It was about 11:00 Pm last night, I had finished several hours of homework, and I thought I would get an hour or so in on DA before bed. So, I started up a large galaxy with nine major and 8 minors selected (things got crowded quick). The next thing I know it's 1:00 AM, the Drath are paying off everyone to go to war with me, the Korx have the megaevent going that increases thier research AND manufacturing, and my empire now controls about a third of the galaxy. "Ok", I decided

I"ve submitted two games to the metaverse since I got DA, and it seems to be acting a little strange. For one game it says I was the Yor, and another it says I was the Iconians, but both times I was playing as my custom race (the Rapscallions). I figure it's just some early jitters, but I thought I would point it out so it can get fixed ASAP! Thanks for the great game!

I would have to sy that what I am enjoying most about DA is what Frogboy calls "fluff". The cool intelligence reports, ships orbitig planets when you zoom in, better combat effects, etc. Yeah, they don't make that big of a deal, but it's still cool! A close second would be the new glactic events/ mega events/ UP issues. The old ones had gotten kind of stale, so I get all excited now when something happens.

I've been hitting the planets I can colonize immediatly, then coming back for the others. One thing I've found though is that researching the colony techs can be very rewarding, in that the AI will trade money, tech, and the family dog to get them from you. For example, yesterday I was playing on a medium sized map, and al the worlds had been colonized. I took a little bit of time to research a couple of the colony techs, and even though there were no worlds to use them on, the AI wou

What can I say, for a poor college student like myself $20 is a lot (it's a week's worth of food if I want to eat good, 3 if I don't!). Did you get an e-mail with a serial number in it? If so, then you can begin downloading now. Also, the realease date is on the 14th.

I only discovered the game two days ago in a Joystiq article, and I stupidly did not think to buy DL and preorder DA only. You actually go the cheaper deal (by a lot). Had you bought them seperately you would be paying about $20 more (plus extra shiping and handleing if you got the cd's). I'm not sure about stardocks policy on the matter, but I think you took the best route for someone in your posistion.

I thinkmy favorite part of the updated manual is the explanations that have been added to the back. WHile much of the information has been availible on various parts of the website, I'm glad there is a condensed, easy to referance version. It will be a lot easier now to answer the many "why doesn't this game have stargates" questions that arise every month or two (I would say that it would end them, but unfortunitly experiance has taught me that even if something is stated explicitly

On the diplomacy screen, where it lists all the empires you have had contact with, if you click on a empire, below the portrait of the leader will be a box that says "break alliance". Click this box, and your all set. Note: I havn't tried this with DA yet, so I don't know if the screen has changed.

Not to mention the ctrl + + makes text bigger. Which my poor, old eyes need... If you are using firefox you can also hold down Ctrl and use the scroll wheel on your mouse to adjust text size.

For TBS: GalCiv2, MOO2 was one of the first games to really hook me, and it was an easy transistion. For RTS: DEFCON, by Introversion. Cool concept, excellent execution, and amazing atmosphere combined with a great demo. I played the demo for about a week, then bought the full version.

From a political view (trust me, I'm a scientist!) you can see similar situations. A candidate will appeal to their base during early (pre-primary) times inorder to gain early funding and such. However, since most people are not hard line conservatives or liberals, they will spend most of their campaign trying to appeal to the moderates. Since ideology (when placed on a simple X/Y axies) takes the form of a bell curve, with most of the people in the middle, it is the only practicle thing to d

Look, if english is not your primary language, then sorry about the puncuation crack. But, it's common knowledge that typing in all capitol letters is both rude and obnoxious. As for sites with Stargate pictures, here is one, but it's not that great. Good luck trying to find one! WWW Link

Your best bet is to be an evil civ, and to make your people as unhappy as possible, by using taxes, over population, and lackor morale buildings. The problem with this is that it wrecks your economy. I actaully tried this once, wrecked my economy (got the civil war though), but still managed to win on a large or a gigantic galaxy despite teh being massivly in debt and having no military. Details of it can be found here. WWW

GalCiv 2 by itself, or GalCiv 2 with the expansion pack as well? Mine altogether takes up about 1.1 gigs. (counting the save game folders and such, but sine those fodlers are empty, your results my vary over time).

Edit: -------- Don't let the fact that we disagree with your strategy intimidate you. You might have a good point. I agree, we aren't trying to discourage you, I hope I didn't sound like I was!

Your best bet would be to move both the files from your savegame and ships folders to teh corisponding folder on your laptop. Make sure you transfer both standard game and metaverse files (if you have any) since they are in seperate folders.

Wow... While I applaude your enthusiasim for making a "how to" guide, I must admit that I disgree with your technique. I have been noticing that about 45%(actual statistics may vary) of all GCII players play on normal difficulty or lower mostly because the AI always becomes a military challenge. I'm guessing that you have bee

Ok, good to see the source material. I'm guessing what he was talking about there is the same system that they used for distribution of DL, where we got to start downloading it about a week or so in advance, since he said "start getting it" and not "will get it".
