I agree that the tone of this discussion did get a little "dark" and I'm as much at fault for this as anyone else and that's why included that little bit at the end of my reply above saying that if the request was legitimate in a search for a freeware alternative then I was wrong for assuming otherwise. The title of the post is what threw me for a loop, "not paying $20", I assumed (assuming made an a$$ out of me on more than one occasion) after reading the title that the user was looking for a

what I find interesting is how brave people are getting, that they actually login with an account, and post a message in a discussion forum at the same website where the software can be purchased asking how to obtain it for "free" - maybe I'm wrong in assuming that "something similar, that's free" means pirated software, if the request is legitimate and is asking for a freeware alternative then my bad, I shouldn't jump to conclusions.

As per Sir Bichur (heavy on the "Sir" ) I think your problem is related to some missing files, why would you have an incomplete set of wb files? I wonder if this happens when the wb trial expires, it deletes a few of the critical files required for wb skins to appear properly? Cavan I will definitely try that out, I never thought about doing that - I learn something new everyday in these forums. <

oversized start buttons in wb skins require wb5 or better if I'm not mistaken, verify that you are using the correct version of windowblinds (v5 or higher). Also, I have noticed on wb skins using oversized start buttons (vista globe logo for example), that sometimes resizing the taskbar up & down will refresh the start button and make it appear properly. a really good piece of freeware that someone pointed out to me a very long time ago (Cavan ) is IrFanView. Download & install it, open up your image with irfanview, click on image from the top menu, click on resize/resample, select the standard 640x480 size and click on ok. try using another browser to see if the problem isn't with ie7 somehow stopping the images from being displayed. Try flock, firefox, opera, avant, etc and let us know how it works. If you can view the images on the site with one of the other browsers you know that you will have to tweak some settings in ie7 to display images. Strange how you're not able to view any images. Is this the only site where that kind of problem happens?

I wish I knew what the secret was, I would stop immediately as it's quite annoying to see my comments posted twice, the problem is associated with my user account and not my pc. I've tested this out on several pc's at home, work & other people's machines, same effect. Still it's too bad I can't read comments 71-75 but at least it's not just me, they're not visible to anyone else either, maybe they were deleted. Thanks to everyone for the followup on this, I appreciate.

well you could create a folder inside the same folder where all the other bootskins are located, move the ones that you don't want to use into this folder and leave the 10 bootskins you do want to use as is in the original folders, select random bootscreen at startup and voila, you've manually recreated the same function that have with logonxp. Yes this is a very manual solution but sometimes when the software at hand doesn't provide the functionality you need, you have to find a way of

Some comments are not visible on my skin page in WinCustomize Site Issues WinCustomize Forums

https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?skinid=5949&libid=1&p=3 I've included the link above, I can see that there are 76 comments (as of 7:11pm CST today) for my skin, but I can only view comments 1 - 70 and #76, the skin page above (at least for me) won't display comments 71 - 75. Can someone else see those comments, I can't and i've tried other browsers and another pc. I would love to read them but they aren't being displayed when I attempt to view them. No

sign out/log off the website (upper left hand corner of this page you will see your userid and the "sign out" link). Click on tools, internet options, clear out your history, cookies, temporary internet files, etc. Close & restart internet explorer, go to the wincustomize site, try downloading the bootskin in question, if it won't let you, login to the site using your wincustomize userid & password and then try downloading the file. If that don't work, you got me - I wouldn't know what else to

the access level issue may be a problem related with rating a skin, the download button & the ratings area are close together and sometimes when I attempt to download a skin the rating screen comes up instead. Try downloading Al's bootskin again but slowly move your cursor up from below the download button, when the download button gets hilighted (bright red), then you can click on it and it should download. Al's bootskins are pretty slick (he pretty much owns the bootskin category right now)

Hi Zubaz, she is referring to the links to other skins that I included with my skin description, I'm getting the same problem too, the links aren't working, from what I can tell the addresses are correctly entered. You should be able to unzip the zip file you've downloaded and double click on the .wba file that is inside the zip file, this should automatically add it to your windowblinds list of skins, you can then go into wb config and apply the skin from the list.

I only recently started using vista myself on another machine (not my main one) and I actually like the default look alot, I may get tired of it in the future but right now I think it's pretty slick. WB skinning for vista hasn't been that difficult, the only thing I do differently now is stop using "magic pink" when creating images with transparency. I just import the png's as is and allow skinstudio to create the tga files as necessary and adjust with the transparency & translucenc
