I think the issue is that in the /Game/StarSystemDefs.xml you have UnimatrixZero_Name and in the /Text/StarSystemText.xml you have UnimatrixZeroSystem_Name . I did the same thing with the UI_Color_[RaceName] DisplayName and was so confused as to why I had the DisplayName in the game and not the string. Hope that helps!

The rules and legal elements of this agreement are pretty standard (just about like every other art-related contest I've ever seen). I could say more, but I don't believe it is worth the effort. If you don't like the agreement, it is an optional contest--as you have noted in your post, you don't have to participate.
Quoting Derek Paxton, reply 65 This is my favorite thread on the internet. I am hopeful we will cross out a lot of these issues with Patch 2. Thanks, I will be updating again when you give us the opt-in so if you want to release it early before you leave tonig
If a person was ambitious and wanted to create a customized tech tree, would doing so be acceptable?
Ah, that makes sense. Yeah--I kind of wish certain things could be changed with the game open, but I understand why that isn't the case. I opened and closed the program probably a couple dozen times as I tried to make my own ship color template...
These are nice, Apostat--you created all of these just for GalCivIII or are these from previous mods? I really like the logos too--and if you are willing to share more, feel free. I plan to share some logos soon too, but the race images I've been working on aren't quite at the level yours are at... Are you okay if we make tweaks and modifications to these (color changes, scaling, repositioning, etc.)? And Seilore, I've had no problem with png images for the faction
Not sure if this will help you out, but I recently posted the process I went through to create custom colors for race UI and map icons/influence--that is available here . This will maybe get you started in compiling the proper xml files for a custom race mod--though changing the colors doesn't require you to mod a race entirely in xml. For this, you can simply mod the colors and create a custom faction usi
So today I dove into modding the colors of a custom race. I learned a few things and hit one (major) brick walls. I'm posting this for the benefit of those who don't want to use the standard UI and map color options, and because I'm interested in seeing what other people have to say about modding the colors (how to do it more efficiently, what I might be doing wrong, and especially how to create custom ship colors). My race is the Elesion, and I used that fo
I agree, DARCA, the race image is disgusting and a joke in itself... but when combined with this particular greeting... I just about keeled over.
So... Ummmmmmmmmm... I'm actually not so certain...
Well, getting it right in the first place is the most important step; and getting the displays right should follow in the next patch or two.
I agree--they've done a great job in this beta release to add a lot of features--and so it doesn't bother me greatly that the display-side of these features is buggy and/or incomplete. I do hope they can easily correct some of the more obvious display and gam
Hey Seilore, just posted another bug [bug] Overflow Working but not Displaying Properly I think this would fit under your Starbase/Shipyard Issues heading, or perhaps General Ship Issues... Thanks again for keeping up this awesome list!
As the titles says, the shipyard/military overflow seems to be working, but it isn't displaying properly. Following is a series of screen captures from turn to turn showing the display of shipyard production. This first image shows a Paladin M1 with some production already completed. Two turns prior, I built a Sniper with a manufacturing cost of about 87. I don't know what was built before that, but there was definitely some overflow manufacturing applied.
From a beta tester perspective, what should we do to help the development of the best AI for release? Just feedback about strange behavior or suggestions for improvement in particular areas? I'm guessing some of both--but how can we communicate in a way that it is helpful for you? What specific measures can we take to help?
So I started a tiny map with all the majors and 2 minors. The result was interesting, and fun. And through some clever UP manipulation and carefully planned planetary invasion, I won (though I've continued because I'm not done experimenting). Throughout the game, I noticed several strange diplomacy screen bugs and inconsistencies in what the AI really think of me. As the title implies, much of the AI's diplomatic posture is not reflected in their behavior, and many
What did you do to fix them Rand?
A couple more I've noticed: 1) Wiggling/vibrating icons. When on an insane map, at least, the planet icons vibrate for a time after you scroll in or out. Not sure if anyone else is seeing this... 2) Wiggling/vibrating ships. This has been an issue ever since they smoothed out the movement to avoid the swimming back and forth along hexes, but it is more noticeable now with the engine afterburner effects. 3) Outreach III not
Same issue here.
Was actually just about to post this very same issue. I wonder if it is in any way related to the Adaptable trait that seems to allow only Barren world colonization (haven't experienced this myself, but it has been reported on this thread ).
Well ain't that typical. My son has been stealing the show for the past three months (quite deservedly, I might add), and even here, I make a post and the only attention it gets is my son... ;) Thanks everyone for the kind words. I feel exceptionally privileged to be a freelancer who works from home and can care for my son. I am interested, though, if any of the designer-types here have any opinions/issues with the component tray at the bottom of the designer...
This, methinks, would be WONDERFUL! Great idea and great presentation in the OP.
Thanks Nastytang! Being a dad is 100% awesomeness. Nothing beats having my son look up at me and smile, except of course when he looks up at me smiles and giggles.
Also, I am curious of what other designers think about the component tray on the bottom of the designer. I would love a couple parts-management improvements, such as 1) the ability to rearrange where parts are in the tray to make grouping more intuitive, 2) faster scrolling and/or 3) a resizable boundary to display more than one row at a time (collapsible). That would make organizing and adjusting parts much easier.
I agree with jmccrea - that has a nice overall shape, though I particularly like the front end--it's interesting. I haven't posted anything new in a while 1) because I've been swamped with work, 2) my wife and I have a newborn son and I'm a stay-at-home-dad (who is now swamped with work and diaper duty (and play time)) and 3) I'm now waiting to see what kind of curved pieces the new races have in Beta 5. I've been making some... well, you can describe
