You can see this line at all zoom level for the selected ship. ...Except that the line for Terran ships (dark blue color) is impossible to see at higher zoom levels. If you have a dark "race" color, watch out for that.

Did you launch it from a planet, or did you upgrade another ship into a transport? It sounds like you upgraded - the game starts an upgraded transport with a population of 1. If you upgrade, you first have to move it to one of your planets to pick up troops. When you launch it again, you will get a dialog asking how many people you want to put aboard. Be careful if the population is low, because you don't want to remove your entire colony! After you launch from your own pla
Even if we receive a signal, and decode it, and reply, who's to say that race will get the reply? They might be long dead, living somewhere else, using different forms of communication etc. I'm sure they will have a Galactic Phone Number Portability feature set up. Or at the very least they'll leave a forwarding message. "We're sorry, but the D
If there is intelligent life out there, and they can interpret all of the radio and tv signals we've spewed out into space, I doubt it would want to have anything to do with us. We're probably like the Somalia of the galaxy. Good aliens wouldn't want to visit because they don't want to be shot at, or mugged and held for ransom. Neutral aliens wouldn't come because we probably don't have any resources that would be worth the trouble. Evil aliens... wait, that's it! It's just
Ah, but if you built the Accelerators and the Korx later take the planet it was built on, you will lose the bonus. It's actually better to let someone else spend their time, money, and planetary tile on building it, then trade something like Stinger III for the trade good and some cash. The only time I build one of these things any more is if I really don't want anyone else to have it or I'm impatient and don't want to wait for the AI races to get around to building it. I w
It would be nice if the UP could play the enforcer role on your peace treaties; whether you're still a member or not. Then, when you break a treaty, the UP would enact sanctions that restrict your trade income and your tech trading with member races. Until you end the war, you could only trade techs with the evil races on the black market, at inflated prices. I don't know if this is the best solution, but the game needs more mechanics like this. Part of the philosophy behind th
For example, my custom race is "Hole". Please tell me that you're not conquering the galaxy with Courtney Love as your leader! OT, though, I had noticed this, too, and thought I was going crazy. Thanks for setting it straight.
I don't know, but it may be even more sad that, because of the way that second sentence of the quote is worded, I got really excited because it looked like they were making a GCII expansion called The Political Machine where that aspect of the game would finally get the attention it deserves. Then I realized that TPM is a different game altogether, which made me sad.
Their need for a biological energy source also conveniently explains why their starships need life support. Of course, as we know, any process that involves the breakdown of organic material will result in the buildup of gasses, such as methane. So the Yor are farting robots. Are they programmed to say 'Excuse me'? Do they laugh? "Ha ha ha, TPS-99845-3 just emitted 75 cc's, ha ha ha." Okay, it's childish, but I only got three hours of sleep last night.
what happened to the minor race that was supposed to be the democratic party that went into space For them to accomplish anything, they would need racial abilities like Leadership and Initiative . If it were today's Dems out there, by 2225 they might have just gotten around to voting on what brand of TP to buy for their colony tran
AI factions tend to honor their alliances more with each other than they do with you. I've found that if I declare war on one faction, its ally/allies tend to back them up. If, on the other hand, an AI faction declared war on me, any allies I may have will always sit it out and wait until I'm about to win the war before chipping in. And trying to grab enemy planets after I've spilled my own blood taking out the defending starships...
Also, if you're using Firefox, try switching to IE. I know they've been trying to work out some compatibility issues, but I never had any success using Firefox for Metaverse tasks. I haven't tried that (using FF in the MV site) in over a month, though.
You do know that immigrants come from other places besides Mexico, don't you? IMO, though immigrants (legal and otherwise) put a burden on our educational and health care systems, without people willing to do the work that native-born people aren't, the U.S. would be about dead in the water. I've spent time in Arizona and I know what I'm talking about. That said, delta leader , in your mo
No, not Napoleon; DeGaulle. That way they could surrender and still say that they were keeping up the fight. Tous les etoiles sont Francais! Kona would come to Earth every season... to hunt poodles!
You could probably mod it in easily. I think it should only work for Evil factions. Instead of a building icon, use a picture of Charlton Heston running around with a speech balloon saying "It's people!"
I really can't recommend any other 4xs, really. I played the Total War series for a long time, then gave up in disgust as the suck factor was introduced with Rome and started to increase exponentially with its expansion. I've tried a few others, but nothing so far has held my attention like GCII. I started as a board gamer (OGRE, Third Reich, War and Peace, World in Flames, Swords and Sorcery, etc.), with only human opponents available, and I think that soured me on most of what's out there in t
Today I needed a break from my gigantic map MV game, so I decided to finally check out the campaign, having never even clicked the button before. I'm sure most people have at least looked at it, so I won't belabor you with long descriptions, but imnsho, it's a pretty cool feature. With the smaller map sizes, each mission is basically a single-sitting game, even for someone who only gets to play after the kids are in bed for the night. The storyline is engaging enough and the different
1. Plug it in 2. Put these ingredients into the pitcher: 3 oz. (90 ml.) tequila 1-1/2 oz. (45 ml.) Triple Sec 1 can (6 oz./177ml.) frozen limeade concentrate 3 cups ice cubes 1 to 3 oz. Grand Marnier (best part) 3. Blend until smooth, with just a hint of ice chunks for texture 4. Enjoy
Not Finnish, but I often give my custom race the Courage ability and think of it as Sisu. If your empire doesn't have a slogan yet, I remember seeing a Finnish propaganda poster from the Winter War of 1939-40. It read, "Our country is so small, and there are so many of them. Where will we bury them all?" I would join, but as the game says, I have my own crappy little empire to run. How do you say "good luck" in Finnish?
What's this about pointed sticks, Ohalland ? Fresh fruit not good enough for you, eh? We are here today to learn how to defend ourselves against a Torian armed with... a banana!
I don't much care for the idea of Terror Stars. If they do end up in the game, I think they should be restricted to Evil factions. Then let only Good civilizations research some variation of The Force and produce Heroes that can go around and wipe them out with one shot. Neutral factions could just suck it up, or they could ally with a Good faction, and the alliance mechanics could be changed so that your allies actually give you some help when you're fighting a faction that is the allies' align
The constructor's displayed radius is 6 parsecs; the finished starbase will be 8 parsecs. Was there a provision in the original game where a starbase started with a 6 radius that later expanded to 8? I thought that might have been originally the case, though it no longer is.
Sprinkle Torians with salt and pepper; dip each in batter, and dredge in flour. Fry until golden brown in deep oil heated to 375 degrees F. Drain on paper towels. Yield: about 16 servings. ...Oh, you mean on the strategic map. The first thing you need is a solid strategy for the colonization phase. There are lots of suggestions sprinkled throughout the forum; mine involves putting lots of ability points into Morale and Economics to pump up production and cash flow throughout the game.
I think getting rid of the forums is pretty extreme; they have their problems, but nothing that can't be solved if Stardock makes it a priority. It seems to me that if a relatively small amount of time and money were budgeted to clearing up lingering issues in the forums and in the Metaverse programming, both the number of complaints and the amount of whining (at least I see those as separate categories) would decrease rapidly. I know it's hard for a company that is trying to turn a p
Unfortunately, like the player position ranking, this is something Stardock no longer seem willing to mess with. I love GCII, and I have a great deal of respect for Stardock and its programmers. There are two aspects of the combined GCII/Stardock user experience, though, that many people (including me) find frustrating: the Metaverse and the fo
