Has anyone had success being a pirate? I tried that out for a couple of years but didn't get very far. I had decent weapons, but my relations got so bad that it just didn't seem worth it.

6 hours and like 27 minutes from start to finish. Hats off to you, sir! I thought the dialogue would have taken that long!

Oh yeah. System Shock 2 was one of the scariest games ever, and I'm looking forward to what they put together for BioShock. Judging from the movie they released of it, they haven't lost any of their twisted talent. Yeah, and the way the enemies will react to you will supposedly be heavily based upon how you've been reacting to them. In oth

I never did truly understand when to use a colon vs. a semicolon. Easy solution: just don't use them. I can see you didn't, Mumble, so please don't take this the wrong way.

Like, one short game you can beat 6 hours after buying was Deus Ex, which I really enjoyed, except for the fact I paid $50 for 6 hours of gameplay. Proloton, you could beat Deus Ex in 6 hours? WTF? The loading times themselves will be over 6 hours! Or were you playing on a game console? I'm really looking forward to BioShock, by

I haven't got so late into the game yet as 8 years, but that's because I've started over a few times. I had tried to start with smaller hulls with more fire-power, but that didn't seem to be getting me very far. In my current game I started with a large hull with faster engine, and my finances look pretty good so far (10,000 in the 2nd year). I plan to wait awhile to switch the emphasis to weapons. I'll post later about how this strategy works, or doesn't.

A forum would be very interesting. The old forum isn't doing much anymore. SR2 is especially ripe for discussion, as it's such an open-ended game and so many different strategies will work. Also, it would be nice to see which bugs other people have seen.

No, I think the AI would be a trading madman. Look at all the extra freighters that, for example, the Arceans and Alterians always have flying around aimlessly. If they could have more routes, they'd do it quickly.

I've just found out the hard way that military victory is by far the highest scoring possible. I won my first influence victory, when I could have easily won a military victory. My average score (with military victories) was 45,000, and with this influence win my score was about 4000! It was fun to see the influence victory ending, but that's about all the satisfaction I got from that. Thanks for the advice, Mascrinthus.

I had two Terrans on the foreign relations screen (I was Yor). One didn't have anything, no planets, money, techs, etc. The other one was the legit one.

Sorry if this has been posted, but I haven't been able to find it. What changes are there for 1.4? I've heard it will change morale building effectiveness. How so, officially? And what else? Thanks

Reever, I almost entirely agree with you. However, a high population is one of the best resources there is. You can give up other things for a high pop. When you have that and Advanced Troops Mod, you'll be able to bombard and quickly take planets of civs who have better military than you. And you don't have to worry about being invaded. If your population is far above everyone else, and you're keeping up with soldiering, you're fine if anyone tries to invade your planets. <br/

Nobody cares. Tell that to your friends, who might appreciate it. Seriously, I don't care if politics are thrown into ANYTHING, so long as the idea is in some way profound. This, pardon me for saying, is puerile.

Lenius, you're right, especially on smaller universes. Medium is supposed to be where the AI is best, so I play that now. You often only get 3 (sometimes less, if you're Thalan) planets. You have to make your big decisions much faster. We need to be able to destroy ANY building.

But why must all be equal? There's a trick to the beam weapons. That's all I'm saying. If it doesn't fit with the way you think, then mod it. But I like it, even though I reported a bug! Good gaming.

Moosetek, I kind of like the idea that it's something that could be missed if you're not paying attention to the research text. After all, Doom Ray is pretty damned awesome, and so to split the research up into a couple of long pushes seems quite reasonable. The fact that I missed it is due to my own negligence, and if others miss it, then that's what happens if you don't read the reports or look at relevant text. Think about the fact that you're running a large empire of many billions of peo
