Thanks, Gothsheep, you totally answered my question and showed me that Mumble had the right idea. I wasn't paying attention when I researched it, most likely. Sorry to have posted a debug on this, all!

Mumble, it might not have to do with the freeze, and I'm sorry if I implied that. It's just that it took my 20-odd weeks to research it, and then it added nothing to my weapons. If it's on the tech tree, I think we can agree that it should do something, or at least BE something, no? Maybe you were savvy to the fact that it didn't REALLY exist, but I wasn't. In fact, I tend to use beam weapons, and I'm pretty sure I've seen it before. But I've been playing since 1.0, so I'm not sure when it

I'm playing the latest 1.3. I've just researched subspace annihilator, but it doesn't show up as a possible weapon in the starport when I'm building ships. There's an old thread, started in May, that said it was missing. Nobody at Stardock responded, so I'm posting my debug file here. This debug file comes after I closed the game (it froze) by pulling the battery out of my computer and restarting. Apologies if this has been covered, but I couldn't find it with a search of th

Huh? 4 good? There's the Torians, the Altarians, and the Iconians. The Terrans, Arceans, Thalans, and Drath are Neutral, while the Drengin, Yor, and Korx are Evil. That accounts for everyone, right? 3 Good, 4 Neutral, 3 Evil. It's balanced. No, Drath have always been good in my games.

It will be interesting to see what you think about Metaverse. When I started, I suddenly realized that I had to play games out for the score to count. It sort of changes strategy near the end, when you're clearly in control and want to finish things up ASAP. By the way, will you be joining an empire? That's something I haven't done yet.

You may have partially missed my point - I am not being critical of GalCiv2 (at least not anymore), I am merely trying to highlight what I think can be improved. I had not, prior to a few days ago, read the debates on this forum, and am looking forward to doing so - but please do not mistake my lack of experience here for my lack of experience with GalCiv2. While I won't c

Good to see your enthusiasm, but I don't have the time or energy to reply to every point you make (though I could). No offence, but the truth is that I don't think there's anything you've said that hasn't been dealt with by numerous people in this forum with much more experience with the game. If you'd search the forum for a particular topic amongst your vast list, review the debate so far, and then see what you have to add, we'd all have some time saved.

With all due respect, I think the first two responses are totally missing the OP's point. Well, if Cartier109 is right, then I need to take that part back. Are you positive about that, Cartier? Could you explain what you mean by zooming in all the way so that you can't see ships, please? Even when I can't see any of my ships, the central box at the bottom of the screen ticks off the move of each ship, one by one. Needless to say, I've had the exact same problem as OP and haven't found a sol

KB23, I get your ideas. However, I think that the religious ideas that people have come up with should be taken more seriously. Not that you don't, that's for sure. But I think that if you take a religious path, it should have a very strong effect upon your civ, but not upon the aliens, except in the smallest degree. Now, maybe you could make it so that those who are aligned with your ethical alignment might be somewhat influenced by your religion. That's all well and good. But I couldn't

Hmmmm I have to agree here with Fuzzybunnies. You should be able to get them to like you at least a little bit. I mean if a Civ absolutly hates you, and wants you dead, is your first step going to be send an entire freighter of goods and your own people to a planet that wants to see your race extict? Or would you try to open up diplomatic relations by first sayin

Just a point to consider: are you all aware that Planetary Defense isn't working? Don't try to factor that 25% in yet, and don't build the damn things! If I remember right, it'll be fixed in the 1.3. That should help quite a bit, if you think you need help with planetary defense. I prefer to use bodies.

Running 1.3 beta 2a. The blue new ship indicator squares that come up at the beginning of a turn are doing weird things. Sometimes they appear to float above the area where they normally fall, but I think that it means that a couple of them are not showing up, because I have new ships which are sometimes not announced. Also, after I launch a new ship and it uses its moves, it often looks like a blue indicator square goes quickly up the list and off the top of the screen, as if I had just clic

It would have been alot easier to give a full answer or to add missing details and for other people to look for the answer if they have the same problem if there would not be that many flaming posts. I didn't see any smoke until you busted out the lighter fluid! What's the deal?

I love threads where the starter asks a question but every poster just writes offtopic and wont answer anything. Good for you, Bodyless. You've added one detail, the roll-aspect of combat, to an answer that was being fleshed out from the very first reply, yet you sure want to appear to be the only one here who can or will answer the questio

Right. With high soldiering means less troops to take a planet, meaning smaller and cheaper ships. I use strictly tiny-hulled invasion craft. Advanced Troop Mod and some engines. One per planet. If I need more troops, information warfare. Interesting idea, Kanil. I don't know if I'd go that route, based much upon the strategy that I use which is

This is much less than the 60 damage the fighters took, but non-trivial. "Non-trivial"! If you're in the battleship, you'd be sure to say it much more strongly than that! What about, "f------ horrible"!

A couple of things. First, though it's been pooh-poohed on this message board before, it's very important to keep your population as high as possible. That means keeping taxes quite low for a long time and researching farming techs up to the max. A planet might have 50% approval, but if it's also got 30 billion people, it's practically invincible. There are ways to keep planets from ever rebelling, no matter what the approval rate. I've had planets at 50 billion people at 10% approval for a
