Yeah, I know I'm gonna laugh every time I erect one of them on a planet.

*snert* Okay, there is no way to say this without sounding immature...What's with the charging stalks? I had to do a double-take on those. I mean, we're all excited about the game and all, but...
This used to be an issue for me as well until I came up with the brilliant idea of disabling the GNN.
Oooooooh, I see: Another case of "fix the bug by not using the feature."
I haven't received an email yet for the Beta, though there was a key when I first placed the order. After some monkeying around with my account (I changed email addresses at some point and SDC doesn't like that. Stardock hasn't been able to find a fix for me yet) I got that key to download the software. It seems to have installed, and I can get to the start screen...but then I got sidetracked and haven't given it a go yet. I still haven't figured out if I like Betas or not yet.
I agree that the situation is mildly vexing, but there are many other things I'd rather see given dev time, e.g. the delightful news that the DA-born espionage system is getting a serious overhaul.
See, that is 100% the reason that I haven't brought it up before now. I see the flame-wars on here about this thing or that thing that never bothered me at all, and this seemed tiny by comparison. But it's my problem, and that makes it important to me[
Normally, I never post these because, well, I've never hit a show-stopper bug. However, this is one that has been around as long as GalCiv two, and I don't even know if anyone else gets it. (Probably should wait until after TA comes out, but since this hasn't been fixed by now, probably still isn't.) This is a bug that happens when your influence causes a planet to flip to your civ. These log at the beginning of your turn when you have the menu up, showing everything that was bu
Crispy crickets and crackerjacks! Come on , guys! I was just able to tear myself away from DA, and I got the Beta for SoaSE, then the new Civ IV expansion came out, now Bioshock. Just when I think I'm going to get a breather, you through this out there right in the gap before Gears of War is supposed to come out. This isn't fair! I have to work you know, people!
Boy, I am sooo dumb! If I had been mailed a survey by a favored game company for whom I am willing to download betas and provide game feedback and suggestions over and over for a total of many hours of web time, I think I would have just filled it out. But now I know I could hold out for a COUPON! Darn. Thank you. My snark blaster was tuned a bit too high, and I didn't know how to respond to that poster in a civilized manner.
I think most people here expected that people would use it to buy one of the other games on TotalGaming.net such as Sins of a Solar Empire beta, Dark Avatar, Space Rangers 2, etc. Already own them all. Oops. Thanks for the confirmation Kryo, I appreciate it. I guess I'll just have to hope that Stardock does a second survey later on so I can pick up Sins for $5 off when I dont have most of my entertainment budget
An option to increase/decrease to speed it takes to research techs would make everyone happy:) "Everybody" is a pretty bold statement.
You get the bounty by destroying the ships/structures of the faction with the bounty on them. If so, why do you not get the whole pot when you wipe them totally out? You'd think that would be worth the bounty.
Which only works currently, because the AI is so weak that it is no problem to wipe it out. If the AI would be better, that tweak wouldn't change a thing. Funny thing is, this has already caused me to develop a strategy: Two fleets, Fleet of Death and a fleet of colony ships. Move into a system, whoop the crap out of a planet, leave a colony ship behind and move on. When the system is cleared, select the whole colony group, switch to auto and bo
We will be able to name our capital ships in the future
Not sure if this has come up or not, but it's a thought that I had while playing last night. I love the fact that the cap ships gain experience and unlock new abilities. It's a great idea that a ship and crew that have been to hell and back become pretty bad-ass. However, what I thought about was all the other ships. I had a fleet that included as few frigates and cruisers that lasted through most of the game, undefeated. It would be great if they could get some sort of "veteran"
Namely the techs that increases Crystal and Metal mining. For starters they are placed too high up in the tech stages, and secondly they are far too costly on crystals to warrent researching them. Not to threadjack, but this leads to something that I have been experiencing, and that's costs in general. The early game leaves me really hurting for crystal and buying a lot of it on the black market. However, once I burn through the tech tree - which we'v
That made me realize I wanted to ask why transiting ships can't counter attach while still moving to next jump point? Could get into a defensive formation and reduce hits while fighting back. If player doesn't react, then continues on, but at least is not a sitting target. For AI same thing, but not sure what would be the trigger to stop moving and destroy the threat first, then resume. That's basically what I was getting at.
lol tone of voice doesnt work in forums I'm still waiting for someone to come up with HTML for sarcasm, so that we can actually put tags on things...
Yeah, the first time I played the tech tree was very confusing to me also, it seemed all jumbled together This. Tech tree is not very well presented. (But you can follow it when you know where everything is.)
Not only that, but the AI never took the planet, just razed it. Because of that I would have ample time to return from another solar system and wipe them out before they got to kill the planet. Haven't had that happen to one of my worlds, but I have had an AI ally enter a system I was attacking several times....never with a colony ship to take the planet. Also, I've noticed that if a fleet is just passing through a system, damnit, they're goi
As we've stated many times, no motherships in Sins. So....This is the answer to carriers in GC2?
An option for the game to only keep a certain number of autosaves would also be nice. I just finished playing my first games today and came back to nearly 3GB of saves (I know you said you haven't bothered with compressing the saves yet, but even taking that into account, I certainly don't need my past 50 saves lying around. 2-5 are plenty, imo. ) Wow...I hadn't even looked at that part yet. I looked only far enough to see how many autosaves there are.
Just look at the number of people in this thread who've come into it thinking that it was a bug! "This can't be right!" Please, do not do something so counterintuitive or the game will be injured significantly. I consider this a blocking issue. I think that this puts a very good point on the matter. No matter how cool the idea is, and no matter how much you've thought through and rationalized the this idea, it kind of falls apart if many of the people w
4. When a race has been eliminated, it's influence should disappear, maybe not instantly, but it shouldn't stay there. Some of your points (2 and 4) have already been addressed in the latest hotfix The influence does disappear...but man is it slow. I've got a game going where one arm of the galaxy is cleared of any hostiles but me, yet I still can't take over the planets because of the slowly falling in
Also now crystal is really rare and almost have to be bought at the black market. I have been finding this myself. Actually, I do buy a good deal of it on the black market.
lol, never did use that one . . . or figure out where it was Let's just say it's less obvious than the button I missed.
