivly now. IIRC, Mumblefratz had a really good syst
this looks like a good place for this question if your game is flagged as a cheat does that mean that the win/lose will or will not be added i know that the points are lost Pretty much. It will show up as in your "Games Played" stat and on your game list, but they won't be credited as a win or a lose.
Mine are being accepted, it just acts a little wonky (randomly assigning me a race that I didn't play from time to time).
Fued, I believe you have your time line mixed up, Sorry pal: Indeed I was, thanks for the correction! I mistook the GaCiv Beta as the release date, sorry about the mix up. While researching my error, I came accross this post from Draginol comparing histories of the two games, an interesting read! WWW Link
Don't forget teh great tactic of giving them all of the planet upgrades that they don't have right before you declare war. It wrecks thier economy as they try to both fight a war and upgrade their planets, jsut be sure that you can take out thier major centers before they start rebounding! A personal favorite of mine is to find a enemy planet with a couple transports on it, mark downt he ship numbers, then buy allthe ships on that planet. Then, jsut reinvade the planet. You end up us
I guess some people are saying that the developers originally tried to balance the Mega Events, but then a majority of some group of people "voted" for deliberately unbalanced events. Not really, the developers were the ones who originally came up with the idea for the Mega Events to be unbalanceing. Those on the forums just voiced our approval, and gave suggestions for possible events. I'm not saying that endless t
forget it guys anyone who says anything negitive against the ea are going to get stomped If by "stomped" you mean encouraged to continue playing the game, turn off the features that are too advanced for thier level of play, and read the game manual/development journals to better under stand the game's feautres, then yes, you will be "stomped". That is all we are asking. We are not trying to divide the community, we are not trying to insult any
I've seen Minor races get thier expansion AI "unlocked", so to speak, and ramapge across half the galaxy. They were blowing things up like a pyro in a propane plant. I suspect that witht eh many planets they took that they would have found some use for the techs (although this was in DL, but I think the principle applies).
would have to sell all of my ships to gain money i wish you people would actually read what i write before you condenm me I have been reading what you have written, and I'm not tryiong to condem you. I'm just saying that you don't need money to win. It helps, but isn't neccesary. Besides, your issue is beside the point. The point of this thread is to prevent the nerfing of the mega events, and to encourage those who don't seem to understand t
in either case if you have to drop all of your ships to get the economy going to the green and you can't build ships how do you win Trade, manipulate, finangle, you know, the works. You don't drop your ships though. You start proxy wars, turn people against each other, build up alliances, etc. You can win, I know becuase I have done it (speant abotu 85-90% of the game so far in debt that production and research had ceased).
if i had known it was a temp recession i would have held out but there was no warning on top of that i even dropped my spending to 0 to no effect So, you didn't stick things out? Part of the game is rolling with the punches, and playing to win regardless of how the outcome looks. You havn't lost the game until your last world falls, and if you quit before that time, then it is your own fault. IF you stuck it out, then your economy would have
and what is wrong with a warning about a recession how does that change the game I thought that it did give you the standard warning, as it does at the start of all Mega events. It has always given me warnings when it started.
all i am/was trying to say is there needs to be a minimum number of turns between events and some kind of warning that you have a huge recession on your hands now i guess you GOOD players can chew me out for that too First of all, the point of this thread isn't to try segregate the two groups into the "good" and "bad" players. The point of it is to try to explain to those who do not seem to have a full understanding of what the Mega events
i don't want it to be like the UN. why make a federation if its just another mini UN. If you want to be really technical, there is a differance between the two. The Federation as described in Star Trek is a Federal system of government, while the United Nations (as it exists today) is a Confederacy. The differance between the two is that in a Federal system the lower units are subordinate to the upper (in it's most basic form, I'm not includi
do mega events happen in Dread Lords? that's the only one I have Not the kind we are talking about. You will get galactic events, such as the galactic recession, speed increases, assasinations, etc. However, the Mega events operate on a much bigger scale.
