Many players, both young and old, have complained lately about the Mega events, and their unbalancing or "game killing" effect. When the idea for them first came out, the Devs asked us (the players) if we would want these events to be there to totally unbalance the game. The vast majority said yes, but out of consideration for those who might not like them, we asked that they be optional. The Devs listened. It doesn't seem that I have been the only person that has the same problems with the game. There are other posts that say the same things. I posted this not just to reach the players, but in hopes that one of the guys that made the game would just hear my angry constructive criticism and maybe change things in a future patch or game project. I agree, the people here (myself included) have a habit of jumping on issues rather quickly, however you must also
I think of it this way. Yes, low end planets become huge, but it comes after significant investment (both time and money). Nicer planets are instant, but don't upgrade much. The differance is like that of buying your food or planeting a garden. One takes more time, but has a better return.
Um, I could be wrong, as I haven't had a lot of chance to play DA, but I think you can build older buildings on planets now. I seem to remember a tab on the right side somewhere. Or I could've imagined this. Yes, it is a new feature to DA.
In my last game I colonized a Class 1 planet, by end game it had been upgraded to Class 19. Now I colonize everything.
Nope. Just double click on your survey ship, and a ship screen will pop up. On the side are two options, Auto Survey and Auto Explore. You want Auto Survey. Eventually you will run out of anomalies, then you can switch it to Auto Explore (a screen will pop up when this happens).
And they're "pirates?" Oh yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I mean, what the heck could anyone have that they'd want to steal anyway? Women, rum, and Spanish Dubloons. What else?
It might not be DA compatable, in which case you did nothing wrong.
Okay. But what about if you conquered it culturally? The Drengin would still be living on Drengi. Good point, I never thought of that. I will answer with a firm and decisive "I don't know."
Also, I don't know if this is in campaign mode which I haven't tried... but it would be VERY helpful for new players if there were "warning" popups the first time you did something stupid. Like, the robot advisor comes up and says "planet X is burgeoning with a population of 18 billion, as we pack more and more people into a world they will become increasingly hard to satisfy". Or "civilizations are becoming increasingly hostile towards us, probably because our militar
I would like to see some way that soldiers from worlds homeworlds of conquered culture have a soldier ranking of their own base value + my races tech. To me, it just seems to make sense to draw my space marines from the ranks of these new worlds. This would make sense, except the way that the game is modeled is that the people now living on Drenji are not Drenjins, but your own race. Were I to move to Japan, but there were not more Japanese living there
how many games have you even recorded that you have lost non right That would make my record much more impressive. But alas, I cannot claim undefeated. I am currently 24:8, not exactly a stellar record. As a result, I don't claim to be good. However, those reasons you mentioned are not neccesarily game enders. It is completly possible to win a game while having a tanked economy. It isn't easy, but through shrewed negotiations, and a bit of
I'm going to be honest here. While everyone has a right to play at thier own pace, and GalCIv isn't meant to be a game catered to teh elite players, your Metaveres record has 102 games recorded, with only five of those being wins. I don't think Megaevents are your problem.
In my latest game I found a class 1 planet. There wasn't much else around, so ona whim I decided to colonize it, figureing I might sell it off or something. As a class one, it had no tiles on which for me to build. There was the colony base, and that was it. I played a neutral race, and over time (about three or four hours of game time) built up the terra forming techs. When I finally remembered the little guy, I was shocked to find it had flourished into a Class 19, the best planet
1. Galaxy Size: Gigantic 2. Habitable Planets: Rare 3. Number of Planets: Rare 4. Number of Stars: Rare 5. Star Density: Tight Clusters 6. Total # of Opponents (minor & major races): 9 major, 8 Minor This really doesn't give you a very good planet variety. But I like the feel of the game, as it gives it a big empty space feel. Engines and life support really play a huge role in this type of game. The AI isn't the best at it, but I like it.
First off, welcome to the community! There seems to be two main types of players, thsoe that play by numbers and those that play by feel (doing what seems right due to experiance). I'm more a "feel" type, and judging by your questions, it looks like you are a lot more interested in the numbers then I am. So I don't know how much this will help, but I'll try to answer a couple of your questions. In response to your questions: Defenses: It is explained in the manual on page 4
Any suggestions on what type of paper would work best for this? Since I don't have a printer I need to do it up at school, and I don't want needless trips/costs.
Use the print screen button to copy the image, then paste it into paint. Not very practical, but the only way that I have found so far.
Haven't played it, don't think I will either. This topic should really be in the "PC gaming" section of the forums.
On topic however let's see if you can mod some... SPACE CARRIERS!!!!!!!!! I second this idea so long as I can use them in multiplayer tactical combat!
Awww i want a little metal spaceship! What contest? I feel left out of the loop... What memo did i miss? It was the "design a charecter" contest.
I didn't know you could change your government back. Probably should have been able to figure that out for myself... oh well. Knowledge for the next game. This is especially helpful if you get the galactic depression event (where apporval rates plummet). THat way you can stablinze things before your next vote. Just remember, it is much more fun if you refer to it as "disolving the Senate" or "seizing authority".
Got mine today - w00t! Thanks for the Priority Mail treatment, Stardock! I second that!
The drengin had 5 frigates. I went searching all the boxes in the tech tree with no clue what I needed to also build a frigate. There should be a legend, with pictures of each ship that can eventually be built and it should tell you 'exactly what you need to make that ship' and if you have some of the techs already, it should tell you ONLY what you still need to make it. The AI doesn't use set design molds. Thier ships are designed based upon what tech
1) Make the Snaithi a major race. 2) Make the Snathi a major race. 3) Perhaps a good race of chipmonks to balance out the evil Snathi. This shouldonly be implemented after 1 and 2 are.
