A Hekuva way to start a game: I switched my home planet to Korx III. First time out I get a 7X research tile on the homeworld and an 8x manufacturing on Korx. [e digicons]:D[/e] [e digicons]:D[/e] [e digicons]:D[/e]
Yeah the depreciation with successive games is a real b*tch.
At least it motivated me to break 400k. Part of the credit goes to jacklv for giving me the idea to turn the random events on. I got an econ boom AND an influence boom fairly early in the game. Sadly, the idiot Torian ambassador just HAD to visit that $&#( factory on one of my planets later and get whacked. It was a short war. My military rating was something like 250 vs 25. 500ish planets vs 8. 250+ infl
Snarkotamus, I see you reset Kang in preparation for +300k games, and submitted another one already. Excellent!
Unfortunately, the scoring depreciation is already F&$&()#ing me after the 2nd game. At least I broke 350k. Next game, I will attempt to completely wipe out all but 1 AI planet by the end of year 4. Maybe I can break 400k.
Would the Omega Defense system work well if it were on the same planet as the Spin Control Center?
I use it very early in the game to get a rapid boost in my rating. Usually with defenders and crappy weapons. If I understand the Military Scoring correctly, the earlier I start building up my forces, the better the eventual score. The ODS may not contribute much once I have advanced weaponry, but it sure motivates me to crap a planet full of ships in a hurry. Now
Also congrats to Snarkotamus for breaking the 300k mark for the first time today!
Thanks!!! I got the Spin Control Center, Doomsday Generator, and Omega Defense System earlier in the game this time around. I put the SCC and DDG on one planet, and the ODS on an adjacent planet. Then I filled them both up ASAP. It made a real difference in the military score.
Grats to Snarkotamus for his highest scoring game yet of just under 300k! Did you try using the Swindle or go for a more straightforard approach?
I'm using my "evolving hybrid ToA swindle". It is a twisted pepretration of ruthless diplomacy (usually 200+%), influence, war profiteering, and plain old-fashioned devious backstabbing. I still lack the patience to grind out a huge military score, so I am concentrating on improving the front-end scoring.
Back from inactivity
Welcome back! BTW, I just finished watching the B5 episode that your avatar comes from. My goal for the holidays: Watch them ALL back-to-back.
Rumors that the United Confederation of Planets had anything to do with Tex Neckerson bailing from the Gekodons to join the Glorious Kzinti Empire are completely unfounded. I just wanted to clear that up.
Congrats on your latest conquest Snarkotamus!
Thanks! I am starting to try my hand at the longer games. Hopefully, I will be able to bust the 500K barrier. I need to work on the military score and finish off the "suckers" a few years sooner, though. As general info, 9.5 Trillion citizens will get you a 134K Society Score in a 12 year game. I am currently trying to finish up sooner, so I do not know if I will be able to reach my goal of 10 Trillion.
So far, v2 is working great! The only suggestions I have relate to the minimization of mouse movement. It would be nice if there were keyboard shortcuts in the Colonies Tab of the Civilization Manager. It can be a tad hard on the wrist to rush-buy improvements on 100+ planets, especially when done several turns in a row. I would also be thrilled beyond measure if it were possible to select multiple planets and add a Planetary Goveror to all of them at once, and would very much like to
Klingons, hah, smelly unshowering beasts, much like Kzinti.
Which is exactly why we have the really hot groupies, and the "group hug" empires have zero, zilch, nada, sthquath!
Designation 4 of 4, Species 5008 requires access to your empire. Resistance is futile.
Fernando? Is that you? I must say, you're looking maaaavelous.....
Fluffie the Pink Bunnie experienced a bloody change in philosophy and has now become: Kang, son of K'naiah Once Kang has fulfilled his sworn oath to the Kzinti, he will be joining his glorious bretheren in the KIE. All Tribbles and Ship's Counsellors will be immediat
I am Kahless....geez
So you're stalking yourself?
I'm just about done with another huge map common-habitable Swindle game, which will come in at 470k+ and push us back above 30mil. I'll submit that sometime late tonight.
I'm hoping my 2.123 Trillion citizens in my ToA game will put me over 250k. There are still more planets for me to snag, so maybe I can bust 3 Trillion. I'm about to start building military starbase arrays, so I anticipate several days of drudgerous military buildup. I guess I'll find out ho
I think I'm going to have a hard time getting any sleep
I'm losing sleep watching the score hover at 29980602. I wonder if Fluffie managed to push us over the 30 mil mark, or if someone else will snag the honor. The stress is crushing...... Why doesn't it upodate???? Why doesn't it upodate??? Why doesn't it upodate???? Why doesn't it upodate???? Why doesn't it upodate???? Why doesn't it upodate???? Why doesn't it upodate???? Why doesn't it upodate
Any Kzin warriors with a spare character slot? The Klingon Empire, it's a joint effort with KP and myself at the moment are looking for Klingon themed characters.
I suppose I can convert Fluffie the Pink Bunnie to Klingon. I'll work on a new name and icon.
was it your left or right handed signal?
Actually, squirrels have use their little feet for that particular signal. It's one of of those unexplained anotomical quirks that we attribute to the Dread Lords[e digicons]|-)[/e]
Well done Snarkotamus! I wonder if you have seen this AAR yet: Rise of the Snathi Horde.
Very nice. Very nice, indeed. Incidentally, I have now decided that I really like playing as the Yor in DA. The miniaturization bonus and automatic ion drive give my initial ships that extra "kick" that lets me start sporing around March 15 or 22 now. In one recent game, game, I captured the the Torian homeworld early, and got to play three full turns with TWO Tech Capitols and
The leader of the Gerontocracy, Ghostwes, is not around at the moment. He'll be back at some point, but he did say that he would be gone for a while. He is the only one that has the functionality to approve a new member.
In that case, I retract my 1-finger-salute.
Glorious day, we have reached the rank of 8.
Wait'll I move Tex up into the top 25. The Gerontocracy (who ignored my membership request, incidentally), are destined for some major bumpage soon. Better toddle fast, ye wrinkled crumudgeons, yer days in 7th are coming to an end. A mere 1.008 million more points..........
Surrender your birdseed and prepare your attics for occupation by a Snathi provisional government, for the Mighty Squirrells have finally busted the 80K barrier......
I expect.....that you all shall die...
die laughing maybe....
The Geckodons are now 11 on the Meta and have recruted two more warriors. Welcome MetaLeaguer and Fleet Lord Atvar.
No welcome for me? *sniff* *wail*
I dont remember, did I send you my 90k+ ZYW guide?
Nope, but I sure would like to get aholt of it!
