One of the two goes *poof*. Well, it was a thought. it can be a good strategy to rush buy any queued capitals as soon as you take the world. T Another excellent idea. If the situation arises, I will try this one out.

Sugien, if you would like to know what the various medals mean, follow this link: http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=legend Unfortunately, Stardock has never bothered to define what their 'achievement levels' mean. Level two is five games won, by the graphic, but there is no easy way to know what the others are. The next one very well could be ten games won. Who knows? The only way to be sure is to search every post on these forums, look for a medal you don't recognize, 'mouse over' it

- if you capture two planets, both with an econ capital in the build queue, you can complete the first one only. The second one will be removed from the queue the minute you complete the first one. I wonder what would happen if I manipulated the build time, so that they would complete on the same turn? I don't know if the game uses the turn as the deciding factor as to what happened first, (in which case they would complete simultaneously) or if it puts

It entirely depends upon the size of the map and the habitable planets available. And also the number of races in the game. There are times that the available planets are gobbled up pretty quickly, and other times where they are around well into the game. You know, I almost put a caveat in my post regarding Mumble's, (and it turns out, your) opinion on this matter, but I thought that I should let him speak for himself. I generally don't wait

I believe that it should complete normally, since the previous civ started it in the queue. You can own as many capitals as you can capture/flip, but you can only build one of each.

An economy specialized planet is always my first planet now. By the time I colonize my third planet for technology, the second one is half done with its economic buildings, which will support it financially. Otherwise I go broke fast. I have to agree with Evil on this one. Wait until you have all your planets before deciding what to do with them. This is especially true for your capitals; once they are placed, they are there for good. It is excruciatin

Do I have to use my mining ship to do it? If so how do I do it with the mining ship? Yes, you do. Simply send your ship to the asteroid you want to mine, and it will do the rest. When it is finished, it will just sit there, so you'll have to send it to the next one yourself. An easier way to do this is to double-click to highlight the ship and give it the 'automate' command. It will upgrade the asteroid you choose, and when finished, move to the next i

The serial number of your game is in your registry. If you feel comfortable going in there, click run, and type REGEDIT. It is in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Stardock/ComponentManager/Drengin.net/DarkAvatar (or gc2). Don't muck about in there. You can compare the number to the one that either you or Stardock have. If nothing else, this will give you an additional source of information to work with. Good luck.

Thanks for the info guys. I have a few ideas percolating for a minor mod; I'll wait for Cari's new guide to see what I can do with the movies.

Should these be in the .png format, and what size should they be? Also, we are talking about the 'my documents' rather than the 'program files', aren't we? As long as I'm here, what can I do with the movies folder, and again, what format and size? Oh, one last thing. What race uses the alien skull and crossbones? The pirates!?

Thanks for the info, Evil. Glad to know that you finally got things somewhat sorted out. I didn't try the regedit thing; messing around in there can be very risky. Perhaps I should have put more trust in Kryo, he's almost always right. But if I did, then I wouldn't have found the root cause of our problem. The latest build of SDC is screwed up. It took me awhile to confirm this for myself, though I suspected it all along. I deleted, and reinstalled SDC, (the version in the 'downloads' section o

The reg entry for DL is v1.50.098, updated 2/04/2007, which is the same as SDC. I started DL to get a fresh debug, and it says-Debug Message: Version v1.5 last updated on: Thu Jan 11 13:39:19 2007. Odd. Checked SDC again and DA still reads as v1.50.072, updated on 3/11/2007. I suspect this is a problem in SDC itself, caused either by my accepting a DL update whilst rejecting the DA update, or by simply being offered the DA update and then rejecting it. I suppose there is nothing left to do but

Debug Message: Version v1.50 Dark Avatar last updated on: Fri Feb 9 14:05:57 2007 The issue is the same for both DL and DA. SDC shows that I have DL v. 1.50.098, updated on 2/4/2007. Ideas? I would at some point like to update. This is not possible now. "Plus it shows in the startup screen as v1.50, so I KNOW it is not updated" - Ditto.

I am having the same problem. I have deliberately put off updating until the current 'issues' with the patches are resolved. The following is copied directly from my latest debug: Debug Message: Version v1.5 last updated on: Thu Jan 11 13:39:19 2007 When I go to SDC it shows that I have the latest version installed, which is clearly not the case. I have refreshed the XML, which did nothing. It still shows me having v1.50x.072, updated on 3/14/2007. What can I do about this?
