I thought this thread was going to be about DLC... As for the original topic, that's stupid. That's like bitching that a GAME DEMO is free, but is 'crippled' because it's not the full game. HOWEVER, Brad, there's one thing you need to consider, that some freeware IS 'crippleware'. I've seen 'freeware' versions that were missing major, critical features, like the ability to SAVE THE FILE. What the hell is up with that? That's just malicious. Why

While it’s great that the PC doesn’t have to suffer quite the same degree of standardisation as its locked-down console brethren, we have nevertheless fallen into certain patterns of how
Everyone knows that if your political party loses the election, you're supposed to be penalized. You lose your political bonuses, and you also lose a little more on top of that. However, when looking through the .XML files, I noticed something interesting. The Technologists have +20 Research and +1 Sensors. When they lose the election, they lose the research and sensors bonus. [Bonus]8:20 14:1[/Bonus] [Penalty]8:-20 14:-1[/Penalty] Looks great. How
They blow up stars, not planets. Adjust your aim, and try again :)
Whhaaaaaattt, no ObjectDock? That's a freaking cop-out. $70 for 'Ultimate' OBJECT Desktop couldn't include OBJECT dock?
My modified file is located at: D:\GalCiv2\Twilight\Mods\GalCivAdvanced\Data\PlanetImprovements\PlanetImprovements.xml However, whenever I run the mod, I have double-stuffed building lists - the original PlanetImprovements.xml is alongside the modified one. The 'modified' one is a complete copy of the original. If I change the name of Research Labs to 'Crappy Lab', I'll have Research Labs AND Crappy Lab available to me - as well as doubles of every building. Is there a bu
The PQ bonus was a big one for me - 10% is worthless, I suppose the 20% is rather balanced (8 points?). 10% is technically fair, but it just doesn't work in practice.
For an idea at what I'm try to do, here's some basics. First, and something I think that should've been in the game from Day 1, every ability has 'flawed' choices. Economics 'Corrupt' -1 Point -10% Economy. This will allow Custom Races a little more flexibility. I'd like to bring points to be equal overall, not worth 'more' depending on the ability they're used in. Since I've no limit on options, every ability has some cheap 'starters' (Economics 1 = 1 point, 5% bonus), but th
I'm hearing that Loyalty is worthless, as it's broken - confirm/deny?
Which bonuses do you think are too useful, or aren't even worth a laugh? What are your favorites? Personally I think Creativity, Luck, and Speed are the most used, and therefore the most powerful - Creativity because for one point you can signficiantly increase research (more than the research ability), Luck because of the 'tie exploit', and Speed because - well - it saves you the most hull space more than anything else. Speed +2 is without a doubt mroe powerful than anything else, wo
God I hate these forums. Wonder if they'll ever fix the edit problem...
Aquatic World Colonization Aquatic World Colonization 1000 Allows us to partially colonize oceanic worlds. By stimulating volcanic activity on the ocean floor, we can bring forth small islands above the water. <br/
That's an additional bonus, not a conflict. You still get aquatic world colonization from techtree.xml Aquatic World Colonization Aquatic World Colonization 1000 Allows us to partially colonize oceanic worlds. By stimulating volcanic activity on the ocean floor, we can bring forth small islands ab
Anything - any page I just click on cart from the first page and it'll dump to an error. Space Rangers 2, Object Desktop... maybe something with my account?
Hello? :NOTSURE:
The store is up, and working properly. True story. Cart software shit the bed. Been down for several hours.
So, are anti-piracy laws wrong, or will your no doubt righteous rage convince the authorities otherwise?
I also exceed the speed limit 90% of the time too, and my only justification for that is that I'm too god damn impatient to drive 45 mph. And some of the bufoons around here would have you believe that somehow, piracy is worse than speeding.
^ ^ I'm not going to say piracy is right, but I won't say it's absolutely wrong either. I'm currently vacati- err, DEPLOYED to Guam, and I couldn't bring along a lot of games. Furthermore, even at my home station, I don't even have all the games I own in hard-copies. My BG2 CD2 disappeared ages ago, making the game unplayable (well, uninstallable). I left my CD copy of Deus Ex, Total Annihilation, at home in San Diego, and so on. So in leiu of bringing fragile CDs aro
Good. People would be faced with the fact that their commiting a crime, and this will lower game prices by $5-10. I hope the 4th time (going online illegally) means jail. If it was up to me, thieves would go to prison. *sigh* Nice altrusim there. First of all, no matter what, game prices won't go down. Stardock is the only publisher that doesn't throw games out for

This is why god made cracks. You can try System Shock 2 I suppose, it has coop :p
Starcraft's campaign was mind-numbing to me. It was just "Huge AI base. Kill it" over and over. Build your base. Blow up zerg. Repeat. Hell even Command and Conquer which came out like 4 years prior had creative missions, and damn that game was HARD. "Here's a commando, and engineer, and two rocket troops. Go steal nukes."
My issue with the 'feature' is that, well, obviously getting one tech and watching EVERY tech explode through the roof by 2000 weeks was really quite unsettling, and I'm not sure I completely agree with increasing the costs of EVERYTHING. It feels very Oblivion-esque, with that god-awful level-scaling. I think I would've rather seen research itself follow an exponential curve, both production and on the tech tree. The tech tree costs follow a very linear trend, with a
And yet it's this type of attitude that's seems to have led to an insane blind consumerism in a country tanking to third world status with crippling debt, offshored economies and production, and the 'mainstream' population still seems completely oblivious to the cause and effect.
By the same token, how does producing excuses in lieu of results help ANYTHING? I can sympathize with a deadline crunch, but by the same token, I've been stuck with a game that has been unpla
That's possibly one of the stupidest things I've seen you post, and that's something when you're involved. Why would anyone start threads NOT complaining about things? How often do you go to a tech support board and see people whining "My computer works fine!" People who don't have a problem with the status quo, don't complain about it. That doesn't make their opinions less valid than a relative handful of highly vocal malcontents.
"Oh well the reason why you're wrong is
