reproduceable minidump: As Vasari; when entering into the capital ship ability selection screen for the Marauder (*only* - it was fine in all others), you can normally mouse over each ability. However, mousing over "Distort Gravity" causes the game to crash. Of potential use, no orange ring to indicate its range appears before the crash. I tested this at different graphics settings, and different maps. Everything else gets a thumbs-up
Random maps sometimes not providing a one-jump asteroid to every player is a long standing bug, but they've never fixed that either. Just because something doesn't get an immediate hotfix doesn't mean it's not a bug. As an Advent in SP, I sometimes place a starbase on a dead asteroid with the trade port. That gives me "eyes" that fire at enemies without needing to spend anything on planetary upgrades and also strings along my longest trade route.

The beam gets deflected/negated/whatever the hell it is shields do, end of story. Yet it still deals the 'mystery damage' no matter what. I *think* you're running into something that I believe was implemented to avoid AI traffic jams. Sometimes it takes quite awhile to line up ships for a grouped jump and the AI isn't always smart enough to make room for all the ships in an ideal pattern. In those circumstances, you'll often find one or two ships jumping a little early (not minutes ahead, but maybe five seconds or so). You may also find a straggler or two coming in late. You'll almost never see ever

Gah! Sorry about that. I remembered incorrectly where the guide was. If you download and unzip the Forge Tools, you will have a subfolder called Documentation. In there, open up a file called "SINS_Modeset.pdf" that will have the steps for the basic mod I was referring to. Please keep in mind that before you open up one of the files to modify it, do the following: Save a copy of the original folders elsewhere and use that to mod w

Yes, you can increase shields, hull points, and adjust damage among other things. I would suggest downloading the full mod tools, and following a few of the examples in the forum (there's one that guides you in changing hull points, and doing the same thing but instead selecting shields will get you precisely what you want). Here's the link to the tutorial thread (download it from there): https://forums.sinsofas
We are looking for a public release this weekend, probably on a site like file front. more details to come. Everyone that is in the beta can continue updating as they normally do. This release will just be a full download for those that don't connect via SVN
Any updates? I'd love to give this one a shot. :)

Repeatable, recreatable bug: A minidump immediately occurs if the Halcyon casts Anima Tempest while Gunships are among its squadrons. This is consistently recreatable, and I've checked with different numbers of gunship squadrons. Anima Tempest works fine with all other squadron types. I also posted this on your bug tracker, but wanted to do so here in case that wasn't currently in use (speaking of which, I get errors on there when using apostrophes - kinda weird).<

Interesting approach. I'm always a little wary of services running in the background - I've had too many bad experiences with antivirus programs in relation to these. It's not that I don't trust everyone at Stardock to make this a good program that works well in a Windows environment, but I don't trust the plethora of 3rd party developers to account for it. Well, I've got it installed but I haven't seen any bubbles yet - I'll be patient.

1) Download and install Impulse on your friend's computer 2) sign in with your email & profile password (the email you used for registration) 3) install and/or update the game 4) PROFIT!!!

As an aside, Impulse works as a game updater, community portal, and digital storefront - not a game client like Steam. Once Sins of a Solar Empire has been updated, you'll never need to open up Impulse again unless you want to. Welcome to a wonderful game, by the way!

I fully admit to being influenced by a couple of other sources - How about these for new strke craft?: Advent - blobs of psychic energy that would slam into opponents, bypassing shields and doing significant damage to enemy hulls. Drawbacks: one-shot items with longer rebuild times. TEC - boarding vessels that would be able to latch onto an enemy ship, and once there board and do significant damage over time. When the time is up, they could d
Star Dragon, you have a good point. However, I still think that the game could use an online multiplayer tutorial or some sort of a means to encourage people to come online. Perhaps the game could interact with ICO in some sort of a way and occassionally (but not obnoxiously, say once every 4 days or once a week) display messages like, "5v5 game with new players needs 2 more players, click "Join Featured Online

DS - Not to put too fine a point on it, but wouldn't both companies be better served by increasing marketing among traditional multi-player venues than trying to "convert" single-player customers into multi-player customers? As you said, it doesn't make any economic sense to do it the other way around: no matter how much success they might find, that wouldn't result in any extra sales (although it would at least give you multi-player types some more opponents to face).&n
