I love how you pretty much ignore what anyone else says and just keep rambling on. You bore me.
Gama rays cannot be stopped by anything short of thick lead.
Durrrr... (PS: Beta particles penetrate a hell of a lot further than a 'thin sheet of tin foil'.) I suggest you also figure out why the "take a shower" is recommended, but is NOT a 'treatment'.
most types of radation can be stopped by a thin layer of tin foil.
lol @ your "sighense".

It's 2008 and we're worried about the resource demands a little moving picture brings?

If we want to talk about how races should not go giving away their hard earned research which is granted to the because of how they think about the universe then only the Terrans would be able to go anywhere.
The thing that makes me most sympathetic to Loupindor's request re earlier factories is the Thalan super-ability, which still feels much less "super" with the new tech tree. At least in the early game--it is a big help later on when you finally get those pricy industry facilities. Quite, Thalans used to be the aggressive starting race, now they build up slow. Not that I mind
I would like to have the ability to reopen these news windows (or just the one news window as is being suggested here) after closing them. I support the core idea of the OP, this related request, and Mumblefratz's reminder that trash talk is no way to encourage constructive attention from the devs. I'm sure history is littered with good ideas we'll never know about because the person who had them irritated TPTB rather than in

Honestly if you just rush both Trade and Interstellar Republics, your diplomacy skill will be such that races you don't really even talk to will just melt in your arms.
Hi, Uranium you're absolutely right, a new way of presenting all that information would help a lot. I've been playing around a lot with the immense galaxies in the betas, and about halfway through it's just too much to read and I just click it away, which sometimes causes me to miss something important. I also hate the Tech Discovery Robot <img id="ImageResize_Image_18" onload="ImageResizer.createOn(this);" src="http://images.stardock.com/smiles/Ew.
Speaking of, you never actually explained how the Altarian tech tree is so widdle and weak compared to the Drath, even though the only difference is that they lost War Profiteering, but gained like 5 unique techs.
My issue with tight clusters has always been that you get like 3 total clusters and you end up sharing that space with like 3 other civs... and your all close enough to hate each other because of influence... I'd love a setting like "Small Tight Clusters" where each group could get a few tight clusters of planets, where invasions actually require you travel a ways. Sadly I don't think we'll get it. The A.I already has enough issues waging wars in Tight Cluste
I just can't agree or even begin to stand your point of view on this on those grounds. I'm afraid that your point seems a bit childish. You seem to be saying that 'your way of winning is not in my playbook so it must be cheating.'
Uh, actually, you said that, not me.
No offense but you're beginning to sound like the "FPS PROS" where the key to success is literally abusing bugs, glitches, and design; when confronted with these accusations, their replies are disturbingly similar to yours: "Well anyone can do it, don't nerf things, make things better." The whole "NERFING IS ALWAYS BAD OMG" standpoint is both asinine and has zero place in a game beta as well. Look at World of Warcraft. Something could be ridiculously broken, but whoever plays that class
One way around that might be to use the base cost of the tech instead of the actual time, but then again, I'm not really for creativity making BHEs more easy to achieve than, say, warp drive.
Yeah, I was implying the base time, not how much time you have left. And it's opposite what you're thinking. Creativity is cheap and easy, and the amount of power it gives you at end-game techs outweighs the entry-level techs. I'm not saying it should be obsolete, but having
I just wanted the TA Thalans to be good at -something-.
There hasn't even been a balance patch since they were implemented. This isn't the release candidate. I mean, jeez, problems with what is the first release of a product in a beta? :O
Now im sorry your fun with this game depends on the usefullness on a single tech, but the other 99.9% that can get over that would like to avoid being flammed for practically no reason. In the mean time could you try not being so rude?
Did you just say that? Did you just REALLY say that? Hah! No. That you had the gall to write what you did and then ask me to "not be rude" was insult enough for me to just decide you're just one of those morons who is mostly illite
lawltastic! Why can't some people accept that if they scale the number of planets on immense to what it should logically be with everthing set on normal that they will still be able to play a galaxy with a lot of empty space. Granted they will have to change a few options as default will no longer have large areas of empty space anymore....some space, yes....as much as right now, no.
Uh, hey, go back and read my first post on this
This is... weird. I don't even know what I did, but suddenly, the Altarians have zero techs. They have their tech tree, but they start with nothing, and they're missing their planetary improvements, they can only build a social matrix. They're missing the "industrial revolution" tech or whatever it is that gives them factories, and I have to manually research 'Hyperfusion' and 'History of Benevolence' How curious!
If a neighboring empire has a better technology than I do, of course I want it!
Uh, yeah, and you can't always get it. The United States has nuclear weapons, guess how many countries want those? What about F-22s, AIM-120s, even supercarriers? Our space program? In GC2, you just hurl money at a minor race, and you can have whatever you want. Damn near any technology the AI has can be acquired, no matter how ridiculously valuable it is. Weather control centers? If
I have to question why you would even ask that question unless you were trying to be deliberately provocative. All his posts are deliberately provocative unfortunately. Which is a shame since the discussion on these boards is usually good natured. Best avoided.
I'm sorry I'm ruining your forums. Now would you like me to show you the door or do yo
If it's already been changed (being changed?) so that you actually have to have research production for it to proc, then why take the tech victory techs off of the table? Because winning the game with a tech victory based of your creative ability is cheezy.
<br
In many of my games though, colonizable planets is NOT the only thing that matters to me. As I alluded to, in this case colonizeable planets IS the only measurement that matters.
That's ridiculous. You're suggesting that there's no difference between a tiny galaxy with 50 worlds shoved in it and an immense one? Engine techs, sensor techs, life support techs, weekly maintenence, starbases, all deal wit
This would create other problems, it would make Creativity the main source of high tech. If you have 45 weeks to research a weapon the races with high creativity will get it sooner then the rest, indeed they may well get most of their longest techs this way. So you would need to either change or remove creativity.
Creativity is broken anyway - you can tech your way to a victory without having a single dime spent on it. At 'very slow', it used to take a hundred weeks for t
