Paul has the point here - its totally stupid that when you try to help a small nation in its fight with your superior ships, they become low end crap during the hand over. Eg. In one resent game I was trying to help Drengins to beat some other race, and I was giving them BattleShips that were around 50% better than the ships of their enemies, but when they received them, they were actually 25% below them. I definitely didn't want that :(.

I've been seeing 2 new problems with B2b: 1. Lot of AI ships have negative move points which result as infinitive moves. Eg. 1 ship wonders all around the space attacking my ships until it gets destroyed. 2. In lot of cases if my ship is in sentry state and its attacked, game hangs so badly that I have to hard boot it from reset switch (on Windows XP). I've sent a save game to Cari about this.
If your save games are from Beta 1, they don't work. But Beta 2 save games work just fine for me.
I have newest drivers from SoundBlaster.com installed, so it cannot be that (I actully just reinstalled them last weekend, because I was starting to think that too). And Galciv is the only program having trouble with the sound card.
IMO the score shown when you click your name includes all submitted scores, even the ones that got submitted before the need of the registration.
+ & - really have effect on the music volume (didn't know that before). Unfortenately they also make the beeps&clicks just louder or more quiet. So no help from that.
I just got it reinstalled and the same problem remains. Actually I noticed this time that at least some of the musics are playing just OK, but those beeps&clicks just hide them behind (music is played very quietly and these beeps&clicks come up very loudly).
Music works fine when I return from game back to main menu. I'm now trying fresh install of galciv. I'll let you know later how it goes.
I had the same problem.
Permanent crashes (and too little time to restart all the time) :(.
Cari, I Just sent you the save game.
I noticed the same problem with espionage and destabilisation.
Your last conclusion seems to be in right track, but I really don't know what could be causing it. Maybe this is just something in my installation, since nobody else has reported it.
I already sent it to Brad, but I can sent it to you too in the evening.
I always start with 100% spent rate and set the tax rate to such that my balance is around 0 (~35-45% tax rate). Then when I start to go negative, I first drop the spect rate, but if I get to positive I'll lower the tax rate (usually in mid game I have tax rate of 25-35% and spent rate of 60-90%, if I'm not in major wars). I usually build first the Fusion Power Plant, then soil enchament, then depending on morale of the planet either Entertainment Centre or something else.
I've been playing one very lengthy game on medium size galaxy (almost completed the tech tree). The longer it goes, the more unstable it is becoming and now finally I'm in a situation that it crashes always after I hit turn (a invasion against my planet halts goes to some loop from which I can only recover by hitting reset). Problems started in following order: 1st I noticed that it started halting, when I got lot of social projects finished (its just stuck and I need to exit to des
Still one more thing that I just remembered and retested: Music works fine in main menu, but it never works in the game.
And I forgot to mention in previous message, that my problem is on right from the beginning.
Yep - MP3 files are located under music, and they work just fine.
I have directX 8.1 and according to diagnostics its working just fine. And so far galciv has been only program showing this problem.
I'm all time having trouble remembering, which logo and ships belongs to Drenging Empire and which to Arcean Imperium as they both have yellowish look. Could you make Drengin Empire look more red? Other thing is that it is very hard to know which of those small freighter belong to who. Like human and altarian colors are very close in such small icons and at least I haven't found out any other way to know who they belong.
I'm having problems with the music on XP with Sound Blaster Live. Sound effects work just fine, but music is just beeps, clicks, krääks, and so on (sounds very awful). When I play those MP3 files with Winamp, they work just fine, but they don't work in Galciv. Is anybody else having this problem? And if I remember correctly this problem has been on with all betas.
I have to agree with you fully - this beta 1Z is the first version that is really starting to feel like a strategy game. Keep up the good work.
I finally managed to download it with Finnish time settings in XP. To get it work I had to do following: 1. Get the latest DGM test build from threat " DGM Updated - 0.66.083" 2. Cleaned up "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\drengin" 3. Started DGM. 4. Started to update Galciv ==> got error about "coreship.shi_" 5. Again cleaned up "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\drengin" 6. Started DGM. 7. Started to update Galciv
All AIs tend to "clean up" their planets when ever they go to war. Eg. they have planet with 5000 million people amd they want to invade planets with 100 and 200 million people, they always send 2 transports with almost 2500 million people leaving their own planets with less than 100 million. As the transports are easy to kill, they ruing their empire with this one stupid attack. This is with AIs set to 40-75%.
