the Drengin surrendered to me ...and promptly handed over the prisoner that you were tasked with rescuing. Campaigns in games are generally extended tutorials. DA's are more challenging than most. You got lucky. Keep playing. You will, in time, appreciate the depth of this game. If you need any advice on strategy or tactics, don't hesitate to ask; the community is here for you. Good luck, and good gaming.

Don't declare war. Doing so will alert your enemy to your intentions, and allow them time to prepare. Move your forces into position, and strike without warning. Remember Pearl Harbor? It worked. Just make sure that you can finish what you have started. You don't have to do anything special. Simply attack a ship, or a planet, or starbase, or whatever, and you will then be at war with that race. Good luck.

I thought morale below 40% causes population to drop. It does indeed; but the drop happens very slowly, and it is on a planet by planet basis, so you would have to deliberately tank your entire empire for a fair period of time in order for this to have any real impact on your final score.

how can it be possible for babies not to go to heaven? There are any number of ways according to the bible. Here is one of many: Mark 16:16 "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned." In other words, a beautiful brown baby girl born in Pakistan is doomed to eternal hellfire simply because of her situation. The bible is not the word of god. The koran is not the

I play as the Terrans quite often, and have had very little trouble getting the other races to go to war with each other. The diplomacy bonuses are useful for other things as well. This does indeed make the manipulator ability redundant, IMO. I like being the only race with this level of capability, so you will rarely find the Drath in my games.

You have to start from scratch. You can't modify the 'stock' ships. Go to the shipyard, and click "new". The parts you have available will be shown. As you learn new techs, new parts will show up. Good luck.

I think that this could be too easily exploited. You could have a weak ship that is slightly faster than your opponents' stronger ship; all you would have to do is get it to chase you, then double back and attack when it is helpless.

Is there some "aggressiveness" slider that I missed? Not a slider per se, but when setting up the game you can choose how aggressive your opponents are. Also, raise the level of difficulty. At the lower levels the AI doesn't do much; the common phrase is 'sits and drools'. You can also bribe other civs into going to war with each other, and of course the easiest way to get into a scrap is to start it yourself.

I can help with this one. Untick "Show pre-release versions", and try again. You may have to manually install, or you may have to restart SDC, but this should work. If this still, for some reason, doesn't do it, then refresh the xml data.

I've never seen the AI save its own bacon that way I have, more than once. Now, I rather doubt that the AI was 'consciously' using that strat; more likely that the fleet just happened to be in the vicinity and chose to attack the nearest target. I was talking more from a human perspective. I almost never fleet my defenders while in orbit, for the reason given.

lack of information on your packaging Signoftheserpent, you act as if this is an uncommon occurrence. Why don't you name a few games for us that DO have this on their exterior packaging. You're lucky that this is the internet. You can spew your vitriol from the safety of your room. If this were the real world, and you (a total stranger) came up to me spouting accusations in that tone, you'd wake up with a crowd around you. You're fi

There was a young barmaid named Gail. On her chest were the prices of ale. And on her behind, (for the sake of the blind) Were the same, but tattoo'd in braille.

more difficult if you don't have enough movement points to finish wiping out their defenders That's the point of this type of strategy. If the defenders were in a fleet, then the attacker could wipe them out and invade in a single turn. A stack of throwaway defenders requires the attacking force to slog through them one by one, giving, perhaps, an extra turn to bring a fleet to bear that might actually have a chance of victory.

This is a problem on your end. If you will: Please go to C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2 (or wherever you installed the game at), open the debug.err file you find there in notepad, and copy/paste the contents into a post here. If this is a DA report, you'll find the debug in C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar instead. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem. Be sure to copy the debug immediately af

When Apollo astronaut Neil Armstrong first walked on the moon, he not only gave his famous "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" statement, but followed it with several remarks; usual com traffic between himself, the other astronauts, and Mission Control. Just before he re-entered the lander, however, he made the enigmatic remark "Good luck, Mr. Gorsky." Many people at NASA thought it was a casual remark concerning some rival Soviet Cosmonaut. However, upon che
