Uninstalled, deleted directory, purged the lot, re-installed via SDC, button still greyed out. Going back to "Pick Your Civilisation Screen" as described earlier in the thread still works for me if I select the Custom Icon, and I can still attach the required Custom attributes. Then on the last screen the Custom Icon is in the opponents list and I can select and use. "Create Custom Opponent button" on last screen still greyed out when doing the 'workaround'. Regards Zy
This is what I did. Just create a race as if you were going to play as the race. Then back up and choose another race to play as. Now when you get to the screen to select your opponents, just click the custom race you created on the right side and then click edit on the left under the race images.
Had the same issue, exactly the same symptoms - greyed out box. Tried the fix above - worked for me as well. On initial install, I had deinstalled via SDC, then rememb
That or a karma war will break out!
I think we have a fighting chance of that not happening the behavious in general is at a far more mature level than many online forums, although I hear the thought ..... its happened on most forums with a "Karma" system. I'm in the South of UK, with a theoretical link speed of 6Mb, and I got 765Kb/s on the upgrade via SDC. 24Mb links are starting to be a reality in UK, and it will not be long before they become relatively common - albeit not everywhere for a good while yet. The high speed pipe is definitely worth it from this end. The ever increasing bandwidth being made available to end users will raise the Bar on expectation in a similar way to the original dialup/512Kb/s switchover. Its an excell

I would also go along with Economy. I am not saying its "broken", it works, but its the number one negative factor in the battle to pursuade new players to come on board with the game. It is very hard for new players to wrap their heads round the subtle parts of how the economy works. That can result in a big turn off at an early stage before the major positive factors of other parts of the game, have had chance to sink home to counter balance the negative effect of the economy in their
Any Business tends to go down the route preferred by the dominant people in that business and the personal experteese they have - that, in the main, is because they have no other experience on which to fall back on, not unaturally, we are all human beings. The "Sea Change" in the Games industry is a slow realisation by those who dominated it because of their technical skills, that they are in a dead end street in terms of thinking. Technology for its own sake is not what is needed, its the [I][
You keep trying to compare apples and oranges. Or rather, the law and morals. If I walk out of a store with a game I didn't pay for, that's larceny. Its not a deliberate misinterpretation. Its a difference in perception and values. I view software as an entity that people made, put the heart and soul into sometimes. I believe no one has the right to take that effort for their own personal gain, without the individual who made it giving permission. Whatever the rational, whatever the reasons, the end result is theft, any other fluffy mitigation will never get round that fact from where I am sitting. I suspect we will always disagr
Anyway, where is everyone, I expected my posts to get a lot more responses they were well put together and took a lot of time to make.
They were well made, and obviously came from inside, not a cut and paste from the latest article in "Great Gamer" ..... or whatever. A pleasant change to read original viewpoints - whether or not I agree. Dont stop though! Most people just buy and use a game because they simply enjoy it, I certainly do, few will dig deep

"PC Gaming is dead" I'm real bored about hearing that nonsense. There is no way on this Earth, is a Market Space of way over 500million PCs ever going to be a "dead" gaming industry. Will it change and evolve, thats for sure, and so it should. It'll have highs and lows, as with all business cycles. The lows usually caused by "bandwagons" as the short term revenue chasers run around like lemmings following the latest "trend". The long term winners in any Market Space are the committed
Whenever anyone is, or gets near to being "Number 1", there is a big fat luminous bullseye painted on their Butt - and Professional Moaners cant resist kicking it. Traditionally On Line Forums in general are usually too negative in tone because those who are happy, rightly, cant be bothered continually saying so. Those who are not happy will always post, and so they should, as without User "pressure" the Will to improve and move onwards and upwards diminishes. It is remarkable theref
PC gaming dead ? Never happen for the simple reason that where there is a user base of 500million+ there will always be someone or something that will innovate to tap into it. The nature of the market segment may change, the economics and dynamics will change, for sure, but never write off an empty market segment of 500million, not going to happen. The driver for the mainstream part of the gaming industry is always how to get the best return on investment made. Use the latest graphi

Working as a Team works better every time, not as separate parochial entities. Proven time after time, work as a Team and use hands off leadership to encourage innovation. Wherever that model is used, and grubby individual bonus chasers are kept at arms length, the result is always far better than the efforts of single individuals grubbing about for a bonus - Team always earns more. Money men never learn the lesson - find a leader, inspire innovation and you are on a guaranteed winner

Stardock have delivered again what they said they would deliver. They asked the fan base what we preferred - and it was overwhelmingly take the extra time to deliver a more in depth product, which they have. Cant ask for better than that, I wish other gaming houses got on with the job in the same way, we would all be better off. With Sins and TA out there - 2008 is going to be a big year for Stardock & Ironclad, of that there is no doubt, and well deserved. I look forward to th
