yay! so let me get this straight, stardock has a part in the development as well or are you just publishing strictly?
I know it's a month after you asked the question but....have you ever know SD to just publish something without getting their hands in it as well? Come on - that's where the awesome comes from.
Trust has its limits.
True...but that's not gonna stop me. I was interested in this game a few months ago when the previews first started, and now that I know it's a Stardock project, I'm freakin' sold. As soon as I get back from my in-laws this weekend, and I get my car fixed up and inspected, it's of to TGN for some tokens and some pre-orderin'
What about Twilight of Arnor? I'd love to see Masters of Orion style where you know how much of each population is still on a planet. We even got to manufacture androids towards the end.
I never played MOO...After several years on these boards, I'm kinda glad: It seems to have brainwashed everyone that has played it to the point where they will not full accept GalCiv until it becomes MOO.
yes, Zyxpsilon would be correct in this assessment. Unorthodox indeed, but this would be an exception to the rule as it were.
Unorthodox? Man, I thought that this was what those tiles were intended for and would be in the opening chapters of "How to Invade Opponents and Influence Planets." Essentially something like, "Fertile planets with frisky inhabitants and empires at war serve in symbiosis - The citizens are kept happy by supplying a steady stream
The first perfect review for TA. The first of many, hopefully...
So good, in fact, that they rated its multiplayer "fair", even though it doesn't have multiplayer. I guess Brad doesn't need to mow lawns anymore...
This has been debated long and hard many times.
Yep...In life, there is death and taxes - in GalCiv there is multiplayer and carriers. Debated long, debated hard, decided long ago. The majority of us are just as h

As a follow-up to Brad's original post, I actually installed My Colors + Sins of a Solar Empire Theme last night. Wow, I am impressed. It looks great. It's unfortunate that I really don't see the desktop of my gaming machine very often, and the other four machines I use on a regular basis are Linux, or I'd buy the full version in a heartbeat.
Actually, 'Star Terrors' would be a clue. 'Terror Star' is more suggestive of the size of the construction than the intended target.
You and your logic be quiet. But truthfully, as cool as it is to watch an entire system go Ka-BLOOIE, I really don't use them. Too much effort to build them, and then to fragile when they are done.

Wow...can anyone else tell that a release is two days out? There's a reason most of us at my place of employment avoid the forums in the week before a release ;p
The Redone UP would be a $9.95 type thing and the redone events/political system would be a second $9.95.
I'd be interested in this with one caveat: That every couple of module releases, there is some kind of bulk pack of all of them. (At a discount, would be nice, but you can't have everything. :)
I wouldn't be to proud of that, I've seen people's dogs get "Pre-Approved" credit cards in the mail before
Santos L. Halper?
I think some people seriously need to re-think their priorities if they are upset about pushing the launch back a week.
As I mentioned before and else-where on here - I have to keep reminding myself that it's not out, given how playable the Beta is. So take your time. We'll still be here.
OR making the maps 3D (drools over a 5x5x5 map)
That would be pretty cool.

My god, people actually get this upset in these forums? Puh-leez. I guess i'd see more of this if I stuck around for more than just the Beta stuff.
I honestly don't get why people are upset about this...
As others have said, yeah, it's not like we haven't been playing it for the past year as it is. By this point, you should know that A.) Stardock does lengthy Betas and pushes back months on every release for quality. B.) This is the second major expansion for GalCiv - if you don't know by now that you're going to buy it or not, based on past performance, there's something wrong with you. <b

Never had any installation issues in regards to that. It's XP, and although it's not the named admin account, it is the primary account that has full privileges. When I installed on the laptop, it took several minutes to unpack and install the ap. On the game machine - which, admittedly, has a lot more horsepower - the progress bar almost instantly shoots to 100% and then the error message pops up.

And update on my situation: Someone from Stardock sent me a utility to run to test my proxy settings, but I think that might have been a misunderstanding. My problem isn't with my connection - I can't get Impulse to install, period. (Same with the proxy utility as well.) On a whim, I tried to install Impulse on my laptop, which worked with no problems at all...same network, so it's not the proxy settings. It's obviously something with my gaming rig. Any ideas what to check? I'd
That's a pretty common attitude, which I've never understood. Why do you feel that way?
I know that a lot of people feel that way because mods are (generally): 1.) something that most people offer for free in the community spirit. 2.) designed by a third party, and often without the same quality control as the base product 3.) offered as a "money grab" only. This is not to say that any of those things are accurate, but it is a common feeling

I hadn't gotten a chance to play the Beta in a while (work, the real world, wife and house....they get in the way ;) ) and then i saw one of the recent previews talking about the updated Krynn. Now, bear in mind, I used to play the Krynn in the past when I just didn't want to deal with spys. You know, get the anti-spy building built on every planet at the beginng and just not worry about it. Since then, I had drifted away to other races like the Korath. After readi

(If this posts twice, I apologize, but the last one didn't seem to go through.)
Any availability here would depend on Yarlen working out a deal for them.
Well...then...kick everyone involved in the butt and get them in gear! ;) (I actually asked about this expansion over on Totalgaming a few months ago and got a fairly cryptic response that made me guess the above.)
I'm working on a test app that has different methods of connecting via a proxy to try and solve this problem. But one quick question I have is does your proxy require authentication with a username and password?
Now, I don't need to enter a username and password every time to log on, but one was required as part of my DSL set-up. Is that what you mean? Also, could this explain why Impulse fails without even opening?
