I gotta say...StarDock really manages to ruin other games. [e digicons][/e] I own pretty much every game Sid Meier has slapped his name on, and for the longest time was the benchmakr by which I judged 4x games. Were it not for GalCiv, this would still be true, and I woulda said that Civilization IV: Colonization was great. As is, I am only seeing the flaws right now. 2K Games' site has a dead link to the game, Firaxi
eh?.. soase just has a few icons and few colors.
Seriously? There are 42 different symbols and 10 colors to choose from for each. If nothing else, I'd think that would be a good number of banners or what not to choose from in Demigod.
Check it out: Adding cloth-banners (they don't have to have correct physics no ) to the stronghold, the shoulders of the rook and the mantle of the other characters would be a nice touch.
Even if it was something as simple as SoaSE's logo selction screen. I haven't gotten an exact count, but there are easily 750,000,000,000 to chose from in that game.
Try zooming out then zooming back in to where you want to look (cursor over position, mouse wheel up). It's really very convenient when you get the hang of it.
You can do that in a lot of games, and most of them don't eliminate the ability to scroll. Some people, like yourself, eventually get used to it. Many others, like myself, get used to it, but never like it.
I'm not sure if the game will support surround--may just be stereo.
HA! Funny thing is, I was looking around for a sound thread so that i could say how pleased I am with it. My sound is through the onboard 5.1 Gigabyte hardware, and it sounds really good. Although I will admit that I haven't played enough (or paid enough attention) to notice if all the sounds were coming from the right direction or not, but they seemed to. Honestly, sound was o
Theres like 50 posts on these subjects already..
Well..I'm still gonna add to this one. [e digicons][/e] I can take or leave a mini map - but please, for the love of (Demi)God, let us move the view by mousing the edge of the screen.
I did, but the s&h was killer.
Right there with you. I love the printed manual....but I can't swallow $10-20 bucks on freakin' shipping. Hell, *I* can ship stuff cheaper than that, and I'm Joe-Nobody-Citizen. I admit, Amazon has spoiled us all with their free shipping - and if I wanted to wait until release (as well as not support Stardock directly) I'd order from them, but I don't. I'd rather go direct, get in on the Betas and
Wait, wait, wait, WAIT ! Back it up. Hold the phone. 2k is going to be distributing through Impulse? No, this is no good at all. Sid Meier seemed hell-bent on making me fail college...and SD has made headway in recent years on making me lose my job. Now they're joining forces ? This must be stopped. ...After one more turn, that is.
i recently quit smoking two packs a day
I miss my little white tube friends as well. Congrats on quitting.
SkinStudio is for creating skins for WindowBlinds(no easy task),not for changing anything! WindowBlinds is just one element of a theme. What's so confusing about that?
Well, considering the comment of mine that you quoted was from the point where I understood, I'd say, "nothing."
Well, that's unfortunate. I had been pretty interested in SkinStudio, but it looks like it's too limited. I guess I'll stick to SD's kick-ass games. Thanks for the help.
I asked about this over in the forums for WindowBlinds, and haven't gotten a concrete answer: Is there a way to design themes for MyColors (as in, complete overhauls) like there is in WindowBlinds (SkinStudio)?
Yes SkinStudio will allow you to do that, but you won't be able to load them with My Colors. You would need WindowBlinds.

skinstudio is used to piece together images to create a windowblinds skin. it is not used to create icons packages, cursors, wallpapers, or gadgets.
Hmmm...seems to be some conflicting info.
Hope that helps. Come on back if you have more questions. Or go to the Stardock Home page in read about the software/products.
Well, I had gone there first, but it wasn't clear. ;) Basically, what I'm trying to figure out is - Will SkinStudio allow me to create total themes that can be used in MyColors...or is it more limited than that?
In advance, please forgive me if I missed something obvious. I very much like the Sins of a Solar Empire theme in MyColors, and this morning I saw the SkinStudio for creating themes. It appears that SkinStudio works with WindowBlinds which, so far as i can tell, does the same thing as MyColors. What is the difference between these products?
They also said "Tentative".
They also said, "Beta." Release dates for software is always a very fluid thing. You can't think in terms of "promised dates" - there are only hopeful windows. Beta release dates are even worse. A finished release might get delayed because something unforseen came up that broke it - a beta is generally somewhat broken by definition. That means, there's even more likelihood that it's too "broken" to even get exposed to the
Loupdinour Enhanced Espionage ~nervous twitch~ I'm dying to know what this entails lol.
Me too...might actually USE espionage then. ;) I am very much stoked for this release. It looks like - as usual - you guys listened to the loud and varied screaming of some, the quiet criticism of others, and the helpful suggestions of the rest and acted upon them. Awesome.
What the heck was the issue?
That was never determined. They had to call in their special forces devs or something to solve it....whatever it was.
I'm back! They finally fixed my account.
Two weird ones that I'm noticing (Except for lots of crashes on my laptop, but it's a POS, so I'm not surprised.) - neither is a major crash.bug, so I don't know how to submit a report: 1.) Phantom ships. Some times when I destroy a fleet, one enemy ship will remain. It's there, I can click on it - but it never moves, and I can move my ships over it. 2.) This is the weird one, and I notice it more on the laptop with the older hardware: bottom right corner is a memory dead-zo
Crayno: And on a sidenote: does it run on a laptop (XP) reliably?
Totally depends on the laptop. Laptops vary from "Fancy graphing calculator" up through "Portable Cray computer." As a benchmark, my Dell Inspiron 1200 with a 1.3 GHz processor and a gig of RAM runs the game passably. (This particular laptop has the bare-minimum video card for the game.) It's fairly slow and choppy at the default zoom, so I mainly play zoomed out to the icon level.
the_spyder: Maybe I am talking out my but based on the comments here, I don't see this as a whole "Game Breaking" exploitable bug.
Pretty much. I tried a game doing this (None metaverse, don't worry) and, in order to effectively do this, I had to put my civ on hold and allowed everyone else to get really strong. It was a major uphill battle at the end. A.) It really seems like a fun little curiosity to me and others in this thread. B.) It actually ta
HunterADA: Sometimes it's worth it to give somebody a tech. Take banks for example... please! The same resources the AI invests in the 20% bonus of a xeno bank would give them 30% bonus from a pair of trade centers. In return you can either get some good will or some actually useful technologies.
Not to mention, when they have more banks, they have more money to spend on stuff you want to sell them.
DarkSkay: @ghostwes: I always play with tech trading disabled
Trading tech is way too much a part of my game to turn off. Props to anyone that has a strategy around that.
If something is a bug, it should be fixed, especially if it's exploitable like this one. Unfixed exploits screw up the metaverse and (in this case) the racial balance.
Well, for those of us that (until recently, in my case) never play metaverse games, that wasn't an issue. In other news: Lighten up.
