I've a somewhat related question: Most logos have some kind of 'glass' or 'plastic' effect applied to them, and I'd like to know which effect that is and what program can apply it. PS: It'd seem the new smiley logos in the Library have the same effect. I would imagine this is doable in most image editors such as, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro etc. You might even be able to do it in The Gimp , which has the advantage

if i can slip a question in here if you mod the custom planets does that mean that all custom ai's get the same planet i would assume that the answer is yes Presuming you mean in DA, I would like to add to Terraner's answer that in the CustomRaceXML of your race in the My Docs\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar directory, the "Homestar" tag co-incides with the "StarStystem Name" tag in CustomPlanets.xml . So, in theory, if you change th

To mod all you need is a text editor like Notepad. If you want to know how check out The Modding guide or the Tutorials on TBS Modder.

If I do it this, way, will these textures override any previous textures, ie: original and LS's high-res mod? No they won't, they will be stored as a separate mod, but in-game they will. Although, if you do it this way, they will not be able to be used in conjunction with LS's mod unless the mods are merged.

Create a folder in the GalCiv2\Mods folder. In that folder, copy ModDescription.xml from the Mods\Default folder and open it in Notepad. Where it says "This is a generic mods folder for casual mods.", replace that with the name of your mod. Then in Mods\YourModFolder, create a "Gfx" folder. In this, create another folder called "Space". In this put your nebula textures. That should do it .

Looking at StarTypes.xml, I'm sorry to say I don't think this would be possible. I think it's hardcoded into the galaxy setup code, which is unmoddable. You could do this on a custom map, but I don't think that's what you're looking for.

If you like a laugh, consider the Hitchhiker's of the Galaxy. Despite being and empire of only two, we have ambition and a sense of humour . It is based on the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, but the knowledge of what it is is not necessary. Good luck in your empire-hunting . <img src="http://w

I won't be updating the NAU mod for DA as the ability to build 'obsolete' improvements is already in DA, as many have said.

Artificial planets... does that mean they can have a population and such Unfortunately not, due to the restraints of GC2 modability, they are merely more expensive and more powerful Econ Starbases that look like planets. also, how'd you mod the SB's appearance? i don't remember seeing that in any of the modding guides i've seen. if nothing else, i can just poke around the files when i get home.</

what do artificial planets do exactly? They are effectively more expensive and more powerful Econ Starbases that look like planets . It was the most I could do with GC2s modability. <img src="http://altmeta2.thegalacticcore.com/ranksig.php?id=8917&

Taken from The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxya mod, this mod adds a new class of Starbase: Artificial Planets! Starbases and artificial planets now have to be researched, so you can't build them straight away. The mod can either be downloaded from the Library or from the TBS Modder Mod DB . Enjoy! <a href="http://altmeta2.thegalacticcore.com
