Exactly, I am talking about a the PIRATES DEFAULTING to attack me when NO BOUNTY EXISTS. I thought when the bounty was equal, it was suppose to be random but it seems it just keeps hitting me. And, the teams are locked, its a FFA.
Matthew is right about the defaulting-to being semirandom. I've had it default to attack me twice in a row, and sometimes after a pirate raid, it'll switch to another play

OH man, get rid of that horrible black backgrounding and then we'll talk. Also your formatting blew up, making it even more unreadable.
Oh, but that is ALSO true... a ruleset shouldn't dictate to me how my optimal choices of a strategy can influence my performance as it compares to some AI opponents.
Yeah, curse those games with rules! Being constrained into chosing just one of a number of sets of rules and options is terrible, nobody likes that! Well, nobody except everyone who has ever played an RPG or an MMO, or an RTS with unique sides like Starcraft or Si

I think what you're talking about are the pirates defaulting to attack you when no bounty exists, right? Well one, yes, it seems it ALWAYS defaults to me, not another AI. But on the other hand, if the pirates aren't attacking them, why would they spend money on it to make them attack someone else?
More brainstorming - What if Strikecraft could only replace partial losses by docking at a carrier and waiting for repairs (albeit brief ones)? What if instead of single ships, hosts had to build the entire squadron? I imagine there'd be some reduction in build times with this, but just an idea, to avoid the inexorable tide of fighters you have now, where they get replaced one-by-one faster than you can destroy them...
Really? I have the problem of my fleets routinely all engaging the same target. It really pisses me off, TBH. I can't find a way to surpress that behavior.
Personally, I feel that it is a good balence. Anti-fighter frigates won't slaughter strikcraft on tghe first pass, but will take chuncks out of them on each pass, and unless your opponent has over 100 squadrons, only about 20 frgates are needed.
Problem is, as I've been saying, just a moderate expenditure of resources on carriers can field a devastating number of bombers. No other unit in the game can inflict the kind of u
speaking of which, i dont kno why we dont give the light carriers the FF weapons... i find that they usually fly into a combat zone anyway so might as well make them useful... however... look at the tech nowadays, if you want to shoot down a fighter jet, they rarely use guns, its more missiles etc (and soon lasers probably) the only time guns are used are the huge 20mm orelikon rotary guns that they mount on naval cruisers and carr
Eh, strikecraft really are extremely imbalanced when used en masse. I'm not sure about that. They are certainly POWERFUL when used en masse. But imbalanced? Not sure. Name something that isn't powerful when used en masse. LRFs? Yup - powerful en masse. Heavy cruisers? Yup - powerful en masse. Everything is powerful when used en masse, especially when focus-fir
Don't the Torians have a line of tech's that give them +% research abilities? Indeed. +45% total if memory serves, and about +30% that is actually worth getting if you're not going for a tech victory. Torians are supposed to be poor researchers, hence their weak +Research% bonuses. Probably was meant to be "hence their weak research buildings with +Research% bonuses." Which
"Unnoticable" huh?
Perhaps a solution, on top of beefing up basic anti-fighter frigates, would be to have anti-strikecraft Cruisers? TEC - Kaminov Heavy Flak Cruiser - The Kaminov's primary weapon are explosive shells that are proximity detonated. The explosive turns the heavy casing into lethal shrapnel, ripping through lightly armored targets. Very effective against groups. - Ability Upgrade: Box Barrage - Cruiser can target an area of space, and will concentrate all
Repost: Eh, strikecraft really are extremely imbalanced when used en masse. I always like ot have a fleet primarially composed of two heavy carriers and a dozen or so light carriers, with a ratio of 1:3 fighters / bombers. When playing as Vasari, my bombers can destroy any capital ship in two passes. Nothing short of fifty plus anti-fighter frigates will even stand a chance of stopping this onslaught, an
Call her a bitch noob and show her your uber micro. Guaranteed lovin'.
Someone suggested on page one that you could only trade techs you yourself can research. Good luck. I barked up that tree non-stop leading up to TOTA and it never went anywhere. Tech brokering is a good start, but for those of us who want truely unique races, that was really the only option I foresaw working the best. And I STILL believe that. First of all, the research tree describes the potential knowledge of your civilization. This means that due to some sort of uni
Yeah I'm really not seeing why carriers should have 2000 health, 1000 sheilds, and 4-5 armor with just some basic upgrades. Whose bright idea was that?
Seriously, I think maybe MAYBE half the time I activate the phase stabilizer it doesn't work. Even though the planet says 'Phase Node Active' or whatever, my ships refuse to jump in. Or even better, I tell them to move to it, the 'move to' blue line appears linking directly to it, meaning it RECOGNIZES the phase stabilizer, but then they all jump to the nearest planet with a regular phase stabilizer, as if it weren't working. Sometimes it works fine though. An
Entrenchment *IS* an expansion pack. Effectively, Ironclad chopped the 'full' expansion into three parts, priced at 1/3rd each. Frankly, the $10 Entrenchment expansion has more content already than most full $30 ones. It's honestly one of the best real deals I've seen. Think of it as 'episodic expansion', except unlike Valve, they're not ripping you off completely while wasting their time with a three year wait between each one :p
Actually I was wrong - sorry. Mipmapping takes MORE texture space (but not too much), but it takes less RENDERING time. A mipmapped texture contains the default (say 128x128) texture size, the 'full detail' one. Included on the very same texture file is a 64x64, 32x32, and 16x16, or what have you. Since it's one FILE, it needs to be slightly larger, since it contains four copies of the image - however since they're lower detail, generally the impact is somewhat negligible. Ultimately the fast
Speaking of, can't wait for Entrenchment to be released so I can play it with Sins Plus (once some wonderful person converts it over).
Thanks for sharing?
In regular Sins, I remember that 'empty' region (IE: Asteroid fields, magnetic clouds) were ignored for purposes of Trade / Refinery links. As of Entrenchment, this no longer seems to be the case.
