THANKS!! Glad you're enjoying the program and thanks for the feedback :)

Try it yourself, I just did. The difference with Fences running is just 3MB :) (If you're running on XP, you'll experience a few MB more ; on XP it has to load the background image in to memory also)
So for those having problems with DeskScapes & Fences on Vista, did restarting help for anyone? Or no. Thanks
Hi Aberneth, If you resize the "months" fence taller, does the top of the icon beneath it begin to show? Also, XP or Vista? Guessing XP? Thanks
Hi Michael, are you speaking about the "create new fence" option? If so, see mickeko's message above. Let me know if that didn't work or if that wasn't it. Thanks!
boofus - lol nice bug. does this problem go away if you reproduce, and then right click the general area of your desktop and choose "auto arrange"? Also, XP or Vista... and multimonitors? or one. i'm assuming one. thanks!
Hey skilson, just wondering, what did you do to fix your own problem? Thanks!
Hi gm3000, yes Neil is correct Fences loads as part of explorer. If you'd like to observe a 'rough' figure you may start by killing explorer, renaming the DesktopDock.dll module (or DesktopDock64 on 64bit) of Fences, starting explorer/measuring...then repeating and putting it back.
Yellowrules - could you capture your error log and send the log file to [email protected] ? Have them forward it to Jeff. You can get at your error log via the "?" icon in the top right corner of Impulse. Thanks..
mickeko - are you using XP or Vista? If Vista, is UAC enabled? Using DeskScapes or DreamScene? Playing a video dream? Just takin some stabs... snapshots should definitely show the icons on them as well! Currently I don't forsee having Fences allow for no-alignment (e.g. free-floating icons within them) primarilly as I don't have horizontal scrolling available at this time. perhaps at some point :) I do hope to have Fences be able to show folders on the desktop... imagine right
not long at all when you're postin on the boards / are lucky ;) enjoy
[e digicons]B)[/e] excellent! bold / shadowed text is a good idea. i've made a look to expanding the customizability of the title text (transparency, shadow, font/size/style) at some point in the future. that'll probably come around when skinning does.
good observation! made note, will get that fixed up. glad you're enjoying the program & thanks for the glitch report =)
hrm. where are these icons? on the same drive your windows installation is on? if not, try copying them to that one just to see if that help (diagnostics step). thanks
Bsloss - Try updating the latest version now on Impulse - (v0.95, just updated Sunday). How far does that go to help with your complaint? P.s. Thanks for the kind words!
JoDa: goodie :) Zubaz, looking into it, no looks like that step isn't in the resetdata. Should add..
JoDa, that's wierd, I do see it on your account. You've tried reloading Impulse once after it loaded & connected, I imagine? (E.g. it updated...let it connect & pull down new data, then restart it.) It should definitely be showing for you, even regardless of being installed or not. One random thing that probably won't help but would be helpful from a diagnostics step, head to "%allusersprofile%\Stardock\Impulse\data\public" and erase all the loose XML files in that
Hi guys, Unfortunatly, changing icon sizes per-fence or per-icon/etc isn't something I can do. Since Fences was written for compatibility / to work with the existing desktop rather than replace it, i'm stuck dealing with some of the desktop's "truths". And one of those is that, yeah, can't do that :S Selectively removing icon labels sounds pretty neat, but again anything that involves changing the size of an icon gets pretty dicey. The difficulty / level-of-sophistication requ
Hi James, Yeah Windows 7 - I haven’t written in compatibility yet. They changed the mechanism through which I get Fences loaded so I have to use a different method. Will be taking care of that immediately come “Beta 1”, so check back in sometime in January / a couple weeks after Win7 goes beta. Thanks
Excellent. How important do you think is the feature that you can leave some things visible always? Not super important? or?
Hi shorty, A few things you might want to try, see if any work: (1) Disable UAC, or at least ensure that ObjectDock isn't being launched with admin privledges (not sure if this is involved, but just looking after the possbility). (2) Exit ObjectDock and launch it from Explorer's run dialog directly. The path for ObjectDock might be something like "%programfiles(x86)%\Stardock\ObjectDock\ObjectDock.exe". (This will potentially have an effect ObjectDock's
For those of you who have fences that scroll, this preview of the next version should blow you away pretty good :) http://screencast.com/t/ramhxhJK8
yummm sugar roasted peanuts
Hi winlover, glad its been working well for you! Hrm, so where have you noticed the increase in RAM usage? Also, XP or Vista? Thanks
that's odd. i'll have to see if there's some way i can disable it programmatically. regardless, *somebody* is setting a wierd setting to your desktop, and I know exactly what that setting is / active-desktop is the only thing i know of that sets it :-S
