So I don't quite understand how the slider to build spies works, is it based off how many you have already build, how many you have in your inventory, or how big your economy is? The slider allows you to choose the percentage of your economy that you are willing to spend toward the next spy. You can designate up to 25%. Each spy you train will be more expensive than the last. This shouldn't be a problem, if you are growing your economy as well. I have

Then I looked at my avatar, which is representative of the University of Southern California, and suddenly all became clear. Oops. One of my customers was a Gamecock, and sometimes wears a sweatshirt with a very similar logo. My monitor is adjusted to be easier on my eyes, and colors are sometimes confused. Or perhaps it is just a mental block. (I'm still smarting from that loss to Texas.) I live on the banks of a river that tends to freeze over in the

drop a couple of spies on morale buildings and increase your invasion force by billions. Very nice, Dude. Especially helpful on worlds that I don't want to damage.

I think Spies should be left alone in Galciv2. I mostly agree with you. I would, however, like to see some kind of 'soft' espionage in the game; a way of gathering intelligence on other races without doing them harm. Super Spy ability is useless right now, and needs some help. I think that a 'super' ability should be something that no other race can achieve. The Krynn, the Korx, and to a slightly lesser exten

@Home Fries: While I (obviously) disagree with you regarding the coupon issue, I feel that I may have 'stepped over the line' in my reply. Please accept my apology re: the intelligence of the good people of the great state of South Carolina.

it did not explicitly specify the retail version of Dread Lords as a requirement to redeem said rebate: Stardock wants to let you know that the retail version of Galactic Civilizations II: Gold Edition contains a coupon in it that allows players of Galactic Civilizations II to be able to receive a $10 rebate from Stardock. Please read posts more carefully before jumping to criticize others.

This message was sent to all GalCiv II customers as far as I'm aware. Not all. I never received this message. I bought the game retail. something that could just as easily been clarified by saying "...allows owners of the retail version of Galactic Civilizations II to be able to receive a $10 rebate from Stardock". I realize that South Carolina isn't exactly the intellectual capital of the United States, but

Does anybody know if there is a way to make constructors that add multiple modules to the Star Base? I' Nope. One constructor=one module. Something to query about in future, though.

I bought this game and been trying to play it for the last week. This game has the steepest learning curve of any game out there. Is it me or does it take about 3 days to get a decent ship with weapons and armor or shields? It's you. Increase your research. Why is it soe hard to keep everybody happy? Is this a question about your life, or about the game? In the game,

No118 posted a mod he calls the "Randominater". It is in the library section of the forums. I haven't tried it myself, but it may be what you are looking for.

I just downloaded the new beta. I must say that I am excited about the game again. A quick question- will it work in the Meta? I still haven't posted my first Meta game; I tried a couple of times, but ran into some 'issues' that prevented me from posting. I'm chomping at the bit to get going, but I want to be perfectly sure that it will work before spending the next x hours of my life on the quest.

we do not own it, we only have a license for it. I don't know about you, but I OWN my game. The link through SDC says "BUY GAME". It doesn't say 'lease game', it doesn't say 'buy license'. I bought it and I will do with it as I choose. Not that Stardock has anything to worry about. The only people I know around here who could even understand it work at the university, and introducing it to them would be like being the first crack dealer in the neighbor

i blame cough medicine on my poor reading of the OP. No problem. I blame a number of 16 hour days on my poor wording of the title. I should have said 'support' rather than 'use'. I in no way meant to imply that I thought that Stardock would ever use such a thing. Their stance on DRM is well known, and admired by myself, and many, many others. It's just that when I made the connection I was, quite frankly...shocked, and perhaps wasn't thinking as clearl

Stardock and starforce are two different companies. I realize this, and I know all about the torrent thing. Ubisoft dumped them right after that fiasco. CDV did as well, and I hoped that they had seen the light, but it turned out to be all window-dressing, as they are now using TAGES, a French version of the same crap, using hidden device drivers.

I used to play a game called "Codename:Panzers" , by CDV. I had quite a bit of fun with it for awhile, but it was always causing problems. I found out later, that this was because of Starforce. It eventually trashed my CD-Rom, which had to be replaced. I vowed never to install a CDV title again. (Unfortunate, since I had already bought Phase Two, which is still in the shrink-wrap) I heard that CDV had decided to dump Starforce, and went online to find out. I found this link <a href="http://www

Personally I'm surprised it kept anything between exiting and restarting SDC When I first downloaded the beta, I had major issues with the download speed. It would start out just fine, but after a short time the speed would drop to ~1or2 kb/sec. If I shut down, and started again, I could get the good speed again, (at least for awhile) I probably went through this 15 or 20 times, sometimes completely shutting down the computer for a quarter hour or more

The only way that I know of to drop a planet's pop that quickly is through espionage. If you drop an agent onto a farming improvement, it will immediately do away with all of the population that farm allows you to have. I've always thought that this concept was deeyewembee, but that's the way it is. If the enemy AI did this to you, it would account for the drop in pop, but surely you would have noticed hordes of enemy agents on your worlds. Plus, this tactic would be a bit more clever than ev

why in 1 vote would the outcome be so different, When you roll two dice, there is a chance that you will roll an 11. You rolled two 11's in a row. Unlikely, perhaps, but statistically possible. The situation changed in the time between the 'rolls', and the AI reacted accordingly. '

I like the idea of scenarios also. You can do things with a scenario that we, as players, cannot. You can change the goals and victory conditions, starting abilities and techs, and setup of the galaxy in new and interesting ways; this could make them like a 'game within a game'. I'd like to add more text to the alien dialog in this update but there's an expense attached to that since it requires translation into a bajillion languages. I have always li

i never take a tech from espionage. It has been awhile since I've played DL, but IIRC, you have to have the highest level of intelligence before you have the chance of stealing techs. It doesn't happen very often, and the tech stolen will be random, so don't count on getting anything of much use to you. Stealing techs is not the primary reason for espionage, but more of a byproduct. the minor races don´t have espionage slider.
