Spore was very much an experiment, and some experiments just don't come off. The main problem I think was that in order to appeal to more hardcore gamers (like the people reading this as opposed to people who occasionally play The Sims), it needed to not have EA on its back, but such was the technical undertaking, it needed EAs money to work. I don't consider it as bad as some people say it is - they are trying to compare it to 'real' games like GalCiv, SoaSE etc

The idea that there is a contradiction between science and religion is mostly a 20th century invention (along with intelligent design, ultra-Darwinism etc). Darwin was supported by most elements of the church when he published the Origin of Species. I don't believe in the title of the thread, mainly due to the fact that science is by definition a rational pursuit of knowledge about the world, while religion could be considered non-rational (not irrational).

Impulse Anywhere doesn't require IE7. It is released in beta today. Basically it lets you download an Imulse update onto a disk or whatever from a computer with Impulse installed and transfer it to your non-Impulse computer.

After playing Entrenchment you simply can't imagine Sins without it... Whatever happens get the Impulse patches and updates. They aren't just bug fixes, they are balance/graphics/awesomeness improvements

I reckon some people think that Impulse requires IE7 to be the default browser for Impulse to work... [opens new Firefox tab to look at another thread] ...which is not the case at all. It is next to impossible (unless you've been doing very peculiar things to your computer) to be able to run Sins but not IE7.

Not sure if this is possible, but could it be done that there was a 'dynamic space' option where phase lanes could change (open and close) mid game? That would make static games more interesting. On the diplomacy side, the missions system need a 'chainsaw overhaul' IMO. None of the AIs get any missions, you can't set any, it just doesn't work evenly at all, and you can lose alliances from missions that aren't feasable given the position you are in. I a
