On a side note, how do you get another group to attack someone? Everytime I go to war, I want to ask other civs to join in. I go to the diplomacty screen, choose attack, but no one's ever in there, even if the two civs in question hate each other. Am I missing something? If absolutely no one is absolutely ever in there, then something's wrong. I don't think civs with whom the particular AI has good relations will show up, and possibly military rati

I think there was a 5000BC anomaly in DL, but it might only have been 2500. Isn't there a 2500 in DA?
Just because no one's mentioned it, I'll give my top 1: System Shock 2 Looking forward to Bioshock, but I don't expect I'll have the system to run it for many a moon!
si bellum volunt (vultis? you plural?) That looks right as it is. parati nos. Parati ad vincendum, ad vindicandum, ad mundum et lucem et veritatem defendendum, decertabimus. You could just say, "parati nos ad . . .", making it all one sentence. I'm not sure where the "decertabimus" is in the English version, though. viribus unitis bellum paramus <b
The Latin for DA is certainly better than for DL, but it does have numerous flaws. Oh well, the music's cool!
The DL song might as well be Esperanto as Latin, for how bad the Latin is! It's using Latin words in a way that makes for grammatical nonsense.
I rather like Wyndstar's ideas. However, the vast majority of what I see here scares me. Please don't change the game based upon a few requests! I'd rather, if there were time for this, that the devs go to the threads over the past few weeks and see what's being discussed more broadly. Again, I hate most of these ideas!
I think one priority with improving mining is to give an option of automation, such as whether you want it to build as many basics as it can, or to improve bases as much as it can. One improvement I'd like to see is having an "assign to closest planet" option. Right now I sometimes have to fiddle with them in order to find which one is going to benefit the most from them. If they're really distant it doesn
I usually control them manually until I can build miners with high speed (15+), then spam them out from every planet so that every single asteroid has it's own automated mining ship - no option but to upgrade in place then. When they're all fully upgraded, upgrade the miners to battleships or constructors en masse. I like that idea. I'll have to try it next time I have the resources for such a mega-project.
Solution: build more miners... If you mean the solution to the problem of miners on automate wanting to cross a map instead of upgrading what's close to them, then your solution will almost always not work. Instead, you'll have two or more miners doing the exact same thing. Trust me, I've tried it. I think one priority with improving mining is to give an option of automation, such as whether
In DA, my experience is that BOTH sides need alliance tech. That wasn't true in DL. Heck, in DA I was saintly good Altarians trying to ally with saintly good Iconians, we were at "close" for a few turns, and I finally realized that I needed to give them alliances. Right after I clicked "send," the alliance option popped up.
I think a lot of these comparisons are simply apples to oranges. Isn't it considerably more difficult to trade tech on higher difficulty settings? If so, this discussion is silly without stating what dif setting each person is playing on.
A number of possibilities. 1) You're playing on the new DA patch. Trading is significantly more difficult on high difficulties. 2) Your diplomacy isn't high enough. Research diplo techs. And definitely get Diplomatic Translators. 3) I've noticed that civs are less likely to give treaties earlier in the game. Maybe that's just my subjective experience and not the real case, but it might be. For instance, I can offer a minor civ everything I have and not get a si
I don't let the AI get close enough to any fleet that matters so that it can attack. I work to keep 1 point of speed ahead of the AI, so I can sit 4 parsecs away when that can only move 3. That way I can always attack and get first shot anyway. No, you aren't really getting the advantage you think you are. Super Warrior gives you a free round in the beginning of battle. Just getting the "first shot" is irrelevant if the defender is guaranteed
Yeah, submit a debug report. I've had none of these bugs. And I play on a very low-end system.
Someone posted in another thread that high-difficulty AIs should get a diplomacy bonus, not just a production bonus. I think that would be a good idea. You'd definitely see less Suicidal victories on the metaverse. Well, if you look at the altmeta, you can see that the top 3 of 4 characters show playing suicidal exclusively and winning via military conquest exclusively. Diplo victories just don't give the score to justify the time. Now, I'
TOS, stop spraying flames left and right. Minor race has a good point. When you play the Korath, you have to be very evil. They need to start exterminating planets quickly, or else they'll fall behind. But when you're playing the Altarians, you have to "play nicely" with the other races for awhile in order to get ahead. Myaticmind, I've found the Alterians and the Torians to be good allies if you're good. They tend to quickly want to ally with good races. Th
So you're not playing metaverse? Because political victories are very easy, and therefore not worth nearly as much. Heck, I can win a diplo victory with any race.
all i am/was trying to say is there needs to be a minimum number of turns between events and some kind of warning that you have a huge recession on your hands now i guess you GOOD players can chew me out for that too Daniel, I really hope nobody's trying to chew you out. If they are, shame on them. They're just worried that the game might change because the devs here are so good at listening
I like the Yor too. The mini bonus and extreme loyalty, with lots of other bonuses, excellent starting techs, and a nice super ability - and 10 pts to make them further powerful. *cackle* Why would we care about loyalty? Have you ever had a planet flipped? If so, shame on you.
Heh, if you want to be super aggressive, then the Korath are the way to go. Those spore ships and their military abilities allow you to start attacking long before the other races. Even with the Drengin and Yor you have to build up quite a bit to get an advantage. Korath don't need industrial, research, or econ advantage, and can be well behind in all three categories. Yet they can start taking planets by the bunches. As planets fall, civs fall. And as civs fall, resources open up
You seemed to have missed the "and steal a whole planet" part. It's one thing to spam your culture at someone, it's another thing for the citizens of a foreign country to decide they like it so much they secede from their own nation and join yours. The nation they secede from should NOT respond well to this, and apparently in future AI updates it will be regarded appropriately by the AI. Vinraith, sorry for the misunderstanding. I was just making a joke
When you destroy a pesky scout ship, the civ goes to war with you immediately. When you spam influence starbases around one of their planets and steal an entire planet, they don't even seem to mind much. That is absurd. There are countries who would go to war with other countries just for destroying some bothersome ship, plane, building, or even single citizen, but if a country just spams them with KFC's, Micky D's, and Hollywood tripe, they just s
hmm, this sounds ALOT like a bug from DL, haven't seen it in DA but I've had it in DL. I'm not sure if the bug had been squashed in DL or not however. I remember having it in the latest version of DL, and I certainly had it last night in DA.
Each tier of terraforming seems to get you 4-6 tiles on the PQ1s. Like I said, i wouldnt pick them up untill you have soil enhancement and habitat improvement (and theres no rush, since the AI ignores them), but once you do theyll pop immediately into a very decent world. The AI doesn't ignore them in my experience. Might depend on circumstances. I play all random, so this time I'm in a super barren medium galaxy. There are only habitable planets
