Beta is scheduled for July 12.
God King
Just had an altarian battleship kill off all the ships orbiting one of my worlds my Flag ship 5 defenders 2 scouts 3 battleships and the planet had a system defence that I rushed the turn before I was attacked (don't know if it was in play or not - I saw him, rushed, hit turn button, he attacked, then my turn again) only 4 turns before I had exchanged technology and he was a couple of techs behind me. Great dice rolling, or a bug, I don't know. Just thoug
Or at least the clouds could move....
OUTgunned - They move around a lot. They have the full knowledge of the map at the start of the game (or so I have heard) including all the anomalies and planet, so they don't have to do any exploring like the player does. I often find the AI races grabing a planet or anomaly just before I can get something there. Players always play as humans. There are 5 AI races that you always compeat against (and as I have been testing the alpha on as hard a dificulty as I can, they usual
I like the idea of having some new anomalys appear on the map when new technology (ie sensors) is researched or when the survey ship is at a level capable of entering it. Once a sector has been mapped, right now there is no reason to go back and visit it again. If new things can appear, it gives the survey ships something to do, keep surveying. Not all the powerful anomalies should appear later. That black hole is quite large and visible right now, you just don't have a chance of s
I try to uncover the map as soon as possible so as to find all the anomalies. All those free techs and free ships are what makes it possible for me to keep pace with the other races in the research & defence in the early game (hard difficulty).
Stars - I have heard of it only, not following it, etc., thus I am not qualified to comment. S.E. - Micromanagement heaven and graphics so poor and interphase so poor that I became fustrated right off the bat. I stuck with it for a time, but never had fun. MOO3 - No matter how poor the game is, it is still going to sell a ton & become the new standard because of the name. I suspect that from all the reviews I have seen & heard from the E3 that it will be a good, solid, fun ga
Just took a 15 minute tour of the new alpha. Things are shaping up great !!! :) Love the new planet surface pics. Technology... wow now I know what I get when I research something. Good job :CONGRAT: I can almost hope that it rains all weekend now.
Sounds cool. Will try it out in the morning. Any other updates?

Just recycaling the thread. Thanks. :)
It is possible that you sent the ship into orbit. Do you see a little ship down below all the planets that may represent the colony ship. Double click on it to send it back into outerspace. Just my guess, as I did this a couple of times before I figured it out.
Yesterday (5-22-02) GameSpyDaily.com reported that GalCiv will be published worldwide by Strategy First. Sorry if I posted before the official Stardock announcement. I read about it on Apolyton.net.
I like the n/a's. But perhaps something in the preferences screen that lets the user decide...
Sounds cool. I wonder just what the message was.... In terms of MOO, there have been a bunch of new screen shots just released. I saw them on appolyton.net (or is it .com???) in the MOO3 forums there.
Enjoy the vacation!!!!! :D
And even a couple more: Space ship info, cuts off HP of Battle Cruiser (gfx?) as only enough space for 6 lines of text. Staar Fighter text - the # after the name (when 4 digits long) appears very close to the slider. Sometimes, if you click on an enemy planet, it allows you to change the production que (I havn't experimented much with this to see if it doesn't just change it back when you leave or anything). Any one know how to get a list of what each planet h
Couple more comments: When the 3rd line of a completed project is shown, the bottom 1/2 of the text is cut off (gfx error?). There is no scroll bar with more than 4 completed items. The mini map shows what species controls what quadrent even before they have been discovered. Shouldn't that be covered by the fog... A lot of times I have trouble moving the wrong ship with autopilot as I have the same type of ship, but I had the wrong one highlighted.... thus m
Wow, just read what I wrote and it sounds like I am kinda snobby, rude, etc. Not my intention. So please read it as a discussion and not as me being an ass. Thanks all, peace. :)
Good idea Solitair/Paul :) I agree that it is far more subjective. That doesn't mean that it couldn't be on such a poll. "Most important aspect of a stratagy game" is itself subjective. Lets think about the purpose of the poll - if I had to guess, it will be used to help determine where to focus in on the game. Thus Frogboy / Brad has a point, replayability would mean so little in this regards that ya, it shouldn't be on the poll. But that is NOT to say that replayabilit
Yes, Winkie does look like he winked at the wrong girl and had the entire Lions football team pound his arse. ;p Of course as the Lions stink, it wasn't that much of a pounding.... The replayability of a game is so important the I won't even look at an RTS game until it is on the $9.99 shelf at Best Buy, and even then with great trepidition (is it worth the cost of two lunches) will I buy it. Most RTS games have 20 odd scenarios and then all it is good for is the expansion pack or mult
I used to have an old game around 20 years ago on my old IBM PCjr called Rogue. The graphics consisted of nothing more than ASCII characters. There was no sound. The objectve was to go down a dungeon 20 levels and get back up. I never made it. I played that game until computers were so different that they couldn't recognize the programing. I even purchased an external 5 1/4" drive so with the next 2 computers I had I could keep this game. The monsters never moved unless you entered the ro
How about a command that says stay put, make repairs (say 1 hp per every 3 turns or so to a max of 75%) but that doesn't allow the ship to move. If attacked the ship doesn't get the repair bonus. If in a star system, repairs at one point per every 2 turns until fully healed, and with a shipyard 2 points per turn. That way you get a bonus for having the ship focus on repairs, a bonus for having a supply base and raw materials (not canabilizing the ship for spare parts) and a bonus for having a
