I have a game going right now where the Jagged Knife appeared and two turnsl later achieved ascendancy. It did not end the game as it would with a "Major" race, but I got a dialog box announcing the achievment and also adding that my race would never achieve it. They already had all the good techs because they get all of the techs of the races in the game upon appearing (I believe that's the case anyway) and the Dread Lords were already in the game. I'm just now stamping them and the Dread L

Yeah, that is definitely working as intended. One just has to play through it, which can take hundreds of turns sometimes. There are also tactics through which one can lure away the pirate or Peacekeeper ships long enough to build a fleet of ships that can actually fight them. I usually use a fast freighter or something similar to draw them out of my space and then try to put together a fleet large and powerful enough to take them on. This often requires a research rush in key tech areas (we
I would like a menu option ability to turn off galactic events a la carte. I like the events in general, but there are just a couple I can't stand. One of those is the unlimited range event, but there are one or two others. I agree that the AI needs to do a better job of defending its own starbases by taking advantage of the defense modules. Right now, the Arceans seem a bit underpowered and//or the AI is not utilizing their assets well. I've yet to see them perform well in
You may be on to something here. I looked closely at what is listed in the invasion techs in the Terran tech tree and none of them appear to list mini-soldier's either, but Terrans do have access to that application because I've used it-a lot. My guess is that this is simply a misprint, i.e., that mini soldier's should be indicated as being unlocked by one of the techs in the Terran tech tree and it was just overlooked. I'm speculating of course.
This bug is caused by a variety of events tied to auto-ship movement and attack. The game becomes stuck and does not fully process the turn change because it cannot resolve the movement of a particular ship or fleet. For example, in one of my reports the problem was caused by a Drengin scout ship attempting to move 'through' a planet. Instead of going around, it just became stuck. The screen view remained fixed on it and could not be pulled away. I reported this to the developers. I was ab
I provided what I believe is the reasoning behind this in the thread referred to above but will try again. For TA, the tech tree was radically overhauled. Tech applications, such as the mini-soldiers invasion tactic, that were previously associated with one researched tech (like shock troops) may no longer be associated with that tech in the new tech tree. With Mini-Soldiers, this is the case. It is no longer strictly married to the Shock troops tech and for some races has been reassigned to
I think I've found out what's causing this. At the end of the colony rush, I set the remaining colony ships on auto explore. After a while the turn button disappeared. By chance I selected one of the colony ships and noticed it had turns left and was trying to go straight through a planet. After moving the Colony ship manually the turn button reappeared and worked happily ever after since.
Yes. I've had similar experiences. Clicking on the afflicted ship often caus
I reported this problem to the Devs earlier today and am happy to report that what was causing my stuck turn change/turn button problem in that particular game has been addressed. That being said, the source of your problems may be different. I suggest that each of you report your particular problem by sending a compressed save game exhibiting the bug to with a full description of what was occurring.
This problem seems to be more under control in Beta 3B. I've not had a crash yet, but had a different problem that froze the game. That is reported in another thread.
I was just playing a game in Beta 3B as the Yor (Large map, all other races, average difficulty, disabled tech trading) when the following happened : The Drengin decalred war on the Iconians, who surrendered next turn, then the Korath declared war on the Arcean, who surrendered next turn. Both only lost a single small (size 6) world, were equally large and had strong militaries. Two turns later the Krynn surrendered to the Drengin, again after losing one planet. [/qu
I don't think that's accurate for the TA Betas. For example, the Terrans no longer have shock troops in their tech tree either, but I've used mini soldiers in every game I've played since the first version of the beta. The invasion tech applications, among others, were reassigned to different techs. I believe the terrans get mini soldiers with space marines now.
I've played 2 immense galaxies now and this happens to me as well. In my sceneario the game locks on one planet and will not allow me to move around the map. I can zoom in and out, click on the planet and enter the planet screen and go to various planets from there. But when I leave that screen, I'm still stuck on the original planet it locked on.
I've had this problem as well, or something similar-the game seems to freeze up on turn changes. I can still use the mouse a
New weapons effects are great as well.
This is strange because in all of my TA Beta games in which the Yor, Drengin and Korath are present, I've seen each of them build mining bases on galactic resource and asteroid bases. I can only assume they have the techs or are getting them from somewhere. If they are getting them from another AI, then they are able to consistently do so because I see those bases in every game.
I've seen the rather oversized Torian defenders as well. Seems kind of odd. Drengin Super Dominator corvettes also still invisilbe in TA Beta 3A.
The AI is still getting access to advanced techs in Beta 3A. I've noted the Korath having invulnerability fields and hyperwarp III engines, the Torians having Warp IV drive and the Drengin having Droid Sentries far too early in the game for those civilizations (or any other unless it's the Dread Lords) to have legitimately developed them. I've seen this one reported in other threads but do not see it showing up on the list of reported bugs so I wanted to report it again in its own sepa
I have downloaded TA 3A but have not yet upgraded a ship. I will report more when I do, but for now I can say that my situation does not involve using any shortcuts to choose ethical alignment etc. I play the game as normal. As I said above, this one might be difficult to reproduce because the crash seems to happen only once a game for me. Once I reload from that crash, the blank component thumbnails are gone and the crash does not occur on again on that reload. That being said, I do seem t
I just noticed there was a new version posted on Stardock today. I will download and see if this continues to occur.
I thought the Super Dominator ability had to do with extorting other races of their money etc? Didn't know it had anything to do with extra ships (although the Super Dominator corvette type seems to support that assertion.)
I've tried to pin down exactly where they are getting these high end technologies but i think they might just be pulling it from the ether.
I think it has to do with improper linkage in the tech tree, i.e., they can skip over all other techs and go straight to those advanced techs. This was a known problem in other areas of the tech tree previously.
Don't know if this is by design, but the Disruptor weapon has no animation, i.e., when I see the Korath ships with disruptors, I hear them firing but see no "beam." It's invisible. It does damage and one can even see it glance off of shield systems, but the beam itself is invisible.
Yeah, we're not able to reproduce this one over here A smart exception log or a debug.err would help us stomp-out this CTD Thanks Paul!
I've had this
Believe me, it is quite possible to get them to trade those techs. Perhaps a more accurate way of stating my intended meaning is to say that I've never been able to get them to trade those techs (even playing as Terrans with their diplomatic bonus and offering every planet I own plus all cash, ships, and technology-just to see if they would do it). Moot point anyway, I've now started seeing their ships showing up with the Hyperwarp engines a
I've seen this one as well as seeing the Korath with Hypwewarp III about 50 or so turns into the game. I've seen the Torians with Warp Drive IV a similar number of turns. If it's not a bug, it should be. Of course my paranoid side says this is a new "feature" of the espionage system, i.e., when you don't have sufficient espionage information you will get an innacurate list of techs on the screen for that race. I've noticed that these races will NEVER trade these techs no matter how
The turn button goes away from time to time, effectively freezing the game.
I've had this happen from time to time since Dread Lords. I've noticed in TA that when this occurs the screen will often change focus on a particular ship of mine that was under movement orders. When I right click on that ship and cancel the orders the turn will process normally.
