No, trade goods are handled as an exclusive item that gives empire bonuses to those who own them. If you build a trade good, you may keep it for yourself, or sell/trade it to another empire (you retain it's bonuses, but they gain them as well, you can only sell it to an empire once, but you may sell it to any or all of the empires). If someone else builds the trade good first, you may purchase it from them. When I said trade empires, I meant something else. You can build trade ships

Everything depends on what type of empire you are building, and what type/size of galaxy you are playing in. Once you are into the game the colony rush ends, and it becomes an issue of survivng. That's where the real fun is, once everyone has established empires and agendas you must find a way to survive. I prefer the late game (some don't), you can have epic campaigns, bitter defeats, massive cold wars, trade empires, etc. It's great!

i fear that fuel prices will continue to rise right up to the point where Bush's 4th reich starts nuking the mid-east. then i suppose nothing much matters at that point. Yeah, that make a lot of sense. The oil is expensive, so we destroy the place that has the most of it, so that we then have none. It's not Bush's fault. Oil production

If you give a minor race an extra planet and some troops, they do wonders. In one game of mine, the Drenjin allied with a minor race. The minor race somehow got an extra planet, and it unlocked thier conquest AI. Suddenly, I had minor race transports and ships every where, and the took over more of my empire then what the Drenj did. It was emabaressing, but really neat to see. So if you want the minors to do that, ally first, then give them several planets plus tech and m

I havn't played the demo, but here are a few ideas: 1) Learn how to use your tax/spend sliders early on. It makes a big differance. 2) Learn how to buy things (many don't figure this simple concept out, then get frustrated that they are taking so long to build up). 3) DON'T buy on credit/installment. Until you get good with the economy buying on credit can quickly snowball into a major drain on your finances, and ruin your economy. 4) For your first several

I can usually run at about 85-90% approval at 80% taxes, but as soon as I hit 81% my approval drops to about 15% (the best I got was 17% i believe). I didn't have as many planets as that though, nor as many morale resources.

I find it fun to check the user reviews for GalCiv 2 on gamespot every so often. The best ones are the low rated. As I read the ones rated about 5 or lower, I notice certain things. 1. Most say it is slow or boring. I don't know what they expected pace wise form the game, I don't think they understood that Galactic Civilizations 2 is not pronouced "Quake" when they bought it. 2. Most complain about how MOO2 was better graphics wise. I think they either didn't realize that

The Intruders came around 65 years ago (tail end of World War II). They really didn't get going until after the Korean War. There was no Vietnam war in this alternative history. Does that mean all the hippies just got jobs instead?

Ok, in the description, it says that the stories happened to many of the characters long after the events of the main series of stories It also says that one such character is DL Bradley. I think he is mentioned in the Dread Lords campaign actually and (spoiler warning) at the end of GalCiv II: Dread Lords he is in a pocket dimension. (Dread Lord Bradley?) Now, the stories seem to take place in a modern time frame (it mentions China, the U.S., nuclear weapons, etc.) Th

Your ideas of basic gameplay (or "facts") are, quite frankly, things that I don't want in the game. What is basic to you is not to me, and apparently not the designers either. Constant crashing? Maybe on yours, not on mine. As for other games (like Empire at War or Hoemworld), if you like thier options and features more, then just play them. Demanding that every game have the same mechanics means that there is really only one game, with differant skins attached. <br

Sorry pedxing, but the planet climate/habitation things won't be in 1.3. They are going to be introduced in Dark Avator, the expansion pack going on sale this fall.

It is well known the the "robot race(s)" (the Yor) do not need "charging stations" as they were designed to run of of organic power sources (food- although, if they eat food, would they eat thier enemies for power?). But oh-well, I guess you can just imagine them as solar farms for power if you really want to.

if you read some of the back story stuff in the databanks it says. Basically, there was some cataclysm at the end of thier war where most of the Arnor and DLs vanished. The remaining ones in our universe didn't have the infrastucture to maintain thier technology, and thier civilization collapsed.

Did they get the precurser discovery bonus? That would boost thier stats by 1% every turn, and if you let them go long enough, they could proberbly be producing ships like that. I suggest you either make an alliance, or buy thier ships from them.

Well, by not getting hte box, you wont get a actual copy of the manual (you will get an electronic version though). Also, if you bought the CE edition, you get a fold out tech tree thing (I got the box version, I don't know if they send one if you just got the download).
