Oh BTW Boogie, random question but do you have an estimate of the download size of the finished game and the betas? I'm wondering whether to get just the download (cheaper due to no shipping costs) or whether to get the box as well (won't need to worry about downloading). I have problems with download limits and slow speeds at times. Or is it possible to alter my order if this turns out to be a problem?

[quote who="Annatar11" reply="16" id="2213741"] I'm seriously considering putting in a pre-order to do beta 0. Usually I don't do much betaing (in fact Entrenchment was probably the first time I gave any sort of constructive criticism for any beta), but I do have lots of free time over the summer... Ooh lots of groovy editors to play with. Like Spore but with a game actually attached this time (and where the editing actually matters rather than simply being aesthetic for most of them). I like the effects as well. Cool but not overdone. I'm seriously considering putting in a pre-order to do beta 0. If you look at the Demigod pantheon stats you'll see that 1 and 2 are not as weak as you think...

I bought Sins on min spec (or below if you believe CanURunIt) and I couldn't believe how 'reasonably' it ran. I mean, it was stuttery in big battles and it had to be played on low settings, but even so... Anyway it is great that Stardock are nice with these things. Every computer model is different so min specs are only a rough guide anyway. Their policy is probably 'give them their money back and they are far more likely to buy our other games or buy

The Maya calendar thing is a myth, especially since the Mayans themselves didn't think that there would be an apocalypse, since there are actually many Mayan inscriptions showing dates beyond 2012, and there is never, ever, any reference to an apocalypse then. What 2012 was to the Mayans was the end of a calendar cycle, where they'd have a big party and start a new cycle (they seriously lked to plan ahead didn't they). So the Mayan apocalypse stories are roughly equivalent to thos
They are sorting out the problems. Don't post with something that has been said millions of times before. Frogboy's journal entries (look on the homepage) are a good read relating to this.
We already know that the next expansion will be diplomacy/civilian orientated.
Lag depends on how many people are playing and how far apart the players in question are. If you've got a 3v3 with players from all over the world, you're going to get lag no matter what. Name me a major online game around at the moment that doesn't experience some lag at times.
Basically its Impulse or DRM, take your pick. Stardock need some way of seperating legit customers from the pirates, and this is the best and most consumer-friendly way of doing it.

To RYG: Demigod's online activation is not required to play the single player game. It is required to play online multiplayer (name me a multiplayer that doesn't require this) and to download patches. This simply means that pirates don't get all the great post release support, which considering they didn't pay for it, is perfectly fair. Once this is done Stardock has a record saying 'this copy of Demigod belongs to this person', which also means that t

I find that laptops are unpredictable in terms of how well they can play games. Mine can play Sins at max, while struggles with ETW at low/medium. Not that this is much of a problem given that my old pc was such a pile of junk it lagged on low with Sins.

Sure it looks like you found Mr Frog at a bad moment, but what did you expect to happen? Looked liked more of a rant than a criticism, and it was on their own chat server... From the sounds of it Brad can handle criticism fine, what he doesn't like is people ranting about something when they don't really understand the details of what they are complaining about.
Um... isn't that taking double posting to an extreme? anyway, since you mentioned TW, I remember a game called Imperial Glory that was released a few years ago, that was basically an inferior TW clone. One thing that really sucked was the land combat, because there was no moral system or routing. This meant that units always fought to the last man, and since battles were limited to about 6 or 7 units a side at most (can't remember exactly) it basically meant
