...On my list of "current best" buildings, I'd have three or four different morale-boosting buildings, three or four different production-boosting buildings, etc. Instead of really showing me the "current best," it shows me the current best for each race...
I wrote this post (see link) to provide a suggestion to deal with this problem, but the devs are currently too busy to add in any more features at this time.
+ TWEAK: Drengin AI now uses some new code for choosing planetary improvements. Beta testers: please let us know if you notice anything.
This is what I have to say after playing 1 game: Well the Drengin now seem to use more of their production bonus structures (I'll be using the term "PBS" for short) than before, even going so far as to try to build several of them on a single planet. However, they don't seem to consider building a slave pit instead of a PBS, whi
9. How long should I expect to wait before enemy planets which are rebelious (>4.0) finally join my side? I've been waiting on some Drengin worlds for about 30 turns.
For every turn a planet could culture flip, a random number calculation is used to determine if the planet flips or not. As such, its theorectically possible that a planet could never flip, or it could flip the first chance it got regardless of the loyalty bonus.
10. Is the Mind Control Cente

Now that I think about it, we really have cut the work out for the devs this time. I wonder if things were like this during the original DL betas? I only found out this game after DL was released so I wouldn't know what things would be like then. Could I get responce from someone who was in the DL betas?

You know you're a Galciv fan if... You count the days until the GalCiv movie is released (old forums joke, I think I still have the image, somewhere...). You read the Galciv forums dayly (guilty). You have posted a reply in every post about carriers, tactical combat, and any posts that has been locked, banned, or otherwise manifest themselves within the nightmares of the devs. You have written half of those posts...
You can also get to the mapEditor via the "Editors" button on the start-up gadget.
???? Startup gadget? I'm not sure what you are talking about. When I first downloaded the update, I couldn't find it so I made a quick look in the TA directories and made myself a desktop shortcut. ________________ Although the map editor looks interesting, I do have a few problems. 1.
I had a debug message put in that would pop up a windows message box if the game detected it, but it was popping up behind fullscreen windows and made the game appear to be frozen, so I removed it.
I would sometimes get error messages that freeze my screen, but they would not be visiable, and would freeze the game. Try a previous auto-save or something. Maybe an intact game could be loaded from that. In any case, I ussually keep a save of my first turn on any given map I play just in case I would like to restart things from the very begining.

I wouldn't mind seeing the AI use starbases, or diplomacy better. 1. The AIs never decommision old starbases. I've conquoured many of their sectors, leaving their old starbases behind so they have to pay maintaince for them. Inaddition, they don't upgrade them well. I don't often recall ever needing to destroy a military starbase because it was giving my oponnets too much of a boost to firepower, or slowing down my ships too much. I also haven't seen the AI max out an influence
1- when i use the torian super breeder ability, does it help if my approval is only 99%?
Nope. Any planet with less than 100% morale does not benefit from the 4x population growth. See 75% morale for more details.
Another question about the Thalans, I tried them under Good and the Gaia Vortex doesn't seem to be working. It's meant to be a 10% to PQ bonus/Morale Bonus/Econ bonus/Food Bonus. I planted it on my homeworld (PQ21 after teraforming) and gained no tiles. The food/morale definitely worked though. Also, what bonuses were a empire wide vs just the planet it's built on?
Last time I checked, PQ bonuses only work on planets you actually colonize. As such, if you colonized every
Q: What is the difference between the standard edition and the collector's edition? A: The collector's edition has a fold out tech tree map, some posters, a hotkey card, and a music CD. Plus we plan to provide some digital content to Collector's Edition users (themes, web features, etc.) but those won't be ready on release day.
I pre-ordered since sometime in beta 2. Go buy "Space Empires V". It has most of the features you ask for and some you didn't (sphere and ring worlds for instance, along with star creation). Unforturnately, SEV doesn't have the same quality of game play as GalCiv 2. Too many features made it impossible to do so.
Has anyone successfully managed to colonise a large number of planets on a large map with the Thalans?
Nope, but that might be a plan for my next game.
I never even considered this as a viable strategy. Hmm...I think I know what I'll be trying with the Thalans next time!
It worked well on tough when I tried it. I was serious about it, reseached the tech required to get the next structure and ended up with a planet that dominated influence

I'll add some comments myself.
I forgot to mention that one of the problems with counting on adaptation is that humans have essentially stopped evolving. People don't generally factor in genetics when they choose who they have children with (if they really make the choice at all). I understand fully the massive timescale evolution requires, but our society spends vast resources on saving the lives, and correcting the defects, that evolution would rather toss out. These corrected

Try reducing the number of planets you are using. They seem to appear in greater numbers if there are less planets around. Atleast, thats my experience.

I'm back. I played a game as the Thalans that I thought was going to last longer than it did. I decided since I had nothing better to build, that I would try the Thalan influence strategy. A few techs later, I was building the next generation influence structures, and in the second year of the game I won an influence victory. I even managed to culture flip a nearby planet in the process. Looks like a planet with an influence of 148+ is going to dominate everything in a 2 sector radius.<
I have a question about the Thalan Super Ability... This is the one where they build factories in one week, right?

OK, my question is, does that superbility refer to just factories, as in the one building type with that name. or does it apply to all manufacturing structures, ie. factory, advanced factory, manufacturing center ad industrial sector?
The ability reduces cost of industrial buildings thus allowing you to build them quicker, or
I support this! Can we get a shout from one of the devs, perhaps? Just a teeny one, saying that this is doable or not and wheter or not they're going to look into fixing it? Pweeese, Stardock?
+ TWEAK: Ship Maintenance now excludes freighters and is lowered by 1%.
It seems to be having a positive effect. I was able to start and finish the colony rush with the Thalans on a small map without having any serious economic problems, or go into severe dept (more than -500bc) before I started making money again. That, or my strategy to deal with a negative population growth is working very well.
