BUG: Drengin don't get enough upgrades to economic starbases. Solution: Drengin need some techs that provide starbase upgrades.
This is a common problem with any civ that recieved new industry techs. The problem is, these modules are linked with techs that provide other things, such as a research capital. How about you liberate some of the modules you get from the default industry techs? You could create a bunch of new techs for them so we can have the o

I know the feeling. You get a new toy, and you can't wait until you can play with it. I build my own PCs, and its a real joy picking what parts to use. Have fun with your new toy.
My gameplay style is basically. pick up a few good planets close to home base and then maximize the planets and starbases.
Try to get a bit more that a few good planets. Any world, save those heavily damaged by invasions, can be useful by placing a few markets on them.
on the planets this is what i usually run. 3 factories, 1 farm, 1 entertainment complex 3 research and 3 money makers.
You might be too rigid in you planet setups. Try spe
Ok, I'm not sure what happened. It seems that I have the latest update, but I don't know when I got it. During my many attempts at downloading it, I opened up the game to check what version it was, and it said it was beta 5, the version number appears to be the same now as it was then. But now it shows that its beta 6, and I have new editors to use. It could of snuck in when I downloaded Sins ver 1.03. I did open up SD Central at the right time before I when to chat to ask if there was
I also can't get the hang of the campaign mode.
The DL campian isn't as good as the sand box mode. You may wish to play sand box instead if you are not enjoying the campian mode. By the way, has anyone had any troubles downloading the recent update, I haven't had any success. I have swithced to US-1. I've refreshed the xml data and asked SDCentral to check for new application updates several times. I've even uninstalled TA, and it still doesn't show the new version.
The question may sound stupid - to all those that already own TA and have played the beta: Would you advise me buying it? The unique technology trees are very appealing, but just be honest. Any critics yet?
Its not a stupid question if thats what you are asking. I've enjoyed the game thus far, and I can only expect it to get better. I already consider it worth my money, even if the game isn't ever finished. ________________ As for critics, I'm o
Not being able to skip cut scenes
Sometimes you want to go back and review events that have occured, or atleast I do. Play Period 03 ---------------- Event 01 The Korx Surrendered... The Korx could not hold their own against both the Yor and the Drath. The Korx surrendered to the Yor before I was able to take some of their worlds. Forutunately, I was able to buy the Korx homeworld from the Yor, though, at a high price. ---------------- Event 02 --Influence victory in 10 turns... Play Period 02 ---------------- Event 01 The Torians are losing... It turns out that the Torians, the once mighty empire oppresing evil, had been at peace for far too long. Their enemies have since grown stong have, in turn, declared war on them. Even the Korx, who were not involved in the first war, have joined the fight. Since I'm not currently involved, I'm free to collect the resources that the Torian enemies have so generously freed up. I can tak
Play Period 01 ---------------- Event 01 I started in a corner of a galaxy. This might prove useful for my defense. I decided to research some cheap techs, such as "Remedial Engineering" to get my civ started. As for colony ships, I decided to upgrade my first one to a design I made in a previous game. This model was designed specifically for the Thalans, to help counter the Thalan population growth penalty. It uses 2 colony modules, instead of 1, all
I heard that some people didn't know how to play as the Thalans, so I decided to make an AAR about me playing them, and how I can use them to conqour the galaxy. The setings I used were: -All victory conditions on. -Default game options, except for blind exploration, which is on. -All galaxy settings set to common except for asteriods and minor. --Minors were disabled, and asteriod were set to Abundant. My setup for the Thalans in
Can you imagine if we had GalCiv II: Multiplayer edition? Twilight of the Arnor would have been impossible to do because balancing 12 races would be impossible. Some races in Twilight will inherently be overall "better" than others in all likelyhood.
The Yor are currently proving themselves to be one of the weaker ones right now. Lowsy economics tends to make it difficult for them to do a whole lot of anything. Without any ability to build many economic structures witho
I play good. Not only because I'm a nice guy, but also because the bonuses you get playing as good are good (no pun intended). The bonuses to defense you get from good only techs doesn't become obsolete when the modules you get with the tech does, unlike the evil weapons which becomes useless once you get better techs. You get +5% extra hitpoints, and +15% to defense from the good defense techs alone. If you also build the Empathic Tactical Command Center you can build with the good tec
I got the PM Cari. I can send in the save, but I don't think its nessacary. I didn't notice it at the time since I wasn't designing ships for that test game, otherwise I would of noticed that the AI designed ships were showing up in the 'user' section everywhere else. Apparently I was pointing out the exception and not the rule. You can see what I'm talking about by waiting until you have AI designed ships, then from space select a planet and open the mini-window that allows yo
My point is that I think we can all agree that downloading hurts the game industry and therefore we shouldn't do it. To say that it is the moral equivalent of stealing? Well - you have got some serious philosophical labour ahead of you.
Arrgh! I wanted to have some fun to work on this but its taking too long. I have some other stuff I need to do right now. I'll get back to this when I get some more time to work on it. I'm not going to waste anyone's time

I think your logic is flawed. What gives you the best in game effect isn't always related to the amount of points you spend on something. I would argue that Economics, followed by Morale, followed by Population Growth would give you the best bang per point. Say what you will, but you can't run an empire without money. With money, you can buy stuff and maintain an empire with a budget. More of it allows you to afford more and better factories, labs, and ships. That said, I try to avoid u
I've noticed it myself. I find that you upgrade through most of the missle weapons at minimal cost because most of the weapons have the same price. Get some good missle weapons techs, and then work on defense. As for repairing my ships, I don't use it because its feels like I'm using an exploit of the game. It defeats the purpose of playing a difficult game if I can simply cheat. This is a big deal in TA because we now get structural enhancements which can boost the hp of ships. You can
Malice, as in the capital ship ability? (Need to check the name). Last time I checked, 100 points of damage would deal 25 points of damage to --> *nearby ships* <-- affected by malice. It becomes more powerful with every additional ship you can get under its influence. As such, its great for clearing out pirate bases since they tend to have a lot of pirate ships.
I've seen people in our forums over the years boldly admit they're pirating our game but that they are willing to buy it if we add X or Y to it -- as if it's a negotiation.
Sounds more like a hostage situation. They want these things, and they say they will give you X amount of hostages, but when they get their stuff, they keep the hostages and ask for more. The reality is, if they really want you to add X and/or Y feature to a game, then they should support you.
It boggles my mind that anyone would hate designing the ships. I mean, I can't be the only one who played with Lego growing up. For me, it's practically the best part of the game!
You're not alone. I played with lego myself. Every so often, I get the energy to design a new ship for the game, sometimes building a new one to fill a specific role. My brother has commented in the past that I build good looking ships. Maybe I should post some images some time.
Well I tried it to see how it works. Here is what I noted. ________________ 1. Steal that advanced tech! One of the problems I ran into is, many times you want a new ship designs to be made now. In the test game I played, I managed to steal a disrupters tech from the Drengin when my ships were using early mass driver weapons. Suffice to say, I had to wait a while before I could build these newer ship. I saw the Drengin use their newer ships against me shortly after I could build
