Farms do only one thing, that is raise the population cap. There isn't a "food" commodity in any way. Maybe it would be nice if the whole food thing was a little more involved, but it is what it is. I guess the game designers didn't feel farming was something worth getting into that heavily. I would tend to agree.

Hehe, the low scoring guys can leave if they want Anyway, thanks for the invite, Megablob. If this empire does dissipate, I'll take you up on your offer. I've often read posts of yours that are in agreement with my opinions so we would have that in common. Probably be a good place for me if I need one. - Craig
Hmm, haven't seen the Drath aligned with Neutral in any of my games. Is there a random element there? Maybe I'm missing something.
Metaverse allows you to resubmit once, so play your game out and see if it scores better. If you like it, you can post it again and the game will update. Be sure before you post it again because you can only update one time. I'm pretty amazed when people can finish a gigantic, abundant game in that short of a time. I'm still trying to figure out how to get my 1.3 games to run under 10 years. I had my 1.2 games down to 7 or 8.
One thing I've found that helps stabilize the game is to restart it every few hours. It seems to consume memory over time, especially after an invasion. Shutting down and restarting the game resets it in the computer's memory and keeps it running well.
Best thing to do is use a filter that replaces inappropriate words with something appropriate. Most public forums use one.
They'll gang up on you if they're not afraid of you, especially if you don't share alignment. Good always gangs-up on Evil. That's why I haven't been playing with the Torians. They tend to instigate the gang-ups and with all the races, it's 4 good against 3 evil. When you play as an evil race (which I have been lately), it's 4 against 2. Playing a good race will balance the game nicely with all the races. And, with good alignment, you'll be friends with the "good gang" right out of the gat
I'm not throwing in any towel. Look at my profile. I just posted a healthy score. It *is* lower in magnitude and difficulty than I was achieving with 1.2, but it's not a bad score at all.
Agree, alliances are screwy. They need work.
I just finished a game on gigantic pushing 400 habitable planets. Man, that was a handfull. And, I still have too more levels of planet abundancy I can move up to. Hehe, my computer was chugging toward the end. It's really going to hate me when I eventually try a game with everything maxed out. I haven't experienced a big difference in scores between Suicidal and Masochistic. I think it makes more of a difference when comparing lower difficulties, but the higher ones seem to run fa
Yea, for all the complaining we do, Brad, don't let that lead you to believe we don't think this game is awesome and your group are anything short of awesome. The online support and regular updates are wonderful. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK, we love you Stardock. - Craig
And how is the economy nerfed in this patch? The obvious thing is that approval is much harder to come by with a drastic reduction in the bonus provided by approval buildings. Populations were also reduced lowering the tax revenue a single farm will provide. As a result, taxes have to be run lower for longer and revenues top-out sooner. There's a
My feeling is that alliances are something that has been screwed up in this game since day 1. The recent update didn't do anything to solve the problem. I agreee it shouldn't be easy to form alliances and they should require a "close" relationship. OTOH, it should be possible, through something done on the player's part, to actually form a close relationship. For instance, when a friendly race says they're improving relations, they should do what they say and move relations to close. They d
Hehe, Norton Antivirus is an example of the cure being worse than the disease. Try ClamWin WWW Link . I don't use Stardock Central, I just download the updates from the downloads section here. Never been asked to reboot.
Yea, hehe, this game's all about the money. Pretty much everything you do has some impact on your economy. I think it's good that way, you actually have to think about what you're doing.
I don't have any problem with the minors. Minor races can appear in the game as it progresses. There's a random element there. Either way, it's not a big deal because as the name implies, they usually don't have a big impact on the course of a game. Just like many random elements, the advantage of selling techs to minors early may or may not be available. Personally, I've found I'm usually on the short end when it comes to trading techs. Even if basic techs do command too much cash
Playing as neutral, I can get 12 total routes with the Neutral Shipping tech. Many times, I've set up all 12 routes with a friendly race of similar alignment and have failed to see relations move to close. OTOH, I've seen races move to close without doing anything at all on my part. As a player, you have no control over alliances. People stating otherwise are incorrect. My gripe about changes to alliances in 1.3 is not that they are "too hard", it's that they are no longer somethi
Yea, 1.3 is brutal in the scoring department. The thing is, if 1.3 was all about "balancing" the game, then they should have "balanced" the scores as well. As it stands, using 1.2 offeres a HUGE advantage in the Metaverse. That doesn't sound very balanced to me.
Updates are done twice a day so when you post a score, it can take a while for the rankings to update. Check it again tomorrow, it should be correct.
I ran into an ugly situation with the upgrade governor regarding NLC's. Problem with the NLC is that is costs twice as much to build as the discovery sphere and only provides an improvement of around 25%. I prefer the discovery sphere. The NLC *should* provide that bonus with the same cost, otherwise, what's the point? I think that belongs in the "worthless things in this game" thread. I got really screwed in a game where I had a lot of planets and was upgrading from researc
Master U's scores came to the devs' attention, and manual review of the game data (yes, more than just your score gets uploaded) showed that those games with disproportionately high scores (200k-300k on a medium crippling?) were played with impossibly high racial/empire bonuses. Thanks for the explanation. If it were me and I was guilty of
Minor races = cannon fodder
Alliance victories went from being very easy in 1.2 to very hard in 1.3. You can win an alliance victory easily if you wipe out all the races that won't ally with you, but that would involve an element of military conquest. To win an alliance victory playing all 9 races without using any conquest would very difficult if not impossible. Even if you have a much bigger military and set up all your trade routes with a race, they may or may not form close relations. There's a random element there
Do SOMETHING with alliances, anything, couldn't be worse than they are now.
I'm in agreement with Lord Reaper's post. 1.3 was not quite what I had expected. I was hoping to see bug fixes and new content. What we got was a whole new game. If they felt the game needed an "adjustment" they should have done it gradually. What they did was a shock. It messed with the scoring system too. 1.3 scores are quite a bit lower. That's ghastly all of MU's scores where flagged. I've looked at those scores and did not see anything screwy there. Did someone actually go
