First, thank you devs (Brad) for the opportunity. I've started 3 games, played to only about turn 25 just to get the feel for the new format. Will play a longer game this weekend. For Tech Support: Having Protected Folders turned on in Win 10 Security will prevent the game from launching until the game is whitelisted. The security feature prevents the creation of a user folder, if I read the popup message correctly. The Epic site shows 2 versions of the game: GalCiv4 a

Frogboy, First, as a "casual" gamer (since Pong), I didn't know about Star Control until E3, so good marketing move. (Outside of GalCiv III, I don't really follow the forums and news.) To your question: on PC, I play only single-player games, mostly 4X strategy (GalCiv III and Civ 5). I still love those games, and I never play them multiplayer. (Same with Sins, and I just took advantage of the sale to try Offworld.) On console, though, it's mixe

However, since you have posted this, I'll make a suggestion. You could try to add some RP to your game. <span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, san

Frogboy, Please see my post at https://forums.galciv3.com/470897/page/1/ With the wheel going away, I would like to have custom governors I can create. I have 5-6 basic models
Bottom line up front: The AI is just not ready for prime time in long games. I have read the dedicated threads discussing issues with the AI, and read Frogboy’s and others’ defense of the current AI. After playing deeper into an insane map game, I finally understand the criticisms. <span style="fon
I have to admit I like the new system. I play games on very slow and that, combined with the change, forces me to build more small and medium warships than I ever would otherwise. It also, as Buck said, meant that I had to specialize a whole lot of research worlds, which I never did before. One strategy for these very expensive techs: survey anomalies. The 25% research boost and the Unexpected g
Most of my 5 have been mentioned, but I figure you're looking for consensus. 1) Starbases!!!!!! I like insane maps and eventually have hundreds of starbases. Building them is the single most time-intensive micromanagement task I do. I like someone
Others have commented on how using the Designer can give you an advantage. Me, I also like designing ships because I find it relaxing. My day job isn't very creative. I often enjoy spending hours designing ships (not even playing the game) because it allows me to be creative. I also (try) to write Sci Fi and I can design ships in the Designer that allow me to visualize the ships in my stories. &nb
I have been using Win 10 for a week now and the game runs fine. Further, Win 10 manages RAM better than Win 7. If you bring up Task Manager, you can watch as the OS seems to figure out how to manage RAM effectively. When I first start my current game, it uses 7 GB (about 1 GB less than Win 7). Within 20 minutes or so, the game RAM usage has dropped to about 3-4GB. I don't know why, but
I've completed a standard set of Terran ships (see below) that are now available in the Workshop. I've also posted the "Stardock Dreadnaught" that was an honorable mention in the Ship Design Contest. (The Uharu Class Freighter, slightly mod
I have experienced the same thing. Almost half of my workshop designs are black screens. Tried to post this issue in the forum about two weeks ago but no one responded. If Devs are reading, please fix this or at least comment. Thank you.

(Forgive if this has been asked.) I have uploaded 4 ship designs to the Steam workshop. Two of the designs are black in the Steam display (no image). I had to upload images and change the title adding "Click to see image." The other ships look fine. The possible difference: The designs that don't have a
I'm seeing the same thing: grayed out techs. Not on all tech trees, either. I am playing as a custom race.
Will a mechanism for sharing ship designs/parts be in place at, or shortly after, launch?
Just wanted to say it's been fun playing through this since Alpha. I've been part of other company's Alphas/Betas and I can honestly say Stardock is a class act. The way you engage the community, incorporate player feedback, and make yourselves available to the community is awesome. Good luck and good business!
I just wanted to thank you for this thread. I adjusted my improvements strategy and did much better.
Brad and company, with one exception the AI has come along nicely overall. As I have been doing, I played two games this last weekend on an insane spiral map (can I just say how much I love the spiral map), 12 majors, all minors, abundant stars/worlds, abundant and common everything else, Challenging difficulty. On Saturday
I'll add one more to this thread. Turn 150, insane map, Challenging. I had to retire (first time ever). I had 56 colonies and 45 ships. Krynn had 121 colonies and 583 ships. It's not just the expansion. By itself, I could probably handle that. It's the malevolent perk where every planet gets an overload class ship. I had three AIs, all having taken that perk, de
