Late to the party, as usual, but here are my two credits on subscriptions; Hell. No. Someone above put it well that we'd have a problem with some people having this version of the game, and other people having that version of the game, etc...but also, it's like Magic: The Gathering was for me when I was a teenager. I had fun with the game when it first came out, but quickly lost interest in it when I didn't have the money to buy new cards every week. I hate
Also what happens if (God forbid ) StarDock closes ? retail hardcopy (or you burned to CD/DVD) software will continue to install , software I bought here will not work without activation on new computer, for example after reinstalling windows.
I can't remember the specifics of how you do it, but I believe that there is a way to burn a back-up CD through SDC. SD personnel: Confrim/Deny?
Clicking 'accept' on an EULA is legally arguable that you have read a
Is there an alternate DL link? I DL'd the above, and it won't run after installation. I get a "Stardock Impulse has encountered an error and must close..." error
Well, the preoder phase has already started: http://www.demigodthegame.com/preorder/
Does that mean that it's only available with real money, and not tokens through totalgaming.net?
But, the important question is....when can we pre-order, and when can we get our hands on the Beta?
I'm pretty excited about this. Sounds great, guys. Where I've stood on GPG is that they have plenty of gusto, but have never seemed to have quite enough focus to achieve all that they can...Now, partnered with SD, I think they might get that focus. I was excited for Demigod before, but now I'm very excited. *thumbs up*
Okay, I haven't actually gotten time to play the newest beta yet (Shame, I know...but work happens...) so I didn't think that I'd have anything to offer to this thread....however, I'm right there with others on the Thalans, as it appears they haven't changed. Without serious luck, they are pretty much impossible to play - which is a shame, because I find them very interesting.
I don't have the time this afternoon to read through all the replies (sorry) but I wanted to jump in here and post that I am very impressed with this article. Very insightful and well thought out. I work in a different segment of the software world, and i have shot this link around the office to have some of our sales/marketing people give it a read. Very impressive stuff.
Trade in this game is really wierd
Oh, thank God. I thought that I was massively missing something. I have not found trade to be worth it in any of may games, and don't think that I've built more than two freighters since GalCiv2 DA. (One for each expansion pack to see if anything changed.)
I'm a Korath fan. More and more I am using them of late. I always favor bad guys in games but what do I know?
I've recently come to think the same thing. I noticed on a poll recently that almost no one used them, so I gave them a try. Whooped the crap out of everyone in no time flat. More people should give them a try.
Okay, dumb question, but related: Is there a metaverse wiki, or how to, or something? I can see what the pieces of bling stand for when I hover over them, but that's about it. Having never done a MV game, I know nothing about how you get them.
That's it, I quit! ;)
Taking it one step further,
I'd like a repeat queue option, but the one step further might be one step too far. Often times, I will send ships in to battle to free up some unit cap. Also, if they just got their butts handed to them, I'm probably going to want to try a different mix of ships the next time.
Stealing Black Hole cannons is a bit lame
I call that "wOOt!" :CONGRAT:
So I tossed it around the office and no one had a problem with putting it in. So we implemented it. Now that it's in the latest beta, did you guys notice it was there?
When was the most recent release? SDC hasn't let me know of any updates this week to the Beta.
I agree that the invisible ship bug is still very much alive and well within the game. That and the "wire form" asteroids after terror-starring a system. A quick reload of the game makes this go away, so it hasn't been a show-stopper for me (since it's a Beta.) Can't speak to your problems with the Arceans, though. Never once, in all the iterations of GalCiv, have I played that race. Playing the Korath for the first time right now, and I am really liking them. Th
Actually just started a game on 4C, against 9 Gifted to Genius level opponents (Painful with randomised intelligence) and a random number of minors. Early on I received a report that I was most powerful, followed by... the Snathi and the Carinoids. Don't know if this is a sign of improved AI or I was just lucky to see the minors remembering to build warships, but a few turns after this report I heard that the Carinoids declare war on the Korx, which I think is the first time I've seen a m
Need to improve my gaming skills a little more ..
And there-in lies my problem. I can't spend the amount of time needed to become a hard-core online player. So, if I venture in to an online game, I invariably get it handed to me by someone who plays all the time. Or by someone with 14 y/o reflexes in an on-line shooter, or someone who plays all day, every day and has a level 40,000 character in WoW. Just not fun to me, and not worth my effort.
GC3
Society is a separate, long-term project. It's currently on hold for a couple of years until we have the appropriate personnel and infrastructure in place for an MMOG.
Well, make sure that - you know, when you have a title and such - you get a website up for this new game as soon as possible. This way we can get down to the important business of wildly speculating and preemptively yelling about stuff in the forums before realizing that it's going to be the next awe
Vocal as my frustration with Sins has been
Huh...never saw those posts. I'm enjoying Sins quite a bit (a lot, really), but I'm not farting rainbows like most people over on those boards. I was beginning to think I was missing something...
Okay, I need to once again voice my disdain at this rule. I hate that i get penalized for having a really strong economy. Oh well, nothings perfect.
Did Society get canned? I thought that was the next project. Not that I mind, since I'm definitely pre-ordering the fantasy game.
I was worried that this 4x project had turned in to Societies...Wasn't too excited about that, as I don't do the MMO thing. Really excited to hear more about this new fantasy game. I'll pre-order like I do everything else...
There are a couple of things I'd really like to be changed about the United Planets: 1. The week (or more) before the voting, it would be announced what is going to be voted on. 2. All races that have made contact with another race are part of the UP, not just the ones the player has met. 3. The UP meets a bit more often, something like twice or four times a year... maybe. Of course, seeing something akin to Alpha Centauri's Diplomacy features would be
Now that is something you don't see on the interwebs very often!
Against opponents with a weak soldiering score, using Information Warfare can be VERY effective, sure it's a tad on the expensive side with 800bc,...Though if -42bc killed your economy, you probably didn't have the 800bc for the invasion tactic anyhow...
And this is why evil is awesome. No Mercy Invasion Center, and your invasion tactics worries go away...
Just don't sit by idly for too long; last time I got that event, the Jagged Knife wouldn't do anything for about a year and then started to build their own ships and eventually behave like another race.
Okay, the event annoys the hell out of me, but not in a bad way. It's a mega event. Some are good, some are bad. It's the risk you take when you play with them engaged. (And no, I'm not one of those people that always played DL on Insane and needed the challenge.)
