And if you think the blood thirsty Drengin are bad with their desire to enslave all the galaxy as "slavelings", there are worse things than the Drengin and we're not talking about the Dread Lords. Oh sh*t - its going to be the invasion of the Lawyers .

Its a tactic. You cannot put more than 4 starbases per sector. They put two near some of your good planets, you can't build anymore than 2 economic starbases to aid your economy.
One day, they are living next door and the next they say "The universe would be better without you?" and all. Were they, as a race, poorly toilet trained? Does their race have more bullies per capita than the other races? Is thier any French in their lineage? I'd rather pick up a Drengin hitchhiker than live next to one of those Arceans. They need to get with the program and learn to give peace a chance. Word.
That fixed it. Thanks!
Mine crashes when it tries to create the new universe. I posted the debug.err in the 1.2 beta thread.
Normal Game, Huge Map, after picking the opponents it goes to Loading, runs about 15 seconds, and crashes. Apparently this new feature is what is causing my system to crash: Replaced old planet "sphere.X" file (which cinsisted of an gluttinous 4500 polys!) with a new 1000 poly model (making gigantic maps much peppier) Debug Message: Version v1.2 Beta 1 last updated on: Fri May 26 19:38:18 2006 Debug Message: *********DXDiag info follows.********
This thread needs to be made sticky, and it needs to be moved to the bug forum.
Mine crashes after you choose the opponents and it starts loading the Universe. I posted the debug.err file contents in the official 1.2 bug thread.

Pay for patch? No one else in the industry does that. Some vertical products sell a "support" package that includes customer support and or patches (like Oracle, etc). But, you don't find this in the Game Industry. I'm an old timer. Been using DOS since 2.0. I used Wordstar, Lotus Symphony, dBase II, etc. I have observed the industry for a very long time. I think that magazine adverstising is much less effective than web advertising. I learned about GC2 from Gamespot. That "
Regarding Espionage enhancements that would tighly integrate with the current way the game is played: You use the current espionage to determine where a race has its unique resource (Aphrodisiac) or super project (Global Terraformer). Then, with the enhanced espionage, you create a spy, put him on a ship, try to infiltrate the planet. You either (1) Steal the unique resource or the superproject (2) fail (3) fail and get caught - resulting in a war Or, y

Will 1.11 savegames be compatible with 1.2 beta?
Please, please let the attacker have some advantage - they normally do, at least during the first exchange, at least.
Brad Wardell - you wouldn't be from planet Wardell, you know, the one that's a class 11, would you?
The attack advantage is a good idea. I miss it. The attacker, especially in a surprise situation, should always have the advantage.
Meaningful espionage - you can send a spy to a planet to stir up trouble. You can send a spy to a planet to get it to flip over to your side - you can send a spy to a fleet and get them to flip over to your side. Homeworld Cataclysm had an interesting feature - you had a chameleon ship that would appear to the enemy to be one of their ships. Useful for espionage. Invisibility fields. You can make your ships invisible for X number of turns (power drain is high for invis
A log of events that you can reference. You currently only get one chance to read the fact that the Drengins built the Restaurant of the Universe wonder, for example. It would be good to have a scrollable window where you could look back at the history of achievements.
When the technology becomes available I make two classes of ships - fast colony ships (2 or 3 engines) and fast troop transport ships. With the transport ships, I take a freighter hull and add 4 or 5 warp drives. It allows me to show up on an enemy's doorstep REAL quick after having eliminated their defenses. Don't add any weapons or armor, and these ships will be real cheap. Make sure to add 2 ultra or advance life support modules, and perhaps a se
It doesn't even get to the point to generate the error log. I am wondering if the XPCacheMan program may have something to do with it. I loaded it to ameliorate the memory issues with the earlier versions. I am going to see how things work without it and post the results.
After upgrading to 1.11, I periodically get the following error message: The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005) It does not generate a log file. The only way to get it to go away is to re-install the Intel Video Graphics driver. The system is a Dell Latitude, the video chipset is Intel 915GM/GMS, 910GML Express Chipset. I never had this issue with 1.0x or 1.1.
I've had the same thing happen in 1.11.
By the time the wonder appears, the entire universe has already been surveyed, so its pointless to build it.
