Sorry guys, no beta this week. The Team has been doing some play-testing on the Sins Release Candidate, leaving GC2 with only a small handful of tweaks, which we'll roll into the next update. Ha ha, play testing . So it's fun?
<

I want research speed severely tweaked. "Very Slow" ends up feeling like "Very Fast". I have a rather small empire and only Xeno Labs, and my research is just SCREAMING along.

Tech trading itself has needed a fix forever but they'll never do it :/ You shouldn't be able to trade for any tech that isn't on your tech tree somewhere. Period. Tech trading itself shouldn't give you the tech either - I like the idea of it giving you parts of the research instead.

I'll keep it short because I want to get back to my game in progress. I've been moving techs around to make a tidy profit, and picking up a few unique techs in order to do so. The thing is, the techs I'm buying and then selling for ridiculous profits are completely worthless techs to anyone. For example, 'Unconventional Warfare', a Drengin tech, I can sell for a pretty hefty profit to every race. Unfortunately, unless you are the Drengin, this technology does NOTHING for you. Y

I've been playing on Tough, and here's how the game's gone so far. Immense - Common/Common planets, abundant loose stars. Random minor races. Tech trading on, blind exploration on, no surrenders, very slow research. Playing as Terrans with a few bonuses spread across economics, influence, morale, trade, and creativity. - I started by immediately going up the diplomatic tech tree and somewhat rushed to Interstellar Republic. At the same time, I slashed social funding to

Tough. Playing Terrans this last game with severely overhuge diplomacy, I tried to get an economic treaty from the struggling Drath, and they wouldn't accept unless I offered them every tech, every credit, and every planet I had. Drath were losing to the Drengin, and badly at the time as well.
I can't believe anyone would go to all that trouble just to name a ship. You'll spend more time figuring out what to name a ship, than actually playing the game.
Sorry we're not all as ADHD as you.
I think that creativity should take into account current research spending and time to completion. It should be commonplace to finish the last 10% of a tech early, but very rare to finish it before 50% is done.
What a lame idea, if you did that there'd be no point in taking Creativity, and just dump the point into +research as it'd likely work better overall. Finishing a tech with 2 weeks 'early' is like getting socks for Christma
It still strikes me as something that shouldn't happen, "aha!" middle-of-the-night inspirations aside. It's a stat that's always in effect and groundbreaking achievements dont happen every day, every month or every year. Why would there be research funding if I can just rely on the off-chance that I'll get it for free anyway and can just focus on other fundings.
It also takes nearly 5 years to build a battleship in real life. As for Creativity, I've had some game
I think starbases are strong enough currently (as someone pointed out earlier, they're supposed to be protected) but I think it should take about half as many contructors to build one. Either that or be able to build modules that allow you to dock ships in the base which defend it in the event of an attack, as long as they're medium hull size or smaller.
What the hell's the difference between parking a battleship on them, and giving t

Hmmm... oddly, I've found that my Earth morale is ridiculously low too, lower than I seem to remember civ capitals being. I played a lot of Drath and never had a problem keeping them happy. On Earth, still in early game, with multimedia centers up, even two of them, and still only 16B on Earth, Earth's morale floats around 30%. My overall approval is almost 70%. Seems a little weird to me.
It's not a bug - it's working as designed, if not exactly as intended. The resolution moves ships outside enemy influence when war's declared. This just happens to move minor civ ships away from their homeworlds when they're in someone else's influence.
Except, like I said, minor races are not part of the UP. Last I checked, Islamic Law doesn't apply to me because I'm not part of an Islamic country.

Just steamrolled a technology victory with Terrans. Built one warship, and sold it later to the Drath for some cash :D Besides, why should it scale at all, really? Isn't the entire point of more planets to have more resources to do things, like research? This kinda makes me want a 'game pace' setting instead. "Very Slow" paced games have slower population growths, fewer resources, shorter ranges and speeds for ships, etc.
I know one of the stated goals for TA was to "make everything bigger", but the sad reality is that the initial techs are useless given how fast research goes. I mean, I don't even bother using any of the first level weapon techs and by the time the second level techs are on a few ships it's almost time to wait for 4th tier weapons because they aren't far away. In other words, I rarely have a game where 1st and 3rd tier weapons are of any use/value because the

Just a comment, on immense galaxies with habitable planets at 'common' or more, tech research speeds just gets way too fast, even at 'very slow'. While this can be attributed to advanced research, naturally, I find late-game techs are about as fast as they were pre-patch at normal tech speeds...
